Chapter 47: Concealment
Chapter 47: Concealment
The captain of Crows Cries slowly and purposefully follows the blood trail. As yet he has discovered two dead bodies. The young women were knifed in a manner of some kind of wild out of controlled person. The small footsteps indicate it must be a woman. He keeps walking forward. He was careful in his handling. Everyone in town knows there is only two active police members on duty. The way he was looking at the current and active scene he should call for backup from outside of town.
He stopped in front of the red door club. The small footsteps have entered there. He stood there a long time before he finally took a step closer. Even before he could reach for the door, it opened from the inside. He comes face to face with the lawyer that arrived the day Jesper Strange has stayed in one of his police cells.
“Captain.” She said smiling. He was quick to noticed like before the warmth never reached her eyes. He frowns slightly thinking the previous time that he has looked into her eyes they were brown. Here and now, they look green.
“Good evening,” he said standing aside to allow her to leave. But to his surprise she didn’t move instead she looks curiously at him.
“Can I help you, captain?”
“I am not sure, I followed those,” he points to the bloody footprints.
“Oh,” she now stood aside.
“Is this person in there?” he asked curiously. He watches the woman smelling the most recent sex scent on her skin.
“I don’t know. Come inside.” She smiled again.
“Okay,” The captain keeps his hand close to his weapon.
Jesper stood at the other corner of the building. He carefully watches the captain enters. Once he was certain there wasn’t anyone watching him, he bends down and grabbed hold of an unconscious Sara Miller.
“What the hell happened to you?” he questions softly. Now with sudden purpose he starts walking with her over his shoulder in the direction of her old apartment building. He was using the shadows as cover making sure no one noticed them. He wasn’t careful enough, as someone was watching them.
“What have you done,” Gregor Drake asked. He has noticed from which direction Jesper has walked. He slowly starts to follow. After a while he found it curious that Jesper enters the building.
Jesper found the apartment. Without thinking twice, he kicked the door opened. He carefully placed her unconscious body down onto the bed. He went in search of a blanket to covered her bloodstained body.
He simply left closing the door behind him. He was now aware someone was waiting for him in the shadows. As usual his eyes did a quick search for the crows but they are still absent. He also realized there was sound all around him.
“Jesper Strange,” he stepped into full view.
“Gregor Drake,” he stopped in his tracks. “Are you following me?”
“What are you doing here in this building? Didn’t already walked this path?”
“You tracking my movements, why?” Jesper watched him closely unaware his eyes were changing colors again. This worries Gregor.
“I am doing my duty.” He said flatly. “You should leave this building. Stop going back to what was.” He said clearly very irritated.
“Gregor, what are you talking about?” Jesper start following the man who was now moving fast. It was clear he was making a point of getting away from the building.
The captain slowly starts walking around the club but it was quickly clear the bloody footprints has stopped outside the club. It has all the appearance she entered here but there was no sign of her now. He walked back to the front of the club finding the lawyer talking with the bartender he saw earlier. His instinct warns him they are covering something.
“Did you find anyone?” the woman asked.
“No, it would appear she has vanished.”
“Why do you think it’s a woman?” she asked curious.
“The size of the bloodied footprint. Anyway, excuse the intrusion.” He starts walking towards the door. His sharp eyes noticed some blood spatter behind a curtain. He simply keeps walking now certain they are concealing something. The captain slipped out the door. He now walked towards his cruiser.
As he nears the vehicle, he noticed someone slipping behind it. His hand on his weapon he carefully approached. “I have seen you. What do you want?” he stood where he was. After a moment the girl stepped around the vehicle.
“Did you find her?” she asked clearly worried.
“Who are you talking about?” the captain keeps his voice careful.
“Sara Miller,” she said quickly.
This name surprised the man. The last time he saw her she has left with Jesper Strange.
“What did she do?”
“She was naked. She had a knife. She was looking for someone.” She said quickly. She keeps looking around making sure no one was nearby.
“Where did you see her?”
“In the club. I hide.” She whispered.
“I was just in the club. There was no one.” He said firmly.
“She was there. She was looking for someone. I saw her sniffing the air. She looked like a dog the way she was acting.” The girl looks around seem to listen before she suddenly turns around and run.
The captain slowly climbed into the cruiser. He reached for his radio.
“Gregor, where are you going?” Jesper follows him.
“You are a fool,” he said over his shoulder.
“Just leave me alone.” Jesper stopped following him. He suddenly turned in a different direction. He now walked towards the mansion on the hill. It has start worrying him that the crows seemed to have abandoned him.
“Jesper Strange,” Gregor called from where he stood watching him. “You have forgotten the path. You were pulled into corruption.” He said matter of fact.
“What are you talking about?” he attempts to walk back towards him but the man starts running. He tried following but Gregor Drake was gone.
“I am Jesper Strange. You know my name, not my story. Who am I?” he questions himself.
