52. Strategy

52. Strategy
Sol POV

I couldn’t believe this was happening another war that’s what it was going to come down to. I needed to strategize on how to fight and win. I knew how to make strategic moves this I knew I had been trained for. I may not have been good with people, and I understood that I could be nice and cordial, but I was not in the least bit congenial. But fighting I knew that war strategy, reading between the lines, that was where I excelled. Those were my best skill, I was a great hunter, but combat was my sweet spot.

The first thing we’d need was intel. Information was always key to everything. If you knew your enemy, you could take them down, and Cassius knew my enemy, better than anyone I would have at my disposal. I turned to him. Quickly glancing back at my cousin and his new mate. “what I need you guys to do is go get your vehicle back and also you need to find a huge area to clear some land.” I said to them, it had been a command. They both nodded before they left.

Then I face my mate once again. “You’re going to stand here and you’re going to tell me everything you know, about your sister, her coven, and your stepfather, even just general knowledge on witches. Every single thing, no matter how small or miniate it could be.” that was an all I told him I paused for a long moment, catching my breath. “then you’re going to tell me what you know about fighting them how to win. Does it have to be close combat like it was with Maven’s wife, who you killed or something else is there a way to neutralize them?”

I needed all this information, we needed to know our enemy. We also need to set up a warning system in case they came back before we were ready. The area I needed Quientin and Belle to find was going to be cleared later that day or this evening and we’re going to start training in hand a hand combat. I did work with a pack already on fighting, but it wasn’t near as in-depth as it should be. We didn’t need to have formal training, I had thought when people started to join. Most of the rogues were good fighters, but for an actual battle, everyone needed to be trained in a certain way.

I’d also want to get with Kimi and talk to her about the last war. My mother fought in the one. It had nearly destroyed her sanity. I wanted to prevent that if I could for any of Blood Born Pack. I didn’t think that was a realistic goal, but I would try to minimize the mental toll as best I could, though I had no idea how.

Kimi to my understanding was vital in the last war and learning from history was one way to have an upper hand. We also need to increase our numbers desperately it was late in fall being early November. The snow had yet to come, it was late for this time of year and where we were located, I knew we wouldn’t be gaining any more wolves until spring, we just wouldn’t, well it was not likely. We could train in the snow, I knew that might be hard for some of the pack, but it was something they would have to learn how to cope with.

All of that was going on but there was even more to consider. Even if Benjaman and those other wolves and witches never came after us, war was inevitable. We would actively have to hunt them. The coven and all those from my old pack who turned their backs on the goddess would have to be put down.

It meant that I would need to teach people here how to track not just animals, but are kind and witches, which meant I need to know how to track them. My mate when he was using that potion, his sister gave him, it stopped his sent. That I knew would play a role in all of this and I needed to figure out how to counter it. A lot was going through my mind, and I was feeling overwhelmed.  Cassius had to have sensed it or seen it on my face because he closed the distance between us and put his arm on my shoulder. He looked at me with a serious expression, before he said. “if anyone could take out my sister and stepfather’s Coven, it would be you and we will do as the goddess commanded.”

I wondered if he was nervous, having found out that his father was burning and Tartarus right now. That would freak me out. Then there what the goddess said about him being able to speak to natural wolves. I wondered if his sister knew he had that talent for it. If not, that would be a clear advantage, and we could infiltrate the pack and get eyes on them at all times that would be how we went undercover and one possible way to gain the upper hand, possibly even steal things from them that could be useful to us.

“I need you to start practicing every day with the natural wolves in the wild. I need them to be completely under your control.” I told him. I felt like a general, with how I spoke. I had never been this commanding. I never had a reason to be. I was normally easy-going but under all of that I knew this is what I was good at: fighting, battle plans. I would’ve been a hell of a beta, my lack of people skills and my foresight and watching people made me a master at understanding the way people acted. I could always plan things out. My lack in the art of communication didn’t take away my senses, it almost made me more attune to them. It made me a formidable opponent as I watched and dissected the way people acted and now was my time to exploit my strategic gift.
