Chapter 30 Attacked

Chapter 30 Attacked
TARA:
It had been six days since I last saw Eddie. I waited every morning and afternoon for him to show up but he never did.
Combining training with school had proven to be the worst decision anybody could ever make.

I usually spend my entire day in school, and after that, I go for training. Sometimes, I don't even get the chance to go to the house. On days I knew I wouldn't go to the house, I carried my uniform to school.

On this particular Friday, I was too tired to go out for any training that evening.

Every part of my body ached and I felt sick. I explained to the Alpha, though I wasn't expecting much. But he surprised me and said I could take a break till the next week.

I was overjoyed and almost hugged him.
"Since you won't be doing anything today write down the list of everything you would need and I'll have someone get it for you." He ordered.

"Okay, Alpha." I ran to my room to get a pen and paper. After that, I ran back to the Alpha's veranda but he was nowhere to be found.
"He must have left for training." I shrugged. I leaned toward the open window, admiring the beautiful sky as the sun painted it reddish orange with its setting. It was beautiful to watch the sun rise and set, the most fascinating part of my day.

After watching to my fill, I began to write down the things that my homeroom teacher had asked me to get.
And yes, I had become comfortable wearing trousers and shorts. I now preferred them to gowns and skirts. I feel naked when wearing the latter.

I swore I could sense a presence behind me but I didn't bother turning because nobody except the Alpha and I stayed there. And I knew for sure that the Alpha had gone out.

After writing, I went through the list. Just to make sure that I wasn't forgetting anything.
"You've gotton accustomed to shorts." I heard from behind me. I tried to turn but I ended up bumping into a hard surface. While rubbing my forehead, I looked up to see the Alpha gazing at me with his usual cold eyes.

"Alpha..." I whispered, looking into his eyes. He was unusually close to me. It was supposed to make me uncomfortable but instead, my heart raced faster.
"I was trying to write down—"

"You smell like flowers. Why?" He interrupted me.

"I think it's the flowers around. They're everywhere."

"I'm an Alpha, Tara. I know where exactly a scent is coming from."
Before I could reply, he leaned in to my neck. He sniffed my neck, fanning my skin with his hot breath.

I stiffened, my cheeks probably turning red. I held my breath, my knees feeling like jelly.
"Alpha?" I called out.

He held my arms and squeezed them roughly. I squeaked and eloped from his grip.

"You're still very weak." He remarked coldly, like he hadn't just done something intimate with me.
I rubbed her strangled arms, glaring at him.

"I'm trying my best, Alpha. It's not that easy,"

"I'm going out now. Make sure you write down everything and give it to me by tonight or tomorrow before you go out. Okay?" He ruffled my hair. I had spent hours trying to fix it.

"Okay, Alpha."

"And also," He dropped his hand from my head. "Why don't you start practicing what you've been learning? Make something for me tonight."

"Huh?" My eyes widened in shock. "You want me to cook for you?" I was in disbelief. "Alpha, are you sure?"

He cocked a brow. "You've been going there for almost three weeks now. You should be able to make something nice, right?"

"Riiiiight..." I smiled knowingly. "I'll get to it. What would you like to have?"

"You're the chef. I think I have some stuff in the kitchen. Just come up with something you feel I'd enjoy. Besides, I eat anything." He shrugged.

"Hmmm. Anything..." I folded my arms, thinking hard. "Okay, I will see what I can do with what you have."

"Sure. See you after."
He stepped out after a brief silent stare.

The feeling of loneliness overwhelmed me after I watched him step out through the door.

My mind drifted to Eddie. I hadn't seen him around since the encounter with Beta Rowan. I wished I could see him but he seemed to have disappeared into thin air.

I entered the Alpha's kitchen to see that it was quite stocked up. I settled on making spaghetti and sauce. I used the sardines that were inside to add to the sauce. By the time I was done, it was already dark.

I waited for the Alpha for a long time but he never showed up.
I retreated to my room to rest and ended up sleeping for a long time. When I woke up, there was food on my nightstand.

"Didn't he like the food?" My spirit which was already low got washed down the drain. "Or he just got it, right?" I wasn't so hungry, so I ditched it. I got down from my bed, opened the door, and stepped out. I wanted to take a walk that night. I even forgot to check the time.

As I walked around, I saw a pool.

Wait, was I in a dream again?
I pinched myself hard and I ended up feeling the pain. I never knew the pool existed in real life.

"Okay, not a dream," I noted. I approached the pool. It was just as I had dreamed, only that this time in real life, it was empty.

It was sparkling blue, as mesmerizing as the night sky. But what happened next wasn't as pleasing as any of the two. I saw a figure, all dressed in black, jumping over the fence.

I was scared, watching him or her moving stealthily but I was too stunned to move. I wanted to see what would happen next but I needed to hide for that to be possible. Because I thought the person hadn't seen me, I tried to move but I ended up slipping. I squealed because of the sudden action, making the person turn to me.

I froze, as though a bucket of cold water had been dumped on my body.
I was able to make out to figure enough to know that it was a male. He started taking slow, predatory steps toward me. I kept moving back until there was nowhere else to move to.

Every part of his body was covered in black, except for his captivating eyes. As I looked into his eyes, I sensed a kind of familiarity from him. But I had never met anyone with such eyes in the North. Who could it be?

We didn't say anything to each other until like 30 seconds had flown by. It was as though time had stopped.
Why wasn't I running away like a normal person who had sensed danger? I didn't need a wolf to alert me that he had a killer intent.

He brought out a knife from behind him, holding it firmly.
My heart raced against my ribcage, threatening to burst open. Was he going to kill me because I caught him? Why didn't I just stay in my room?

He sharply turned and instinctively, I turned too. In that instant, I felt the tip of the knife driving into my lower abdomen.
"Sweet dreams," I heard him say.

The last thing I heard was the splashing of water.
