Chapter 6 Heating Reality

The amount of anger that was radiating from my body, I was sure it was enough to terrorize anyone but Serena! She just stood there unaffected smiling at my Nathan as if she had known him all her life. She knew I was burning holes in her face, but the audacity of this woman always left me in a state of shock. If I will have to rate my own yelling, I will definitely rate it as the world's scariest yelling, but Serena just remained unfazed by me. Like I didn't affect her now in any way!

Can this really be possible in one night? Was my love so weak that she had managed to throw me out of her life in every way possible to not even flinch at my angry tone?

My body was becoming stiff with every second, not because I felt any love for at the moment but because of the fear. Fear that she might just take my Nathan away from me! And I was sure if she decides to become a hurdle in my way now, she will face the worst that she could have ever imagined.

She left me hanging, and I bared that, but I will never bear it if she wants to snatch my only support from me.

With the same thoughts lurking in my mind, I snapped harshly again, "I think you forgot your way Ms. Waldorf because last time I checked, you made it clear that you were not coming anywhere close to me. So what brings you in front of my abode?"

Turning her head finally in my direction, she gave me a blank look at first but then as her gaze got locked with mine, I saw a flash of pain passing through her features. My anger started to disappear as I saw bags under her eyes. If I knew better, then I was sure she has been crying the other day for hours, but why?

It was her decision to leave me, so why would she even cry for a man who was lost and trapped in the agony of his life?

"Dad!!" Nathan's soft voice broke our trance and I realized that I might have scared him with my yelling.

A look of surprise as well as a shock was plastered on Serena's face, but I shifted my attention to Nathan rather than bothering about my ex-girlfriend or rather ex-fiancée.

Holding Nathan's hand, I took him inside not wanting to create a scene in the middle of the street because it was getting crowded and surely, I didn't want my little man to feel uncomfortable with the chaos of my life.

As soon as I reached the main area, my staff greeted me with confused looks on their faces, but I know the reason for their frowning faces. But it wasn't the time to sort their doubts.

Turning my attention to the cashier Jenna who was a sweet lady in her mid-forties, I instructed: "Jenna, keep Nathan with you while I get rid of some people.”

My comment was directed at Serena who I saw through peripheral vision because I knew she followed me and even if she wouldn't have, I would have gone out to put some sense in her.

Giving an assuring look to Nathan, I hurried towards Serena who looked a little taken aback by my sudden changing personality. But I wasn't going to give her the satisfaction that she had turned me into ashes.

If due to my past I was burnt, the last day was the dead-end for me.

Grabbing her wrist, without uttering another word, I dragged her in my cabin which was in the corridor that leads towards the billiards room, and Squash room which was constructed keeping in mind the likings of the youth so that they can have some fun time for themselves after dining.

Once inside my cabin, I pushed her inside. She looked at me angrily while I was sure my gaze wasn't any different.

Locking the door, turning around I loosened my tie with my eyes burning her.

"Why the hell are you here again? Wasn't yesterday enough to show me how much of a destroyer I am for you that you are here again today?" My rude voice echoed in the room and her eyes turned soft but immediately she masked her softness. This sudden change was annoying me because I was still feeling something weird in her. But most of all, why was my heart screaming at me for lashing at her?

This heart!! This damn stupid organ should really be dumped in the trash can so that no human will face the pain of love.

"I didn't come here on my own. I was passing by, so I saw Nathaniel standing there. Since I have always seen him on the bridge, so I just happened to recognize him. Not wanting anyone to think of him as an intruder, I was just inquiring him about his reasons for standing there." She answered which was more like snapping at me.

I ran my hands through my hairs, frustrated and irritated with her presence. Her mere fragrance around me was creating havoc in my system. All I wanted to do was to take her in a bone-crushing hug, but I knew she wasn't going to like it. And the thought itself was breaking me into billions of pieces from within like a mirror shatters on the floor.

"And just so you know just because you are in this place, it doesn't mean that I won't talk to others too. Anyways, I will leave". She added giving me an annoyed look which was hurting me. At one time, she loved intruding on my space even if I will tell her to get lost but just in a day, she has changed so much.

She was about to pass beside me when I suddenly grabbed her by her forearms shocking even me. Pinning her to the nearest wall, I caged her between my strong body and the wall.

I can hear her heart beating at a fast rate, while our proximity was making her sweat. She kept her eyes on my chest while my eyes scanned her face. And once again I felt myself falling in love with her. Not because of her beauty but because of the innocence she carries with herself.

"Leave me Daniel". She pleaded to push me away through my chest, but she wasn't using her entire strength. It was a half-hearted attempt to get away from me, but I wasn't letting her do that.

She was an addiction for me, and I wanted her for myself.

"Stop fighting when your heart doesn't want to fight". I stated as a matter of a fact and she finally raised her eyelids to take a glance at me.

The second our eyes met; tears brimmed in them. And it was enough for me to lean in and console her with the help of my lips because she always found peace in my kisses.

"I am still yours, Serena."

I kissed her eyes making her grip my collars tightly. Her lips began trembling as her eyes started shedding their waters on coming in contact with my lips. I never knew I can make her so weak and vulnerable. It was really a new revelation for me.

Sucking at her tears from her right side to left, I began peppering kisses on her cheeks. She wrapped her arms around my neck completely lost in the moment while I gripped her waist tightly pulling her to myself. Her front brushed against my own and my desire to have her back in my life increased more.

"Daniel". She moaned my name in her sweet lacy voice like she always used to do but since the past week, we didn't even converse because she wouldn't even glance at me.

"Serena," I breathed on her lips whispering her name softly, and finally not able to hold myself and this separation anymore, I crashed my lips on hers.

Our lips moved against the other as I tried to make her believe in my love once again. I bit on her bottom lip making her gasp but before I can slip my tongue inside her mouth to taste her nectar, she pushed me away as if she came back in her senses.

I stumbled backward due to her sudden action; my eyes widen in disbelief because the look I saw on her face was something I never expected to see.

Disgust!! Did she really feel so disgusted with me?

"How can you do this to me? Did you forget we broke up yesterday? You know what Daniel, I regret us!" She yelled at me but her statement in the last took away Everything from me. I can't believe she said this.

I kept on watching her as her eyes shed tears of hatred and disgust for me. But getting over my shock, I marched up to her once again.

But this time instead of trying to deal with her with my broken self, I gripped her shoulders tightly, and yelled with everything in me, "You are wrong Ms. Serena Waldorf. It's you who broke up with me not the other way round. And why are you so disgusted with me? What have I even done to you that you have the gall to say that you regret us? Didn't you ever love me? Didn't you ever feel anything for me even once? How can you even think of leaving me?"

Pushing me away once again with all her strength, she clapped her hands and mocked, "Great, simply great Mr. Daniel Price! So, you don't know what you have done for me to break up with you then please go in your past records of the past two years we have spent together and see for yourself, of what you have done. I am sure you will get the answer and if you still don’t then forget what you did a week back. And you know what, you can never change, because you don't want to open up ever to anyone but you want to punish Everyone because of that one Girl. And sorry to say but what you have for me is not love but obsession and I don't need that.”

If I wasn't already dead, then I would have died at that moment after hearing her heartless and shrewd words. This can't be my Serena; she can never talk to me like this. She loved me so much. Then how can she call my love an obsession for her?

I kept on watching her with a motionless face while tears were still flowing out of her eyes. The eyes which I love the most. The eyes made me fall in love with her.

"You will never let me in Daniel, and I can never live like that with you. I wish you would have trusted me enough to talk Everything about her and your family, but you didn't. Instead, you kept locking yourself and with you, even I am locked in those chains of pain. I want my freedom. I am not a doll who can be kept in the four walls throughout and until you don't get over your issues, you will never understand me." She added looking away from me, but I can sense deep excruciating pain in her voice.

Her heartbreak was visible on her face, but she was trying to mask it in front of me but why was she hurting Us? I don't care about my pain or my grief, but I can't see her hurting herself.

"You never bothered about my past before then why now?"

I finally asked the question that was haunting me since yesterday, but I no longer can hold this anguish anymore inside me. I needed to vent out.

She gave me a heartbroken smile while her red puffy eyes were making me feel guilty. Did I really do this to her? Was my love really an obsession for her?

Her presence was now making my entire body ache because the pain of my heart was spreading throughout and I just wanted to collapse on the ground and scream to the heavens for some mercy. Her angry eyes were making me feel guilty. They were reminding me of my own faults now. And my strength was being snatched away from me.

But I still wanted to give it one more try. Just one last try to save me from my own demons.

"This is where your answer lies, Daniel. You never thought about me but only about hiding your past that is the reason you never understood my need to know about you. But I gave you all the space, I was waiting patiently for you to open up but what did you do all these days. I don't have to voice out. If you are man enough, then realize your own follies and make yourself a better person if not for me then for someone else." She answered in a hoarse voice. Her teary gaze staring right through me and I immediately lowered my eyes to the ground as images of my own past and life with her started flashing Infront of me.

And with every memory, my heart twisted in knots burdening me with this unbearable guilt.

She turned around to leave, and I didn't know what came over me, but I just ran and held her one hand in my hold.

Sitting down on my knees, I begged her, "Please don't go. Give me one chance. Please Serena. I know you love me as much as I love you. But don't punish me this way. Please!"

My dam finally broke from my eyes, but she didn't turn her head towards my direction. I sensed her body going stiff under my hold while her sobbing increased with every second. But still, she didn't turn around.

I was on my knees pleading with her, but she didn't accept me. She was brutally rejecting me and the thought itself was driving me insane. I was mad with anger now.

"It's too late Daniel. The thing that can help you, you are never going to do that, and I don't want to risk myself anymore with you. I...Am...Sorry". She outrightly killed me once again jerking away from my hold while I sat there gazing at her retreating back.

"If you step out of this room today, Serena then remember that I will never take you back in the future." I threatened her hoping this will make her change her mind. But when had things gone in my way.

She halted on her step, holding the door open with one hand, and without any emotion in her voice, I heard her cold reply, "Then I guess it's a goodbye, Daniel!"

And then she walked out on me for the second time in the week while I sat there like a defeated man watching my love go away from me.

I didn't know for how many seconds, minutes, and hours I just sat there with my tears cascading down. My blurry vision now started to make it difficult for me to look around, but wiping off my eyes, I stood up angrily.

"Ah," I punched the nearby wall with my fist, and then like a wounded tiger, marching towards my big mahogany desk, I knocked Everything out from the table.

From my laptop to pens to files everything was lying on the floor but that wasn't enough to cool me down.

Further, I crashed the chairs, couch, and big velvet sofas along with the coffee maker that was kept on the side. The only thing that I wanted was the destruction of everything around me.

If the pain that I went through since my high school graduation night wasn't enough to turn me into this maddening man, then these twenty-four hours were definitely enough to bring me to my worst.

Or was it wrong because I recalled being madder than this last week and it turned things against me, but it wasn't my fault, I was scared because of the last encounter of...

Once I was done destroying Everything around, I looked around my cabin which was shattered completely but not more than me. Making my way through the discarded things, towards the small refrigerator which was the only thing that was left untouched here, I grabbed a bottle of whiskey and gulped it down in one go.

The liquor burnt my throat as much as my heart was burning at the present but at that moment nothing mattered to me. I wanted to drown myself in this alcohol to forget everything that I have gone through.

"Sir...," I heard someone's stammering voice coming from the front, but I didn't dare to look in the direction.

"Sir...

"Can't you see that I am in no position to talk. Get the hell out!!" I yelled throwing away the liquor bottle on the ground making it break into pieces.

I heard someone's gasp and raising my eyes from the broken bottle pieces, I saw Nathan standing behind Jenna. His fear was visible in his eyes but at that moment it wasn't making me feel anything.

Ignoring the occupants, I grabbed another bottle and began drinking without even bothering someone else. At that moment I forgot purposely that Nathan was my responsibility because I knew if I went near him, I would do something which I might regret later.

I kept on drinking for God knows how many hours and no one disturbed me after that one time. Maybe because everyone was aware of my anger.

Serena's teary eyes, Nathan's fearful eyes, and my own lifeless form kept on revolving in front of my eyes as I drank the last bottle sitting on the floor in between all the broken glass pieces.

Once it got over, I threw it away laying down lifeless on the cold floor. I didn't care whether I will get hurt because no physical pain can be as bigger than this mental and emotional pain.

Curling up in a ball, I closed my eyes as tears escaped from them. I didn't have any energy left in me but all that I had was tears. Because despite not being energetic, I wanted to cry.

Cry so much that there will be no emotion left inside me and that is what I did. I laid there and shed my tears but as I began to drift in unconsciousness, images of my past started to appear in full form making my jaw hardened.

Even in that state, my fist clenched in anger as I saw her face in front of me and before my body stopped feeling any emotion, I just remembered saying the things I always wanted to say.

I wish I never met you!

I wish I never started any relationship with you!

I wish I weren’t a playboy!

And I wish I never went ahead that night.

You ruined me!

You ruined my peace!

You took away my Everything.

You killed me alive!

I hate you, Carolina Rodriguez!!
