Chapter 87 - Hot baths and confessions

The ride home felt like the longest hour of my life. Sin's fingers rested on my thigh, gently squeezing, while my bead rested on his arm. My eyes were closed, and it was comfortable, safe, but I would give anything to be in a hot tub with him, and then slip under the sheets, with his arms wrapped around me, his scent filling me.

I turned to him, my eyes taking him in. He was driving with one hand, his eyes thin as he focused on the road ahead of us.

"Can I ask you something?"

He nodded, turning to me briefly. "What is it?"

I bit down on my lips, turning away slightly so I would be able to muster the courage I needed to talk to him.

"Well... I was wondering. The bath you were talking about..."

He hummed an encouragement, and I closed my eyes, sighing a little.

"Well, I was wondering if it was for one person."

His brows furrowed, and as if the entire universe was conspiring against me, the traffic lights turned red, and he stopped, turning to me fully.

"What do you mean?"

I closed my eyes as I moved away, my chest slightly heaving. His eyes were calm, and to be honest, I was completely envious of him. How he could remain calm in my presence and not bend like I was doing.

"Well, I... I was... I was just..."

"Thinking of taking a bath with me?"

I felt my heart jump, and I turned away, my hand resting on my chest like that would do anything to my little gangster heart.

"I..."

"If that's what you want, princess."

I felt a lump rise in my throat as he turned away, then brought me to lean on his arm again. I wrapped my hands around his arm, burying my face in the large mass. This was a very funny feeling, but I absolutely loved it.

Once the imposing circular building of Sin's mansion came into sight in full glory, complete with its waterfalls, my heart did an instant somersault. I bit down on my lips, hardly registering the number of soldiers that were now stationed around the house.

"We are here," Sin said before turning to me.

I nodded, moving away as he turned off the ignition.

"Wait here."

I sat there, completely obedient, as he walked out of the car. I could see him as he adjusted his shirt, then walked around the car, his hands gently rolling up his sleeves one after the other. I felt my breath catch as he finally came around, and the veins in his arms popped in front of me, straining against his skin, pushing the boundaries of my self-control.

I tore my gaze away and looked up to him, then swallowed hard, my chest heaving.

"Stay still," he said before he leaned to me, his face coming to the right side of mine, snatching whatever breath I had remaining.

My heart was pounding hard, but my body, eternally submissive to him, kept the position he had asked me to, staying completely still, almost as if the lack of air had sent me to an early grave.

His fingers reached under my knees, and then my back, and he pulled me into him, my face immediately burying in his chest, my fingers wrapping around the open buttons of his shirt.

I looked up, and he was looking down at me, his eyes dark and swirling with intensity. I blinked rapidly as I forced myself to fear my gaze off him, my heart thumping hard.

'I will make you faithful.'

I could hear it over and over again in my mind, making me even more restless than I already was. His promise of steam and passion obviously beat the cool morning breeze.

Without a word, he turned away, leaving a guard to shut the car door and take it away. I leaned into him as we got to the main entrance, and it was opened up for us.

I turned, and the first person I saw was Larissa. The butler was standing beside her, his hands clasped in front of him, his lips turned down as he looked distressed.

"Sir," the butler said as Sin walked in, his eyes immediately freezing over.

Larissa stood up, a smile spreading her lips. Angel was eating beside her, and she immediately abandoned the food and ran down to Sin, wrapping her little arms around his leg.

"Sin. I was waiting for you."

I turned to Sin, then started to move, so I would walk on my own two feet. He tightened his grip around me, pressing me towards his chest hard enough to pass the message to me that he wasn't letting me go anytime soon.

"Sin," I said.

He didn't reply, but he wasn't saying anything to anyone at all. I turned to Larissa, and her jaws were clenched, her eyes settled on me.

"Angel," Sin finally said. "I will take my wife upstairs. Wait for me here, okay?"

She nodded obediently, and even though I couldn't see her expression in order to gauge her emotions, I wished I could.

Sin started to walk past Larissa towards the massive staircase, his fingers tight around me.

"Sin," she said suddenly, holding his arm in place, her lips parting.

He stopped walking, then turned to her, his eyes the coldest yet. "Do we have unfinished business?"

She bit down on her lips. "Yes. Yes, I believe so."

I swallowed hard, my fingers tightening around Sin's shirt more. I don't know if it was a fear of abandonment, or it was just the things I felt for Sin. The violent, needy love I felt for him.

"Go on," he said, his voice low. "I have somewhere else I have to be."

"Last night, I was... I was flustered, but I wanted to know if you were okay."

"I am."

She nodded. "Well. I am glad. I was really worried."

He didn't reply, and she moved closer, tightening her fingers around his arm enough for me to feel it.

"Just know I will continue to protect you. Just like last night."

I felt a lump rise in my throat as she let her eyes meet mine. Once again, she had something else on me. Something that I didn't have. Why did I have to be at that damned hospital? Why did I miss the chance to protect him? To show him that I would do as much... or even more?

I started to say something before Sin spoke up, causing me to stop.

"Just like my bodyguards will. For the money I pay them monthly."

"Sin."

"If you don't mind, I promised my wife a hot bath."

He yanked his arm away, then walked away, his steps brisk as he walked to the staircase.

"I love you, Sin! I don't care how mean you are to me, but..."

I leaned up to him, my fingers gently cupping his face. He turned to me, his lips parting, his eyes soft.

"I love you."

***

SIN'S POV.

"I love you."

I couldn't hear anything else. I love you. She said it again. If the first had been an ambitious dream, I hoped to heaven this one wasn't.

I gave a small smile, then continued on my path upstairs, regardless of whatever was down there. I didn't belong there. At least, not anymore.
