Tain Shur street
Tain Shur street
Luca's POV
I slammed the phone down, the icy grip of realization tightening around my chest. My heart hammered as the words rang in my ears... Noel and Viola, two names I’d been blind to until now, two names I never thought I’d hear together like this. My hands clenched into fists, the blood pounding in my ears. The calm façade I tried to maintain was slipping fast..
I was out of the dungeon now, it was no use trying to pretend to be alright.
I had just started to piece things together, but this? This was worse than anything I could have imagined. Viola... had she been playing me all along?
The room felt too small, the air too thick with the weight of everything I had ignored, everything I’d missed. How the hell had I been so blind? I thought I knew her, trusted her... but now everything I thought I knew about her was crashing down. What was she really hiding?
The fear of betrayal clawed at me, but more than that, it was the anger that burned. How had I let this slip past me?
"Boss, we've detected movement on Noel." Payson suddenly came to report, he looked concerned.
I jolted out of my thoughts, turning toward my men, already moving into action. They knew as well as I did that this was no coincidence.
"And why are you telling me this now?" I asked, my eyes wary. "Is he coming here? Is the bastard launching an attack here?"
Was that bastard finally going to man up and attack me head-on?
I had been expecting this move from him for a long time, but he always seemed to be playing safe.
Could he possibly have known already that I already knew about him and Viola?
Payson expression got even more confusing. "No, not but... His route, it seems very similar to yours." He answered.
I blinked in surprise.
"What?"
We haven't even started movement, how could be headed towards...
Then it hit me... Lisa.
The stupid maids house. The younger maid had given up where her friend lives a few minutes ago and we were just about to leave.
I looked up at Payson in shock... He nodded. "I think he's headed the same way."
Same way as... Why?
Before I could think of an answer, Marcus walked in and bowed. "Boss, I've gotten a lead on Viola. Her car was last spotted heading towards Tain Shur street, number eight."
Tain Shur street... Again?
"T...That's Lisa's house." Payson stuttered. I was quite shock myself, but everything began coming together.
"What did Viola go to do at Lisa's place?"
I thought about the answer for a while...
If they we're right with their explanation, Viola must be mad at the maid at the moment. And if all the information Payson brought to be about her us through...
Noel was there for support.
My expression turned cold, I picked up my phone from the table. "Let's move... Now." I said as I hurried outside with Marcus and Payson tailing me.
Viola and Noel... At the same bloody place, at the same time.
I only found out their connection a few hours ago, and now they were flaunting it in my face.
How had I been blind to them this entire time?!
The night air felt colder now, as if the world around me knew something was wrong. I couldn’t shake the unease creeping up my spine as we raced toward the cars. My mind kept replaying the same question.... Why was Viola at Lisa's house?
Had she been in on it the whole time? The thought made my chest tighten.
I had hurt Aria for her. Was it all part of her plan? They made me lock up the woman I love for weeks while pregnant with my child...
I was fuming!
The car engine roared to life, and we sped down the street, the wheels screeching as we turned a corner too fast.
But I didn't notice it, my thoughts were clouded with Viola and Noel and what they could possibly be doing...
The city blurred outside the windows, but in my mind, it was all too clear. This wasn’t just about a maid’s betrayal. This was about Viola. She had just thrown my entire world upside down, and I wasn’t about to let her get away with it.
Fuck the mafia code...
If Noel was there, I would end him today.
I didn't have time to torture him, he might get back up.
The best thing would be to shot him at every bone I could find before killing him... And I would do it.
“You still believe her, don’t you?” Marcus’s voice cut through the silence.
I could hear the hint of sarcasm in his tone.
He was blaming me for not believing Aria when she had tried to explain before.
I could even snap back at him... He was right.
I felt guilty myself.
“I don’t know what I believe anymore.”
I answered him but I knew it in my heart that I was wrong. I had always been wrong about Aria...
Maybe it was for the best that I was living her this early. She just kept getting hurt because of me.
The closer we got to Tain Shur Street, the more the knots in my stomach tightened.
A part of me didn't want to go there, I didn't want to confirm that all this while, for years, I had been stupid. That my worst enemy and Viola had been close and I knew nothing about it.
That I was played as a fool.
But the other part of me, the oasrt that wronged Aria needed to know the truth.
That way I could make it right again.
“We’re almost there, boss,” Payson said, his voice unreadable.
I nodded, barely hearing him over the sound of my own thoughts.
We stopped a block away, and I signaled the men to move in quietly. The street was too still, too perfect, and it made my skin crawl. I wasn’t sure if I was expecting a trap or if the whole situation was just more twisted than I imagined.
“Keep your heads down,” I ordered. “And don’t let anyone leave this place until we get answers.”
The door to the house was wide open, and I took a step forward, my boots crunching the gravel beneath me. My breath came in shallow bursts as we approached, the tension thickening the air around us.
Even if Noel wasn't here, I knew the truth already, but if he was...
'Nothing would stop me from taking his life today.'
I shoved my hand in the pocket of my shit bringing out the gun I had placed inside minutes after we left the dungeon.
... Noel had hurt me and my family too much to survive past today.
