37\. Zia's POV - Scary White Eyes
When I woke up, I was on the soft mattress of my bed, about to turn and get more sleep when I felt the presence of another.
I was in Cain’s apartment which he was certain no one would ever visit except he personally brought them in.
So of course he could be the only one in my room. But what was he doing here?
I opened my eyes fully and saw him bent over huffing with sweat dripping down his chin.
“What’s up?” I asked.
“Nothing,” he waved his hand in my face still breathless, his other hand resting on his back.
“This is clearly not nothing. Tell me what’s wrong,” I pushed myself up to a sitting position, worried about him.
For someone who was working out like he could lift the world, he was pale looking.
After a few back and forths of me asking and him just gasping, he finally opened his mouth ready to answer.
He took a pillow, threw it on the chair and sat on it.
“Okay?” I nudged him.
“I just brought you to your room,” he said.
“And?” I cocked my head to the side. Why was that suddenly an issue... “Ohhhh,” It dawned on me and this time when I looked at him again, it was with sympathy, because what do you mean he carried me to my room?
Up the stairs.
It didn’t occur to me initially because well, no one used to lift me up and the first person who had did it with such ease and convenience.
That of course left a strong first impression on me.
“Yes and I think I broke my back,” I rolled my eyes at him suddenly not feeling any sympathy.
It felt like revenge for all the workout he made me do this morning.
Even Gina agreed.
“Oh really? We should get you to the hospital then,” I said absentmindedly.
“No need for that, I will be fine in no time, but before that, I need some strength,” he said. This time I felt apprehensive.
There could only be one thing that my darling third mate could be hinting at.
“Didn’t you just eat? If you are hungry, go eat food,”
“Not that kind of food,” he said and raised his head to look at me with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“You’re so greedy. You deserved to have your back broken. In fact, I promise to work out really hard from now on so I’ll increase my weight in mass and next time I would be sure to break your dick that never knows how to rest instead,” I said and he jumped up to his feet like there were pins and needles on the pillow.
His back was all straightened.
“Come on, I didn’t mean what you were thinking. Anyways, you go back to sleep first, I’ll go clean the gym for our afternoon workout,” he said and hurried towards the door. Were my words really that scary?
“Wait,” I said and he stopped rigid.
I couldn’t help but ask, “am I that scary?”
“Hmm,” he nodded silently and I burst out laughing at his gesture.
“I didn’t realise you were such a comedian until now,” I said and he shook his head.
“I mean it. You looked really angry just now. Your eyes, they turned white and distant. I felt truly fearful,” he said.
He didn’t seem to be joking.
“Do you mean silver? Gina has silver eyes,” I said but he shook his head.
‘It wasn’t me, I felt it too,’ Gina said to my surprise.
I had a natural brown and whenever Gina showed, which has been happening more often ever since I got my three mates, it would be silver.
But white that exuded fear? I wasn’t familiar.
“Maybe you got it wrong,” I said to him.
“Maybe. You also don’t have to give me a blow job during this weekend. I know I said that you would pay me for every meal, but, it’s fine. Let’s just focus on making your wolf stronger. I wonder just how much more scary she would be if that happened,” he mumbled to himself.
“Wait, do you mean it?” I asked him excitedly.
“What?”
“No blowjobs for this weekend, also remember that Monday is a public holiday to celebrate the alpha’s birthday so that means you won’t ask me for anything until Tuesday?” I asked and he nodded.
“Yes, I’m a man of my words,” he said and I jumped out of bed and onto his arms.
He wasn’t expecting it, but he steadied with his back on the wall.
“Oh my goodness, Cain, you are the best!” I said as I rained kisses on his face.
“And you’re making it hard,” he said but wrapped his hand around me and patted my back.
“Also, Terri called, but I told him you weren’t here and I didn’t see you after I dropped you at home.”
“Oh?” I withdrew from the hug, “why though?”
“I meant it when I said I don’t like people in my space. You are the first and would probably be the only exception Zia,” he said looking into my eyes softly. So softly that I almost melted.
He could feel it too, the soft current passing through us.
“Hmm,” he cleared his throat and I blinked. “So if you have anything to discuss, pick up your phone,” he said.
“But I don’t have it. I think I left it in school yesterday,” I confessed.
“Oh, that’s okay. We can just grab it on Tuesday,” he said and I nodded.
“Sure,” I didn’t have any friends to call anyways.
“Good, all we need to do is focus on our daily six hours workout. Don’t worry, it’ll be fun,” he said and before I could retort, he was out of my room, leaving me to sigh and crawl back on my bed.
“Don’t worry, we can do this,” Gina cheered and I fell asleep anticipating workout.
The best part was the feast that came after.
