Chapter Twenty Seven

Chapter Twenty Seven
Salvador Greene
"Me? Why me?"
He stared at me, his gaze narrowing, and said, "No one has been able to find his body; no one has ever set eyes on him. The moon goddess said only one has that ability and is someone who is special. For you to have seen him means you are the only one who can bring his soul back."
I turned, my heart pounding as I walked towards the window while staring aimlessly. "I'm sorry, but I can't risk my life by going back to that woman. Knowing how I had barely survived and how I couldn't escape her claws is something I won't want to experience in my life again," I said firmly.
Laura walked behind me; she firmly wrapped both arms around mine, with tears in her eyes as she cried desperately, "I know that you have suffered to bring his body to me, which has ignited a strong hope that I had lost, so I am pleading with you, please help me and save my son. I won't be able to take it, knowing fully well that my son died right in front of my eyes and I'm unable to help him, please."
"Then why go yourself?"
"And if you think that I can, I won't? It's like you are yet to understand the love of a mother."
I pondered for a moment while thinking for a moment, knowing the risk I was about to take and that my life would be at stake if I should make such a drastic decision, so I turned to her and asked, "If I should make such a drastic decision to save the soul of your son, what is it for me?"
She thought for a while, and she said, "You will be given the highest hierarchy after the alpha."
"But..."
"Please don't say no, save my son; you can ask for anything, but please save my son."
I thought for a while; the offer was tempting. At least I won't have to live under the mercy of Jennifer Hunks anymore.
The old man turned with me with a sad gaze. "Your survival is narrow, so take this," he said while handing me a cloth containing a small powder. My eyes narrowed at the content; many questions ran through my mind as I stared at it.
"You will need it; when you are at the verge of dying, apply it on your face, then you will be invisible to her."
I thought for a moment, "What if I'm making a great mistake by accepting this offer?" I turned towards Laura, almost backing out, and then she wrapped my hand around mine. "In case you don't believe me, before you leave, you will be given the official title of the general, and a lot of funds will be transferred to your account."
A young man walked into the room. The old man bowed to the young man as he stared at Laura. "Who gave you the authority to give him such a title?"
She ran to him and went on her knees. "Please understand, my love, I can't lose my son after years of looking for him. I can't let him die right in front of my eyes. Grant me this wish; this is a desperate mother talking."
The young man let out a deep sigh and briefly stared at me. I could see pain in his eyes before he nodded his head. "You will be offered the position of the general before leaving, but please do everything to save our son; he's the only heir to the pack, so we can't lose him."
I swallowed hard, tears almost slipping down my cheeks when I saw the true love of a parent. I never really experienced what it really meant to be loved.
So everything started slowly when I was called to the pack council, and the young man who was the pack alpha officially announced me as the general. I could hear the loud sounds of murmuring among the elders, but no one dared ask questions when they saw the infuriating gaze of the alpha. Then he turned to the man standing behind him as he commanded, "Beau, you will be going with him, and make sure you stand by his side no matter what happens."
"Yes, Alpha." He replied without hesitation. I could see the way everyone in the pack feared him; his words were law.
After twelve hours of intense training and counseling, I set off on the journey. I marched majestically into the forest, my heart pounding, many thoughts running through my mind while imagining what awaited me. With each step, fear lurked within me, sinking deeper into the tall trees that hovered over us.
'Oh, such bravery, you came to look for me, despite knowing that you might not survive it?' Her voice echoed deep into the forest, which startled me. I immediately brought out my gun, ready to shoot at anyone who came in sight.
'You need to be careful,' my wolf warned. I was baffled as to why my wolf gave those instructions. Beau, who had been following behind me, was nowhere to be found.
"Beau..." I called out, but only silence followed.
'Looking for your little minion? Sorry, you brought a weakling, and you thought he could defeat me? You are the only one who has ever dared defy me, and I'll make sure you don't cross the line ever again,' her voice echoed through the forest, but I'm unable to find her again. I tried as much as possible to calm my nerves, but I'm unable to.
My hand tightly wrapped around my gun, ready to aim at anyone lurking in sight, only to feel pain scorch through my being, I fell to the ground. I felt my head bleeding, my eyes blurred, and my gaze searched for any threat, and that was when I saw Beau holding a big log in his hand with a devilish smile on his face.
"Beau..." I called out gently before I completely blacked out.
"Oh, so vulnerable, poor little thing." I opened my eyes gently when I heard someone whisper those words beside my ear. I frantically searched the room trying to observe who was in sight, and that was when I saw Bright, looking as beautiful as ever, wearing a red dress and tall heels while allowing her dark hair to cascade down to her back.
I searched the room only to see that Beau was heavily tied with ropes to the bed, which was opposite mine. All my limbs were also tied to the small bed I was on.
"Beau...how could you..."
"I'm sorry, I was instructed by my fa..." Before he could complete his sentence, her daughter arrived as she sank her fangs into her flesh, taking every ounce of blood from his bloodstream until his skin turned pale. When she was done, I noticed she looked more refreshed, and her eyes glowed with her skin, making her look even more beautiful. I stared in horror. I should have felt pity, but right now what I feel is disgust, knowing Beau betrayed me.
Suddenly the door barged open, and the man who claimed to be her husband walked in while staring at her with fright in his eyes. "We are ambushed; we need to act fast."
Before I could fully comprehend what was happening, all of them barged out of the room, and then I heard sounds of gunshots and fights. I was thinking the people who had ambushed them had won, only for a lady wearing leather clothes, whose face was covered with a black cloth, to be brought into the room. The dried body of Beau was discarded on the ground like trash, and the lady was tied to the bedpost. She struggled, but her efforts were futile, only for the cloth to be removed. My mouth hung open when I called out gently, "Margaret Mathias?" What the fuck are you doing here?"
