Chapter 35: Consequences
Chapter 35: Consequences
“Enough of this old woman,” Erick Dawn stepped into the office like he belongs. “This is the last time you stand in my way. “I will have her,”
“I won’t allow this,” Madame Clarke said just as furiously.
“You don’t have a choice.” Erick stepped closer to her. He lifts his hand slapping her viciously through the face. He watches with cruel pleasure as she stumbles and fall. His cold hard eyes focus on Bette. She knows that look very well. She stepped closer now looming over the fallen body of ‘her mother-in-law’
“You will regret this, Bette,” she said from the floor.
“No, I won’t. Once you are out of the way, I will have full control.” Bette said with a twisted look on her face.
“There are consequences in the shadows. This creature has fooled you.” Madame Clarke warn. Her private truth, she was playing for time.
“Enough of your nonsense, old woman.” Bette lifts her foot and slowly pushed down onto her chest. She watched her face contort with pain. It starts to puzzle her when she noticed her expression. Her eyes bulging with pain was focus on Erick.
“What are you looking at, old woman?” Erick suddenly pushed Bette away from Madame Clarke.
“I see, you. I know what you are hiding,” she whispers.
“Fuck you,” Erick stood looking down at her. She keeps wearing the same faint smile. It was like she was having the last joke.
“Go to hell. I am the winner,” he said shaking his head.
“What does Esra think?” she asked painfully.
“He has no say. I control both our futures.” Erick feels the unbelievable urge to kick her but he can feel Esra fighting for control. “Not now, Esra.” He suddenly hissed.
“Master,” Bette looks confused.
“Shut up bitch,” Erick shakes his head but he was losing. There was something in the old woman’s eyes that seem to pull Esra from his hiding.
“Esra,” she calls softly.
Bette tried reaching the man who looks like he was having a seizure. The moment she touched him; her arm was nearly ripped out of her shoulder.
“Get away from me,” the voice that now spoke wasn’t Erick. There were strength and authority. Stunned she watches him getting onto his feet. He quickly approached madame Clarke. She was reaching out to him.
“I am sorry,” he whispers kneeling beside her. He took hold of her shaking hand.
“Grace,” she whispers.
“What should I do?” he asked softly.
“Consequences,” she whispers.
“What is it?” he asked urgently.
“There is something out here. Can you sense it?” Madame Clarke looks at him before she suddenly closed her eyes. He reached for a table cloth to cover her face. As he stood up, he slowly looked towards Bette.
“Where is Grace?” he demanded to know.
“Why do you sound so strange, Erick?” she dared to asked stepping closer with the intention of touching his face.
“Don’t touch me,” Esra brutally pushed her away from him. “You are a bloody whore. I don’t associate with people like you.” He said in absolute fury and disgust.
“What the hell is wrong with you, Erick? You made me the person I am.” Bette said from the corner of the room.
Esra looks at her with distain. He turns on his heels going in search of Grace. The moment he stepped into her bedroom, everything still within him. He instantly feels the loneliness and neglect. He also senses she was hiding herself within herself.
“Where are you, Grace?” he asked softly. He moves to go and sit on her bed. He reaches for her pillow. He can smell her scent. The longer he was holding the pillow he realized she has cried many a night into the soft material. “I love you, Grace Clarke.” He said firmly. “Where are you hiding?” he suddenly stood from the bed.
The driver stopped just outside of the cemetery. He looks at the visible worried young woman He keeps quiet, as he has very specific instructions. His eyes searched around wondering who would approach them. He was so focused ahead, finding himself startled into awareness when the back door opened.
“Miss Clarke,” The big ugly man dressed in black holds his hand for her to take.
Grace slowly climbed from the back of the car. She carefully placed her small hand into his. She watches a strange transformation happening on his face.
Gregor Drake find himself in another universe but in reality, he was where he should be. He looks into the eyes of Grace Clarke but was seeing her past. He saw the groundskeeper making his appearance. His behavior at first looks very suspicious. As he approached the man, he quietly turns and slipped through a gate he never even noticed.
“Sir,” Grace touches him with her free hand. She has noticed the trance he went into. She instinctively senses the man somehow knew who she was.
Gregor still found himself trap in her gaze seeing not her but her grandmother, He had been working on church grounds when he first noticed her. The woman was holding a basket. He actively watches her curious. He noticed she wasn’t entering the church. His eyes quickly look around wondering who she might be visiting. There currently were various activities happening on the grounds but it was now clear he was the only one who noticed the woman with the basket.
Across the distance, the look in her eyes compel him to come closer. The moment he stood in front of her; the silent woman’s eyes told him to looked into the basket. He didn’t know how but she was commanding him with her thoughts. He simply obeys. She made sure he remembers her name.
“Grace Clarke,” he finally focused on the present.
“You know my name?” she asked puzzled.
“I know the reason you are here. It was foretold.” He said sincerely.
“By whom?” Grace was shocked.
“Madame Clarke, please follow me.”
Whatever was happening, she decides to place her faith in her grandmother. She was worried though, what was going on in the mansion.
Jesper slowly lift his head up, listening. It took him several minutes before he understood there was such silence around him. The longer he listens the more he feels his life was about to change. Getting onto his feet, he starts walking towards the door.
“Jesper,” the voice said. He stops and looks around. He was alone in the cottage.
“Where are you?” he had recognized the voice.
“Around you, she is coming.” Madame Clarke said, sadness in her voice.
“Who,” the drums start beating. The drums are calling. He recognized the meaning…”I accept…”
