CHAPTER 122: THE LONGEST DAY
Dominic held her close, his body still trembling from release, their breaths tangled in the thick warmth between them. He could feel her pulse racing against his chest, feel the tremor running through her as she tried to steady herself. Her skin glistened beneath the low light, slick with heat and sweat.
He stayed buried in her, unwilling to break the connection. Every muscle in his body ached with pleasure and exhaustion, but he refused to move. He bent his head, brushing a slow kiss against her shoulder, tasting the salt of her skin. She shuddered at the contact, a soft sound escaping her lips—half sigh, half whimper.
For a moment neither of them spoke. Only their breathing filled the air, slow and uneven, mingling in the quiet. Then Dominic’s low chuckle rumbled against her back.
“Damn,” he murmured to himself, voice rough and husky. “You’re going to be the death of me, Aria.”
He glanced down, his eyes tracing the curve of her body, the soft lines of her hips beneath him. Everything about her felt unreal—too perfect, too dangerous. He tightened his arms around her as if he could hold the moment in place.
Leaning closer, he pressed another kiss to her neck, the tip of his nose brushing along the sensitive skin there. His voice dropped to a whisper, teasing. “Is this how you planned it?”
Aria’s breath hitched. His words slid into her ear like heat, sparking along every nerve. She felt the tension return, that slow ache curling low inside her again. She bit her lip, trying to catch her breath, but the sound of his voice undid her completely.
“Dominic…” Her voice came out soft, trembling.
He smiled against her skin. “You’re so easy to read,” he whispered, tracing his fingers along her jaw until her head tilted back toward him. “Every little sound you make tells me everything.”
Her body reacted before her mind could keep up—the faintest arch of her spine, the sharp intake of air, the flutter of her lashes. Dominic felt it all, every tremor, every pulse. He began to move again, slow and deliberate, a languid rhythm that made her draw in a ragged breath.
She moaned quietly, her hand gripping the sheet. “Oh God… Dominic…”
He exhaled a laugh, the sound rough. “This is going to be a long day, baby girl,” he said, his words more like a promise than a warning. “I’m going to take you every way I’ve imagined. You’ve been tempting the daylight out of me for too long.”
In the next few minutes, her answer came in broken gasps, fragments of sound between breaths. “Oh God… oh yes… please…”
The heat between them built again, spreading through the room like fire. The bed creaked softly beneath their rhythm, the air thick with the scent of sweat and skin.
He looked down at her, his eyes dark and hungry, and brought his hand sharply across her hip. The sound cracked through the quiet—sharp, commanding. She jolted, her breath catching, a flush blooming across her cheeks.
“Is this how you wanted it?” he asked, his tone low and challenging.
Her answer was only a cry, a sound that seemed to tremble straight through him.
They were in his quarters now, the door locked, the outside world forgotten. The room glowed with the dim light of early afternoon filtering through the blinds, casting long stripes of gold across tangled sheets. Every surface smelled faintly of sweat, salt, and desire.
Dominic moved with renewed intensity, each motion sure and powerful. His skin was slick, his breath harsh in the charged air. “This is how you love it, isn’t it?” he said through gritted teeth, driving forward, chasing that line between control and surrender.
Aria couldn’t answer. Her voice was gone, stolen by the rhythm of what he was doing to her. All she could manage were small, shattered sounds—pleas, breaths, the half-formed shape of his name.
He leaned over her, pressing his mouth to her ear. “Tell me,” he growled softly. “Tell me what you want.”
She shook her head, the motion helpless. “I can’t,” she whispered. “I don’t know how.”
He smiled against her skin, his voice turning almost tender. “Then let me teach you.”
His pace shifted, deepened; every movement deliberate, patient, cruel in its precision. The room filled again with the rhythm of bodies and breath. It was relentless, consuming, beautiful.
“Oh yes—please—Dominic,” she cried, her voice climbing.
He groaned in answer, his own restraint breaking apart. He reached beneath her arms, drawing her up against him until she was half-turned, his chest pressed to her back. His hands found her breasts, cupping, squeezing, fingers tracing rough circles over sensitive skin.
The sound that tore from her throat was wild. Her fingers twisted in the sheets as she tried to brace herself, but he didn’t stop. His movements became fierce again, an unbroken rhythm that left her gasping with every breath.
The slap of skin against skin echoed in the room, each impact sharp as a heartbeat. The heat, the smell, the raw sound of it filled the air like a storm.
Aria’s body trembled violently, caught somewhere between exhaustion and another mounting wave. The pressure in her chest built until she could barely breathe. Every muscle in her body ached, but she didn’t want him to stop.
“Harder,” she whispered, her voice cracking. “Don’t stop.”
Her words lit something in him—dark, urgent. Dominic’s jaw tightened as he obeyed, his body moving with a new kind of desperation. He caught her by the waist, drawing her back against him, his rhythm fierce and merciless.
The bed groaned beneath their weight; the air turned heavy with heat. Aria’s cries became louder, scattering into fragments. Her fingers clawed at the pillow, searching for something to hold.
It was too much. The pleasure was dizzying, endless, a tide that dragged her under. She felt herself slipping away from reason, from everything that tied her to the ground. All that existed was him—his breath, his voice, the fire he fed in her until she burned.
Dominic’s control frayed at the edges. He could feel it in the way his muscles strained, in the pounding of his heartbeat against her spine. The sound of her voice—the pleading, the surrender—drove him past sense.
He caught her again, lifting her slightly, pressing his mouth to the curve of her shoulder. “You don’t know what you do to me,” he breathed. “I try to fight it, but you make it impossible.”
She turned her head enough that their faces brushed, their breath mingling. “Then don’t fight it,” she whispered.
That was all it took. The last of his restraint broke apart.
He moved faster, deeper, the rhythm violent in its need. The sounds they made filled the small space—their ragged breathing, the sharp slap of movement and skin, the creak of the mattress.
Aria’s world dissolved again, her vision scattering into light. Her body convulsed with another wave, stronger than the last, leaving her trembling uncontrollably. Tears welled at the corners of her eyes and spilled down her cheeks, silent, glittering.
Dominic saw them, felt her shudder, and his own breath faltered. “You’re driving me insane,” he muttered, half to himself, half to her.
He drew her back, still holding her against him, one arm tight around her waist, the other sliding beneath to cup her chest. He moved until they were pressed together completely, her back slick against his torso.
Her voice broke on his name, a whisper of sound that melted into a moan.
He groaned in response, every nerve alive, every thought stripped down to instinct. “Look at you,” he said between breaths. “You have no idea what you’re doing to me.”
He shifted his weight, finding a new rhythm that pushed her further, the tension between them drawn tight as wire. The room seemed to pulse with it.
Aria’s body responded to every motion; she was past the point of thought. All she could do was move with him, lost in the rhythm, in the heat, in the way he filled the world around her.
The sound of his breath grew louder, rougher, each exhale a struggle. His grip on her waist tightened until she could feel the tremor in his arms.
“Aria—” Her name came out as a growl, his voice shaking.
She could sense it, the storm building again, the shiver that ran through him before everything broke.
Her fingers dug into the sheets as her body gave in one final time, the rush consuming her completely. It was too much—pleasure tipping over into pain, sweetness dissolving into something darker.
