Chapter 9

“Well, tell me how life is going on, Reign. Except your constant playboy conquests, which runs in the family blood.” Lucifer asks Reign, while I see him release a low chuckle. The guy enjoys tormenting us.

“Uh, well nothing much in particular, Luc. Just some boy trouble.” He replies, intently gazing at Lucifer whose eyes shoot up with surprise.

“Boy trouble? Care to explain?” Luc pushes his chair a bit forward, as I glare at Reign. What does he think he’s playing at? I won’t be another of his potential trophies, he keeps beside his bed. Plus, I'm his brother.

“There’s this guy, who I really like. Yet, he wouldn’t just give in. He sticks with his morals.” Reign continues, as if I weren’t there and I didn’t know who he was talking about. This guy has some nerve.

“You like someone, yet he rejects you? Who even rejects Reign Williams?” Luc archs an eyebrow at us both.

“Clearly someone who knows that all he treats people is like someone treats their worthless trophies, before discarding them, of course.” I snort, getting up hastily from the chair. Luc throws at alarmed glance at this eerie behaviour.

“Says the person who kisses a girl he barely knows, who spilled coffee on his t-shirt not almost about 4 hours ago.” Reign hisses, as he stares at me. What? Did he just say what I heard? How dare he speak of me like that?

“Woah now, guys. Lay it off. Cool down.” Luc interferes flashing Reign a miserable smile because he knows that hell would break free if I begin acting on my anger.

With one last angry glare at Reign, I storm out of the cafeteria leaving my half eaten sandwich on the table. Let the devil have the better of it. I won’t die if I starve today.

Two more classes pass by without much messy events and now, I was having football practice. I pick up my bag, as I head over to the field. Once I reach the spot, my team had already gathered and had their jerseys on. Guess I'm the one late. Flopping the bag down somewhere near the basketball court, I rummage out my black jersey. I peel the t-shirt off my chest, as Luc throws me a bottle of water. I force a grateful smile, as I pour the cool liquid on my naked front.

This action leads to reaction. Some people have even snapped a few pictures while my football team chuckles at the helpless students. Shaking my head, I pull the jersey over my body, flexing my muscles. When suddenly a thought crosses my mind.

“Luc, where exactly is Colin?” I ask him frankly surprised that he wasn’t present in the team for practice. Where'd the guy go?

“I have no idea, Lev. He should’ve been here by now. Plus, Tracy's murderer is still on the loose, I don’t know what to think.” Luc massages his forehead looking as tensed as I myself am.

“Let me go to the bathroom stalls. You check the school campus. Hopefully, the murderer even if present at school, won’t do anything infront of all these people. Trust me, Luc, we'll find him and punish him.” I mutter in a low tone, as I give him a reassuring squeeze. I know that he’s tensed. I can feel it.

We smile at eachother, as we part ways. I stride towards the bathroom stalls and Luc begins to reach the school campus, with his absurdly long steps. The bathroom stalls are quite dark, and there is an aura of mystery lurking around. The atmosphere surely does seem uncanny. A sudden sound of something clashing against the metal door startles me. The noise is surely coming from one of the accommodating stalls. But, which one is it?

Tiptoeing near the many stalls which seem to be gawking at me, a flashing inscription of the wall catches my eye. The dark red lipstick taints the pastel White Walls of the corridor leading to the stalls. My eyes bulge out while I process those words.

“I know what you did on 26th December 2016. Tick tock, tick tock...” The haunting letters stare back at me, with such intensity that drives me into a frenzy.

How is this possible? Who knows? That can’t be! Only me, Luc, George and Max were present near the beach during the awful night. Who can it be?!
