51. Discussions and Running
Cassius POV
Sol and I woke up from our shared dream. It had been with the goddess, and I don’t know why it left me feeling so horrible. It wasn’t what she asked us to do. It was the fact that I knew my father was being eternally punished for his miss doings. I had spent so many years on this earth idolizing him and his views and now I knew how wrong he was.
It was an unnerving, and just an overall unsettling experience. The way the goddess, my creator looked at me. It made me feel horrible and I felt guilty. I had changed a lot of my views since meeting Sol, my mate. But to come face-to-face with a person I openly was against my whole life was something else entirely. I didn’t know how to feel about it. What unnerve me the most was that my father I’d never see him again, unless I went against the goddess, then I would see him. I would be caged next to my father burning and being tortured for all of eternity.
I didn’t even know that was a real place. I thought it was myth. I thought the garden itself was a myth, but they real and so was the goddess. What she had said was true, her saying it did proved it. Thinking about it made a chill run up my spine. I didn’t want to be like my father, I couldn’t be like him. And the fact that the goddess had openly said that my father was the one she loathed the most out of all over her children was rather horrible.
I could feel her power just standing in her presence. There was no way I would go against her. My stepfather and stepsister were so wrong, and their cronies were wrong. The fact that their own God had turned on them and wanted them dead because of what they had done was just without words. I couldn’t even fathom it. I couldn’t even fathom that I had stood in the presence of a celestial being, let alone my creator.
“We need to talk to my cousin.” Sol said sitting up and getting out of bed. That’s right the goddess did say that Quientin did have quite a story to tell and that he would divulge everything that had happened. We needed to know what exactly went down why Maven chased him. We both quickly dressed and rushed out, going to his A-frame and knocking on the door. There was no answer. “I wonder if they’re camped out? I bet they went off to seal the bond before they came here.” Sol said. I replied with “Wouldn’t they have already done it,” Sol shrugged and added “He might’ve waited until he came back. They’ll come to us when they’re done.” she said, and I nodded.
She went to go check on Kimi as I went and round and told the twenty five pack members that the threat was gone for now, but we would have more information for them soon. I told them we would be formulating a plan based off that. They seemed on edge, knowing the news, but that was no surprise to me. Our pack was comprised of rogues, out casts, people that have been pushed out of their pack. Of course they would be scared.
But like I predicted, and what Sol’s father said in the letter they were loyal, and all of them agreed that they would fight to defend what we created here. I went back to the A-frame and sat on the porch. Sol soon came back and a few hours later Quientin was walking up with his mate. Sol stood as i did and we approached the couple. “Nice to meet you, Belle isn’t it?” The woman nodded and Sol went on. “This would normally be a nice greeting and a good time to have a new member of our pack, but I need you to swear now to join and then I need a full accounting of what happened.” She spoke.
She was commanding, and it was intimidating seeing her like this. I wondered if it had to do with the dream and meeting the goddess. I found it attractive, her being forceful like this. It was like she was coming into her own as the alpha she was supposed to be. She was all work now, and it was clear in her face and the way she articulated when she spoke to Belle. I always felt like she had a strategic mind, but it was showing now, what she lacked in social skills was made up for, in the way her mind worked.
Belle did as I did the night before and swore in, by cutting her hand and binding herself to Sol claiming her as her alpha. “Good, now that, that is done tell me what happened both of you.” She said. Quientin nodded and began. “Well I told you I was going to see Bella out right.” Again, so nodded.
“Right well I did they were in the middle of a huge party a Halloween one Benjamin was there as well as Maven and both their wives they had taken. They weren’t mates, but they were married. Apparently, Maven was married to the witch that I had followed us. That’s what Belle told me.” Both of us looked to Belle and she confirmed that was what she had been told when they had came.
Belle then started talking “My father throws this party every year, and they came to it this year. They were talking about making matches for those over the age of 18 saying that the mate balls were damned and all this crazy stuff my father was buying into it. I don’t know why but he was. Quienten showed up and I felt the mate bond immediately. With the way the discussions were heading it wasn’t looking promising for the two of us to be together, so I agreed to leave with Quienten and we could complete the mating bond here. He said that Blood Born Pack respected the mate bond, and the goddess plan for all of us. With what was being discussed at the party and how they openly were contradicting this belief I agreed, and we left.”
Quientin started telling the story again at this point when she paused “So we started heading home I found out as we were traveling, Belle filled me in on the discussions that had been going on. Benjamin and his wife Venus were going around trying to teach new ideas to packs and basically redoing everything Luna Kaya had been trying to change."
"They were actively undoing everything she had ever done. Anyways they must’ve seen us sneak out or maybe when I was loading up Belle’s things I don’t know, but we got to a point on the road, and I knew we were being followed. I tried to loose them, and thought I had but when we stopped for gas I caught Maven's scent, he was still on our tail. I insisted we would run. We got into the woods and I was going to kill him. But then I saw his wife and we ran. I thought we would loose them but his wife kept pace with us, she wasn’t a wolf and it freaked me out. Then we arrived and you know the rest.”
