54. Venus Speaks
Venus POV

“Why isn’t Maven back?” Benjamin, my husband complained he may be worried about his friend, but I certainly wasn’t. His wife had gone with him, and I trusted her completely. She was a great witch. She could handle anything, and I knew that the little bitch wouldn’t get away and her fucking mate.

I still didn’t understand why no one seemed to know who he was though. I recognized him immediately, not from having ever seen him, but his tan skin and his short stature, as well as his long black hair. It was clear to me. He was in Northerner and since he was there at the Halloween party that this particular alpha was throwing. He knew where it was which meant he had been there before. He wasn’t some dumb rogue or some random Northerner I’d made sure all those packs good and gone and that the last of the northern wolves were changed. No more white damn fur. I was so happy I knew my goddess would be pleased. She would be thrilled, though she wasn’t speaking to me at the moment, but she never was that big into communicating with her devout.

Benjamin was getting increasingly worried which made me increasingly annoyed. Why had I done this to myself? I should have just killed them all. Maybe use the human weapons. I could have used guns and shot them all dead, though every shot would have had to be heads shots. Otherwise, they would have all survived and that would have been a problem. How dare Cassius for abandoning me? I was his fucking sister, my father and I took him in, and this is how he chooses to repay us, by abandoning us. I was disgusted, with him, and would never forgive him.

This mate of his, that bitch, took my brother for me, from my family and everything he was raised to believe in. I knew it would come crawling back, it was only a matter of time before he came back to his senses. I had come to realize that werewolves or shifters or whatever they wanted to call themselves were dumb as a box of bricks. I was basically having to re-teach this whole pack, but I was now in charge of them and eventually they would come to their senses. Just like Cassius would.

A few days past and still no word from my coven member or Maven. My husband was really starting to worry, and that meant Benjamin was really getting on my nerves. I was contemplating killing him. It was a struggle, but I needed him to control his pack just until I could figure out how to destroy the mate bonds that were still happening. I made the dumb alpha realize there was no reason to be leaning into that. I encouraged him to take my advice and pair people off. I explained, using myself and Benjamin as an example, saying that marrying for power was the best way. That it was diversity and would change bloodlines and power. I knew that I needed to continue to preach this topic to other packs.

Unfortunately, that made it, so I had to keep my husband, alive. But that didn’t mean I had to sleep with him anymore, thank fuck. He was disgusting and what he called making love was more like treating me like an animal and humping me into the bed. No, I had a warlock I saw on the side and thank the goodness he knew how to treat me and could do magic things that damn wolf couldn’t.

Once Benjamin wore out his usefulness, I would kill him. I would play the grieving widow for a time the pack would see everything. All the good I had done for them, and they would be thankful. As a thank you and being so indebted to me they would be more than happy to welcome in my warlock. Then the real life I wanted, and the husband I wanted would come to fruition. I had a long-term goal set out one that I’ve concocted with my father one that I have not divulged even my brother.

Cassius couldn’t be trusted. He was a dumb dog. He’d claim I made him feel that way, but the truth was he proved that. He chose his bitch mate over me and what he was raised to believe. He should have just killed his mate, when he found out what she was to him. It would have proved that he wasn’t in fact what I always suspected. He would have ensured his long life and one of power.

“Darling, I think we need to send out a search party for Maven. He is my beta, after all, and I do need him. He should be back by now.  I’m worried something happened and if something did that is something that needs to be resolved. If something can kill a beta that is a serious threat.” Benjaman implored me.

Like we would be infiltrated I laid powerful rune work with the coven to protect this pack. There would be nothing crossing it except for animals' wild ones. Not ones that could shift into human form. “I told you Benjamin nothing will cross into pack territory except for animals' wild ones not shifters or anything alike without our distinct permission. Do you not trust me?” I asked batting my long black eyelashes.

This sap he was always caved. “Of course I trust you if I didn’t, I wouldn’t have pulled our patrol. But Maven was taken outside of our pack territory.” Loyalty to a fault it would’ve be admirable if it was loyalty towards me, but it wasn’t. He was still Loyal towards his stupid mutts, and I hated it.  “How about we send out two scouts, would that make you feel better? They could go looking for him” I said, trying to give him a little leash. He needed it. He was just like a child. I was disgusted.
