Chapter 802 You Must Be Good to Me for the Rest of Your Life

Chapter 802 You Must Be Good to Me for the Rest of Your Life

"Deaf?"

Edward's handsome face was indifferent, but Evelyn's beautiful eyes widened as she excitedly cried out.

"Yes! Absolutely true! I've already got the diagnosis report and I'm sending it to you both right away! Debra is still in the hospital. I heard her left ear is completely deaf and her right ear's hearing has declined—she's already wearing a hearing aid!"

Bart's voice echoed joyfully in the room. "Mr. Wellington, you're amazing! That wasn't just a slap—you used an Avengers finishing move!"

"Bart, you're exaggerating." Edward frowned slightly, his tone mildly reproachful.

Evelyn burst out laughing, clapping her hands excitedly. Her pale, delicate hands turned red from clapping. "Ha ha ha ha! Good! Heaven has eyes! She mocked Molly every day—let's see how arrogant she can be now!"

Seeing Edward staring at her intently, Evelyn's smile suddenly froze on her rosy lips. A hint of shyness colored her reddening cheeks. "Um, am I being too..."

"Mmm..."

Her unfinished sentence was swallowed by the man's hot kiss, full of aggressive desire.

Edward held the soft woman firmly in his arms. His large palm seemingly casually moved up along the vertebra at the base of her spine that he loved so much, rubbing restlessly. His burning deep kiss lingered and teased between her soft, yielding lips and teeth.

When the woman in his arms trembled slightly, the man mischievously let her go just then, his thumb rubbing her flushed lower lip as he laughed in a low, husky voice:

"You want to ask if you're being too bad, hmm?"

Evelyn was lost in his deep, darkly surging, tender starry eyes. Her eyes glistened with moisture, her breathing soft and weak.

"I think you should be even worse..."

Edward's palm returned to the small of her back, kneading. "When you're bad, it drives me crazy."

Evelyn's cheeks flushed with warm red as she lightly tapped his chest twice.

Seeing his breathing grow heavy and the corners of his eyes turn red, desire was clearly stirring.

This damn man wanted her again.

"Mrs. Wellington! You don't know how incredibly cool Mr. Wellington was today!"

Bart's loud, bright voice broke the intimate atmosphere. "Mr. Wellington brought Mr. Wellington along today and dealt with Debra in front of Mr. Wellington and everyone at Riverside Villa.

Mr. Wellington hit Debra and was furious, giving her no face at all. Mr. Wellington wanted to protect Debra for the Wellington family's reputation, but Mr. Wellington didn't indulge him at all—not only did he banish her from Mugden, he even slapped her twice hard. We just didn't expect this bonus outcome!"

Evelyn blinked her moist eyes, her gaze at the man showing a trace of suspicion.

"Debra's crimes are too many to count, but what she shouldn't have done most was lose her mind at this moment and cling to Patrick's legs in front of me."

Edward's eyes held a faint coolness, but his hand rubbing the little woman's waistline was extremely hot and deliberate. "Her going deaf isn't my fault. If anyone's to blame, blame Patrick for refusing my demand that she kneel before Molly and apologize to my sister. Otherwise I would have saved those two slaps."

"When did my Mr. Wellington learn to lie with a straight face?"

Evelyn saw through his thoughts in a second, her fingers loosening his full tie knot. "You're not a thoughtless brute who doesn't know his own strength. You did it on purpose. You wanted to destroy her."

Edward stopped pretending, pecking at her lips. "So I'm bad too. We're made for each other."

"Not necessarily."

A shadow passed through Evelyn's eyes. "Bart, how many days will Debra be in the hospital?"

"Just two or three days."

"Can you arrange for someone to get close to her?"

"Besides the attending doctor, Debra's hospital room is guarded by Mr. Wellington's people. Our people can't get anywhere near." Bart sounded quite frustrated.

Debra had become another fuse in their heated relationship.

His tight security was nothing more than secretly competing with Edward.

Where was the father-son relationship? They were clearly sworn enemies!

"Evelyn, what do you want to do?" Edward asked softly.

"I want to draw Debra's blood for a DNA test."

Both Edward and Bart were shocked!

"I want to see if Debra, this genetically mutated creature full of evil schemes, is actually from the Wellington family. Who told me to be so curious?"

These past days, Evelyn found it increasingly strange. She even compared photos of Patrick and Debra and felt this woman didn't look like her father at all—even Molly's features somewhat resembled Patrick's.

Most ridiculous of all, this evil creature didn't look like Tiffany either.

This didn't make sense.

"But it doesn't matter if we can't get close to her right now."

Evelyn smiled coldly. "She'll have to go to the hospital for checkups sooner or later. When she gets abroad, won't it be easy for us to get her blood sample?"

"Evelyn, you seem very certain about something." Edward could tell from the woman's clever, cunning fox-like gaze that there was more to this than met the eye.

"AIDS has an 80% transmission rate through high-risk sexual behavior. Now let's see if Debra is one of the lucky 20%."

Evelyn crossed her arms, her clear voice tinged with coldness. "Besides, the man she had her last wild night with—I've seen his medical report. He has more than just that one disease.

Debra absolutely has to go to the hospital this time."

The air suddenly went quiet.

Edward's eyes widened, his thin lips half-open, unable to speak for a long time.

His little woman was an angel when she was kind.

But when she was bad, even the devil would retreat!

Even Bart on the phone fell silent, thinking he should get Edward a lucky rabbit's foot or some kind of protective charm when he had time.

With the note: Never ever make Evelyn angry!

...

Evelyn had already eaten, but Edward had been busy all day and was still hungry, so she personally cooked him a plate of fragrant, delicious tomato pasta, along with two plates of refreshing pickled vegetables to help cut the richness. She was very thoughtful and attentive.

Edward held his plate and ate the noodles heartily, forking up pickled cucumber and crunching it in his mouth. He ate with obvious relish.

"These pickles are crisp and refreshing, very tasty. Where did you buy them?" Only after finishing did he remember to show some gentlemanly manner, quickly straightening his posture and using his elegant fingers to pick up a napkin and dab his lips.

"I made them myself." Evelyn poured a glass of warm water and brought it to his side.

Edward's eyes widened slightly as he grabbed her hand. "You made these?"

"The past few days at grandpa's house, I had nothing to do while keeping Molly company, so I had Uncle Tyler go out and buy ingredients. I pickled a lot—they're all stored in the fridge."

Evelyn curved her soft lips. "Don't think I made them for you. I made them for grandpa. He loves pickled olives—he can't enjoy his meals without eating a few at every meal."

Edward's heart warmed. His large hand gripped her waist and lifted her onto his lap, his Adam's apple bobbing. "Whose wife is so capable and thoughtful?"

"Yeah, whose is she?"

Evelyn pretended to be clueless, her fingertip scratching under his chin as she gazed at her own reflection in his stunningly beautiful eyes.

"Mine... mine, mine."

Edward murmured over and over, each word touching her heart. He leaned close to her neck, his warm lips brushing against her skin, making her tremble. Fine goosebumps rose in a lovely pink layer, cute and enticing.

"Something's bothering you?" Evelyn gently stroked his brow.

"Today, if grandpa hadn't announced it in anger, I still wouldn't know that grandma can't hear anything in her left ear."

Edward laughed bitterly, full of self-reproach. "Ridiculous, right? As the grandson of this family, I spent the most time with grandpa and grandma growing up, but I never noticed anything wrong with grandma... I'm really filial."

"I knew about this. Grandpa told me. It was that Christmas when he and I went to see grandma together..."

Casually mentioning Christmas, Evelyn immediately stopped, not daring to continue.

This year's Christmas was only two months away.

The Taylor family loved celebrations. Every Christmas they'd set up a huge, gorgeous Christmas tree in the living room. Her eldest brother would personally prepare gifts for all family members, and he'd pay out of his own pocket for benefits for the Taylor family's servants.

But because of that lost child, Evelyn no longer dared celebrate Christmas—she didn't even dare go home on Christmas Day.

That was before.

Now she didn't dare mention it, only because she feared Edward would think of unhappy things, feared he would be sad and hurt.

Sure enough, the man's eyes instantly reddened. He held her tightly, choking for a long time before speaking:

"Thank you... Evelyn. Thank you for everything you've done for grandpa, for me, all these years." He couldn't continue.

"Since you know I've given so much, you have to treat me well for the rest of your life." Evelyn's smile was bright and cheerful as she patted his trembling back.

"This Christmas, can you take me in to celebrate at your house?"

Edward's gaze burned intensely. His long lashes restrained surging emotions, fluttering slightly. "I heard your Taylor family's Christmas tree is very big. I want to see it."

Evelyn nestled like a soft little lamb against his rising and falling chest. "If you come, you'll have to help out."

The man's voice was warm and mellow. "Okay."

They tacitly avoided touching on sad matters, yet could still read the deep affection and guilt in each other's eyes, expressing that deep love vividly.

Long-lasting love needs no words.

"Second young master, Mrs. Wellington."

Tyler hurried in. Seeing this affectionate scene, he quickly covered his eyes and consciously withdrew.

Edward remained calm, but Evelyn couldn't sit still and jumped off the man's lap, blushing.

"Ahem... Mr. Peter Taylor is here. He's in the living room."

...

The couple walked out hand in hand to greet him.

"Peter!" Seeing him, Evelyn's face lit up with joy.

"Evelyn." Peter sat on the sofa, his crescent-shaped eyes lifted at the corners.

He wore a sharply tailored black long coat over a black shirt with the collar casually open. No matter how casual, his naturally noble and extraordinary bearing still showed through.

"Peter." Edward also greeted him.

"Hello." Peter responded verbally, but his gaze unconsciously drifted elsewhere.

As if searching for something.

Evelyn noticed and felt something stir in her heart. She smiled faintly. "Have you eaten? If not, stay and eat something. I'll cook for you."

"No need to trouble yourself. I'll make this quick."

Peter furrowed his brow, his expression serious. "Evelyn, about that person you asked me to investigate—I even went to the central bureau to check, but couldn't find any background information about that man, no DNA samples or fingerprints in the system.

Which means two possibilities: either he's never committed a crime domestically, or he's not from this country at all."
