Chapter 43- Paying For Her Sins
Chapter 43- Paying For Her Sins
ARIA’S POV
My heart thundered in my chest as I stepped out of the closet, the pill bottle still burning in my memory.
Aphrodisiacs. Not sleeping pills. My plan had crumbled, and now I was teetering on the edge of something I couldn’t control. The air felt too thick, too heavy, like it was pressing down on me as I forced my legs to move back into the room. My hands trembled, and my mind screamed at me to run, to fix this, but there was no fixing it now.
Alessandro was still there, but he wasn’t the same. His leather jacket was gone, tossed carelessly on the floor, and he was standing now, his broad shoulders heaving with every breath. Sweat glistened on his forehead, trailing down his temple, catching the dim light of the room. His dark hair was mussed, like he’d been running his hands through it, and his chest rose and fell too fast, too hard. He looked… undone. Dangerous. Like a predator barely holding itself back.
His eyes snapped to mine, and I froze. Those eyes—usually cold, sharp, calculating—were dark now, almost black, burning with something raw and hungry. A shiver ran down my spine, my skin prickling under the weight of his stare. I couldn’t move, couldn’t breathe. The room felt smaller, the walls closing in as the tension between us crackled like a live wire.
“Alessandro,” I whispered, my voice barely audible, trembling with a mix of fear and something else—something I didn’t want to name. I opened my mouth to say more, to cover my tracks, to keep him from suspecting what I’d done, but the words stuck in my throat. What could I say? I couldn’t tell him the truth. I couldn’t sell myself out.
He swallowed hard, his throat bobbing, his brows furrowing as he dragged a hand through his hair. “You,” he said, his voice low, rough, like gravel. It wasn’t a question. It was an accusation.
My heart stopped. “What are you talking about?” I managed, my voice shaking as I took a step back. My back hit the wall, the cold plaster grounding me for a split second before he moved. One step, then another, closing the distance between us. His presence was overwhelming, all heat and muscle and barely restrained energy. He loomed over me, one hand planting on the wall beside my head, caging me in. His scent—leather, whiskey, and something darker, something distinctly him—filled my lungs, making my head spin.
“What did you do?” he whispered, his voice dangerous, his breath hot against my cheek. His eyes bored into mine, searching, demanding answers I couldn’t give.
I shook my head, my lips parting to deny it, to play dumb. “You didn’t drink much,” I said, my voice barely steady. “Why are you… drunk?” It was a weak lie, and I knew it the second it left my mouth. Drunk? He wasn’t drunk. He was something else entirely, and it was my fault.
His jaw tightened, his eyes narrowing. “Drunk?” he repeated, the word dripping with disbelief, with heat. “This is your fault.” His voice was a low growl now, and before I could process it, he grabbed my hand, his grip firm but not painful. He pulled it down, pressing my palm against the front of his black pants, right over the hard, unmistakable bulge straining against the fabric.
I gasped, my body jerking as a shock of heat shot through me. My fingers trembled against him, feeling the heat, the size of him, and my knees went weak. I should’ve pulled away, should’ve pushed him off, but my body betrayed me. A shiver ran through me, my skin burning where he touched me, my pulse racing so fast I could barely think.
“You did this,” he said, his voice rough, almost accusing, but there was something else there—need, raw and unfiltered. His blue eyes locked onto my brown ones, and the air between us thickened, heavy with tension, with want. I couldn’t look away, couldn’t move. He was so close, his body radiating heat, his breath ragged.
Before I could say anything, his lips crashed into mine, fast and merciless. The kiss was fire, all heat and hunger, his mouth claiming mine like he’d been starving for it. I gasped against him, my hands instinctively grabbing his shoulders, but I didn’t push him away. I couldn’t. He was too much—too intense, too consuming. His tongue swept into my mouth, tasting of whiskey and desperation, and my body responded before my mind could catch up.
I tried to pull back, just for a second, just to breathe, but his hand slid to the back of my neck, holding me in place. His lips were relentless, bruising, and I felt myself melt into him, my resistance crumbling. He was handsome—God, he was handsome, all sharp jaw and piercing eyes—and I’d be lying if I said I didn't like this. This was my mistake, my mess, and yet I didn’t want to stop.
His hips pressed into mine, grinding the hard length of him against me, and I moaned, the sound swallowed by his mouth. My hands slid up, wrapping around his neck, pulling him closer, needing more. I was wet, embarrassingly so, my body aching for him despite the chaos in my mind.
This wasn’t the plan. I was supposed to knock him out, to slip away, to chase Nikolai. But now? Now I was drowning in Alessandro, in the heat of his body, the roughness of his kiss, the way he made my blood sing.
He lifted me effortlessly, his hands gripping my thighs as I wrapped my legs around his waist. His cock pressed against me, hard and insistent, and I moaned again, louder this time, my head falling back as he kissed down my neck, his teeth grazing my skin. The sensation sent sparks through me, my body arching into him, craving more.
He ground against me, hard, deliberate, and for a moment, his lips stilled. He pulled back, just enough to look at me, his eyes wild but flickering with something else—control, maybe, or guilt. Like he was trying to pull himself back from the edge. “Aria,” he rasped, his voice strained, like he was fighting himself.
I didn’t let him. I tightened my legs around him, pulling him back, my hands fisting in his hair. “Don’t,” I whispered, my voice desperate. I didn’t care that this wasn’t the plan. I didn’t care that I was supposed to hate him, that he was my obstacle. Right now, he was a man, and I wanted him. I wanted this.
His eyes darkened, and then he was kissing me again, harder, deeper, like he’d made his choice. He moved, carrying me toward the bed, his lips never leaving mine. My back hit the mattress, and he was over me, his weight pressing me down, grounding me in the storm of my own desire. He broke the kiss just long enough to rip his shirt over his head, tossing it aside, and my breath caught.
His chest was a map of muscle, taut and defined. His skin was flushed, his breathing ragged, and the sight of him—raw, powerful, undone—sent a fresh wave of heat through me.
My hands reached for him, tracing the hard lines of his abs, and he groaned, low and guttural, his eyes burning into mine.
“Aria,” he said again, my name a warning, a plea. But I didn’t care. I pulled him down, my lips crashing into his.
