Mia's POV
The cold marble floor pressed against my back as I lay at the bottom of
the stairs, listening to the commotion above. My ribs ached, my
breathing shallow, but my wolf, Ima, worked quickly, knitting my bones
back together and numbing the pain. I stayed still, my eyes closed,
feigning helplessness to see how they would react.
"Mia!" Xavier's voice called out, his footsteps echoing as he rushed
toward me. Nathan and Sean followed close behind.
"Don't touch her!" Layla shrieked from the top of the stairs. "She
attacked me! She tripped on her own!"
The brothers hesitated, exchanging glances. I felt their presence around
me, but none of them dared to touch me.
Of course they will take her side; how could I even expect them to listen
me and take my side.
"She doesn't have a wolf," Nathan muttered. "That fall should've been
fatal. How is she even breathing?"
Yes thats what you always thought for me and tormented me as much as
you could.
"She's weak," Layla said, descending the stairs in a rush, fake concern
plastered across her face. "She's always causing problems, throwing
herself into situations she can't handle. This is her fault."
Her words sent a wave of fury through me, but I remained still, listening
as the brothers began arguing among themselves.
I want to see how far they can be heartless.
"This is getting out of hand," Sean snapped. "If Diego finds out-"
"He won't," Nathan cut him off. "We'll figure out a way to cover this
up."
Cover this up? Disgust churned in my stomach. None of them cared if I
was hurt, only about how to avoid the consequences. Shameless to even
call them mates or even a man.
Layla's voice rang out again, dripping with insincerity. "I didn't mean
for this to happen. She just-she came at me. I was defending myself."
Ima growled in my mind, her anger mirroring my own. "Enough of this."
My eyes snapped open, and I slowly pushed myself up, brushing my hair
out of my face. The room went silent as all eyes turned to me.
"What the hell…" Xavier muttered, his eyes widening as he took a step
back.
Nathan's jaw dropped. "Her ribs… the bleeding… it's gone."
I stood to my full height, my gaze locking onto Layla. Her face paled as
she stumbled backward, hiding behind Xavier like a coward.
Yes, that's what I want to see in all of your eyes- I won't take your shit
anymore.
"Mia, I didn't mean-" she started, but I cut her off, my voice sharp and
unwavering.
"Don't even try it," I said, stepping forward. "You shoved me. You called
me a whore. You've been trying to tear me down since the moment you
got here."
Layla's mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water, but no words
came out.
"And now," I continued, my voice rising, "you're standing there,
pretending to be the victim, blaming me for your disgusting behavior.
You think no one will see through your lies? You think I'll just stay
silent?"
"Mia, calm down," Xavier said, stepping in front of her.
"Calm down?" I scoffed. "Where was this energy when she pushed me
down the stairs? Where was it when you were all standing around,
arguing about how to cover this up instead of checking if I was alive?"
Nathan groaned, running a hand through his hair. "She's going to ruin
everything."
"I'm not the one ruining anything," I snapped, my eyes narrowing at
him. "But if you all want to keep pretending, go ahead. I'm done playing
along."
Layla tried to step around Xavier, her voice trembling. "She's lying! She
attacked me first. She-"
"Enough," I said, cutting her off again. "You don't get to twist the story
this time."
I took another step toward her, and she flinched, grabbing onto Sean's
arm for protection.
"Get her away from me!" Layla cried, her voice breaking.
Before I could say anything else, another voice broke through the
tension.
"Well, isn't this a dramatic little scene?"
I turned to see Scarlet sauntering into the room, her arms crossed and a
wicked smile on her lips. Her presence sucked the air out of the room,
and for a moment, I wondered if she had been waiting for the perfect
opportunity to insert herself.
"What's going on here?" Scarlet asked, her gaze shifting from me to
Layla. "I leave for a few minutes, and it's already chaos."
"Mia attacked me," Layla said quickly, pointing a trembling finger in my
direction.
"Liar," I shot back.
Scarlet raised an eyebrow, her gaze settling on me. "I don't care who
started it. What I do care about is what happens next."
She stepped closer, her eyes cold and calculating. "If you touch Layla
again, Mia, I'll kill you myself."
I straightened, refusing to back down. "You can try," I replied, my voice
steady. "But you should know-I've already been killed once. It didn't
work out too well."
Scarlet's smile faltered, and for the first time, I saw a flicker of
uncertainty in her eyes.
"You're full of surprises, aren't you?" she said, her tone lighter but still
menacing.
"You have no idea," I replied, taking a step closer.
The room was silent, the tension thick as everyone watched the standoff
between us. I could feel Ima's energy humming in my veins, giving me
the strength to hold my ground.
Scarlet studied me for a moment longer before turning to Layla. "Come
on. Let's leave the little omega to stew in her own mess."
Layla hesitated but quickly followed Scarlet out of the room, casting one
last glare in my direction.
As the door closed behind them, I exhaled, the adrenaline leaving my
body. I turned to the brothers, my eyes narrowing.
"I'm done with this," I said. "I'm done with all of you."
"Mia, wait," Xavier started, but I raised a hand to stop him.
"No," I said firmly. "You don't get to act like you care now. None of you
do. I'm just something for you to control, to manipulate. But that ends
now."
Without waiting for a response, I turned and walked out of the room, my
heart pounding.
I didn't know where I was going, but one thing was clear-I couldn't stay
here anymore.
