CHAPTER 161 — UTTERLY DONE FOR

BRIELLE.

"Eat!" Draken yelled, shoving the stale maggot-filled meat into her mouth.

"No!" Brielle hummed, her mouth securely shut, refusing the foul food. Even though her stomach hurt so much, she would sooner die than consume the trash.

"Fucking eat!" He roared again, his eyes glowering with rage, but she still refused.

How could she eat live maggots and risk herself even more? She couldn't afford it at all. He was better off torturing her than forcing her to take that poison.

As if reading her mind, he spat viciously on her face. "If you don't eat this, I'll have to burn your skin with the scalding iron." It's right over there, as you can see.” He pointed to a wooden table in the corner of the room.

Brielle shuddered, tears streaming down her cheeks at the unspeakable pain she would experience if he used the metal iron on her. She could almost hear her screams echoing around the cell, each nerve ending on fire as the flames licked her skin and burnt her alive.

Still, she refused to accede to the nasty man's request.

So she nodded hurriedly, her throat hurting, and she closed her eyes, waiting for the pain to strike. And it came. Draken walked to the table, grabbed the iron, and returned to her.

"So you'd rather I torture you with this, huh?" He scoffed, but she didn't say anything. Nothing came out from her lips.

"Well then…" He paused, and before Brielle could count to two, she felt the searing iron on her bare thighs.

"Arghhhhh…" She screamed, feeling her hair stand on end as hot, burned metal touched her exposed flesh.

"That's what you get when you disobey my orders," Draken muttered. "Since you didn't eat the stale meat, then you would have no food till tomorrow when I might be generous to give you something better."

His sneer was nasty, and Brielle heard the guards around her laugh along with him.

Sick lots. Miserable and useless lots. Every one of them.

"Do you know…" Draken broke the silence that had briefly fallen. "The pictures I've been taking, I just sent them to Darius Havix."

Brielle gasped, her eyes widening as she listened to him talk about how Darius would probably feel some sympathy for her and then rush to her rescue.

Brielle wiped another tear from her cheek, wondering if Darius would sympathize with her. Would he come to her help like he did the last time Delilah sold her off?

She would never forget the nasty words he had uttered to her the last time they spoke. She remembered the hurt look in his eyes, but something else was there. Hate and contempt.

That glance alone reminded Brielle of how much Lord Darius disliked her, and nothing could ever bring him here.

Draken could send as many photos and messages as he wanted, but nothing would change.

Worse, this was only a trap. That is something Darius must have known. So the chances of him coming were very slim.

Brielle, sniffing her tears and feeling rebellious again, spoke in a raspy voice. "As I previously stated, Darius would not come since he despises me. No matter what photographs you provide him, he will not appear. I'm better off dead to him if you don’t know. And if you confront him, he will undoubtedly defeat you.”

“Foolish girl…" Draken cursed and smacked her cheeks. Brielle spat out blood.

"Don't you fucking say that to me ever again!" He warned, grasping her neck with his fists.

His fingers tightened around her neck, and he began to squeeze so firmly that she was afraid she might pass out from the pressure.

She started coughing, her shackled hands moving to his wrists. She begged him to stop, but his eyes hardened, and he refused to let go.

She couldn't take it anymore and was about to give up when an idea occurred. A thought that would undoubtedly cause him to leave her. Brielle rolled her eyes, opened her mouth, and stopped speaking. She had just faked a faint.

With her eyes closed, she became limp in his arms. Her tactic strangely worked because Draken relaxed his grip on her throat. He slipped a finger in the crook of her arm, checking her pulse to see whether she was still breathing.

She was, but only dimly. He let out an audible hiss. "She passed out! The surly bitch!"

He yelled at the guards, who laughed in return. What was so funny? Brielle wondered.

She could hear Draken's footsteps retreating. He was finally leaving. A sigh of relief nearly escaped her throat, but she held it in and remained motionless. Some incorrigible comments were uttered amongst the guards, and while Brielle couldn't understand what they were saying, she felt happy hearing their receding footsteps.

As the steel door closed loudly behind them, an unsettling silence returned to the cell, and Brielle forced her eyes open. She took a long breath, hoping to gain strength and calm her beating heart, but to no avail.

The tears burning at the back of her eyes ran down in folds, and she wailed hard.

Oh, she was completely done for!
