Chapter 290 Stop Fooling Around, I Need to Get Up

Arabella took the glass of water. If she didn't care about her bedding, she would have splashed it right in Gabriel's face!

Before their intimate moment could fully end, the sound of a baby crying suddenly came from the master bedroom.

Arabella's nerves instantly tensed. "The baby's awake!"

"Yeah, I'll go check. You sleep."

She looked at him with surprise and doubt. "You can handle it?"

"I can. Don't worry."

Gabriel wasn't trying to show off—he had to take responsibility for his own words.

He was the one who insisted on keeping the twins overnight. If he couldn't handle them and disturbed her sleep again, she'd never let him use the children as an excuse to stay over next time.

So whether he could manage or not, he had to try first.

His desires satisfied, Gabriel was in a good mood and emotionally stable.

Going over, he found Isabella crying. He immediately picked her up to check if she needed changing.

After gently and carefully changing her diaper, he warmed up some formula.

"Good baby, sweet baby, Mommy's very tired and already asleep. Let's have some milk, okay? You're such a good baby..."

Whether the seven-month-old understood her father's words or not, after whimpering in protest for a bit, she obediently grasped the bottle and began drinking.

Gabriel breathed a sigh of relief.

Beside her, Henry began to stir, his little brows furrowing.

Before his son could start wailing, Gabriel promptly stuffed the other bottle he'd prepared into Henry's mouth.

Once Henry was holding his own bottle and drinking, Gabriel skillfully changed his son's diaper and redressed him.

Having finished everything, he lay down with a strong sense of accomplishment, alternately patting both babies gently, his mind still replaying the passionate moments from earlier.

In the guest room just a wall away, Arabella initially stayed alert, ready to get up and help at any moment.

But hearing the crying gradually subside and no call for help from a certain someone, she slowly relaxed and drowsily fell asleep.

At some point, the mattress beside her vibrated slightly and sank. Then a warm presence pressed against her side, and her waist tightened.

A kiss landed on her lips. In her drowsy state she felt it, but being so exhausted and tired, she only frowned in annoyance and turned her head away, showing no other reaction.

In the darkness, Gabriel looked at the completely unconscious Arabella, his heart both tender and helpless.

Once, the happiness within his grasp—he hadn't treasured it.

Now, humble and groveling as he was, he could only occasionally have a single night.

Since becoming a mother, Arabella rarely slept well.

Even after divorcing Gabriel and moving out, no longer having to tend to babies at night, she still woke once or twice.

Sometimes her breasts were uncomfortably engorged and she needed to pump.

Sometimes she'd dream the children were crying and wake with a start.

After waking, occasionally she could fall back asleep quickly, but most times she'd lie awake until nearly dawn before managing another light doze.

But strangely, every night after being intimate with Gabriel, she slept deeply, dreamlessly through till morning.

Once, out of curiosity, she'd searched online: why does sleep improve after sex—she used that euphemism rather than blunt terms because she felt too embarrassed.

Turns out, the more you know. She discovered many articles explaining the phenomenon.

Apparently from a scientific perspective, lovemaking triggers the brain to release large amounts of dopamine, creating feelings of intense pleasure.

Afterward, as dopamine levels dropped, prolactin took over—and that stuff made people feel drowsy and sleepy.

Of course there was also the simplest reason—after vigorous physical activity, people naturally felt tired, which promoted sleep.

Just like last night, Arabella had another rare night of good sleep, not waking until her phone alarm sounded.

She reached to grab her phone, but before she could, the alarm abruptly stopped.

She froze, her brow unconsciously tightening. Before her thoughts could form, her waist suddenly tightened, and then warmth pressed against her lips.

"Finally awake?" His husky, sexy voice came right against her cheek, slow and tinged with amusement. "Just discovered what a sound sleeper you are... didn't move all night. If I hadn't checked your breathing, I'd have thought you'd died in your sleep..."

Arabella's nerves jolted—only then remembering a certain someone had stubbornly stayed over last night.

He pressed against her, his morning arousal unmistakably evident, making her body instantly tense with alarm.

Turning her head, she frowned tightly at the man. "Stop it, I need to get up..."

"What's the rush..." Gabriel clearly had no intention of letting her go. One hand slipped behind her neck, the other wrapped around her waist, pulling her into his embrace as his legs tangled with hers, trapping her.

Arabella was so startled her breathing stopped.

This bastard, first thing in the morning!

But her "indifference" didn't make Gabriel stop—instead, he grew bolder.

Arabella, held so tight she could barely breathe, had to struggle to break free.

"Gabriel, stop it. The babies must be awake. Go check on them..." Leaving two such young infants sleeping alone was dangerous—what if something happened!

She didn't know Gabriel had checked on them twice during the night. The siblings were sleeping peacefully.

Precisely because he'd gotten up twice and the woman beside him remained completely oblivious, Gabriel had wondered if she'd passed out, which led him to instinctively check her breathing.

"Don't worry, Mary came early this morning. She's already taken the children downstairs for a walk." The man murmured in her ear, his tone even more suggestive. "So... we're the only two in the house right now..."

Hearing this, alarm bells rang in Arabella's head!

When did Mary arrive? How had she not heard a single sound?

Turning to stare at him in shock, she opened her mouth, her face a mixture of embarrassment and anger!

But before she could explode, Gabriel rolled over, pinning her down and sealing her lips with a kiss...

Though his night's sleep had been fragmented and barely counted as rest, it didn't affect his current vigor.

Arabella, her breathing blocked, kept slapping at him. "Don't kiss me... haven't brushed my teeth... mmph, you're disgusting... Gabriel!"

But no matter how she protested, nothing could stop a certain someone's arrow already nocked and aimed.

The frustrating part was that Arabella had slept deeply through the night without getting up to relieve herself. Now full to bursting, with him stimulating her like this, the scene was too mortifying to describe.

...

When Mary and the nanny returned with the children after nearly an hour's walk, Arabella had just finished showering and dressing. Her eyes were still red and slightly swollen, her delicate, striking face radiating fury.

Gabriel, however, was refreshed and in excellent spirits, good-temperedly trying to placate her. He'd just grasped her hand when she angrily jerked her arm away, accidentally striking his face.

Mary pushed the door open just as a slap rang out. Startled, she froze for a moment before carefully offering, "Mrs. Sterling... it's early morning. Whatever the matter is, talk it out nicely. Physical violence... isn't appropriate."
