Chapter 71 Seventy one
Chapter 71 Seventy one
He watched me and I knew he was in my mind, searching to see if I had made any plans about how and when I would escape, but he would find none. Not because I hid those thoughts from him, but because I hadn't had the chance to form any. I didn’t even know where to start a plan of escape, I wasn’t good with strategy, it wasn’t a strong point of mine. Seemingly satisfied that I would not yet betray him, Silas leant back slightly, though his gaze never left my face.
I fidgeted slightly under the strength that he possessed over me, but I remained silent, I didn’t know what to say to him. I wasn’t good at small talk. Or any talk for that matter. Not when I was exhausted. It would be beneficial for me to keep my mouth shut unless I was required not to.
His eyes travelled down my body, as though taking in every inch of my frame, his gaze pausing of the burnt flesh before moving to my twisted arm. “Is your arm healing?” He asked slowly, stretching out each word; his mind blocked off from me.
I didn't want to answer, the fact that he had suddenly blocked me from his mind terrifying, but I also knew that if I didn’t answer, he would become more enraged.
With a deep breath, I began to answer, my voice low and docile. “Yes, but I think I have reached a limit of what my body is capable of, it might be a while before I can use it again.” I whispered honestly, knowing that he would be able to tell if I lied.
“I know of a way to speed up the healing process.” He announced with a smile, making me instantly nervous.
I only knew of one way that a vampire could increase a witches healing, and the was the same thing they did to mortals to keep them alive to be drained of blood another day. It was something I was certain that I didn’t want.
“You don't have to do that master, I will heal, my abilities will help me. I just need to rest.” I said in a low voice, attempting to be diplomatic while expressing I didn't want what he offered.
“I want you to be at full strength, you said yourself that you don’t know how long it would take for your abilities to heal you and frankly I don’t have the patience or time to allow it.” He said in a surprisingly soft voice, his powerful form looming over me slightly.
“Will it hurt?” I asked, my voice barely a whisper, I didn’t want this, but I was too afraid of what will happen should I object.
Silas shrugged, “Nothing comes without some pain, but I will try to make you … comfortable.”
I nodded nervously, attempting to seem like a good slave whilst my mind screamed at me to run, to escape him before he attacked me again; knowing that I wouldn’t get far.
Another smile played across the Prince’s lips; his voice stronger when he spoke, more commanding. “Come here.”
I hesitated for only a moment longer before I awkwardly shuffled towards the edge of the bed where he sat, my heart rate increasing as it felt like it would rip from my chest at any moment. He silently pulled me onto his knee, positioning me close to him chest as he used one of his arms to hold me there in case, I changed my mind, ensuring that it wasn’t an option. The carefully moved my hair away from my face and exposed my neck, my breathing increasing to panicked rasps. I’d never been bitten by a vampire before, despite being controlled by them my whole life, bile rising in my throat.
He chuckled lightly as he grasped the front of my neck, turning it gently so that he could get to the artery, I tried to push into his mind in my panic; to see if he intended of killing me, not healing. But I was met with a low grow, his hand tightening around the front of my neck, warning me that I didn’t not have permission to enter his mind.
I tried to relax, showing him that I would obey despite my fear, but my body wouldn’t allow it, remaining tense as it trembled in his grasp. Once he was satisfied that I would do as he commanded, he slowly lowered his head, his icy lips pressing against my flesh as he tortured me, proving to me that I had no power. That I was weak and under his mercy. I clenched my eyes shut to avoid the tears that threatened them, his fangs puncturing the skin of my next in the next second, a pained cry slipping through my tight jaw, the feeling of sharpened nails ripping into me draining what little energy I had, my head lolling to the side.
It felt as though my very essence was being ripped from my body as he began the task of taking enough blood from me so that he could replace it with his own, aiding me in the healing process. The tears I fought so hard to hold back now falling freely from my eyes, the world become too far from my reach. How much was he going to take? Did he need to rid me of this much blood? I knew the answer was no, but what could I do? If he killed me now, I could do nothing but accept my fate.
He pulled back with a gasp, my body slumping weakly against his. “Fraulein, you taste divine.” He uttered before biting his wrist and placing it against my mouth.
I chocked on the Prince’s blood as it slipped down my throat, burning its way down, the thick substance worse than anything I had ever had. It tasted like death. Once he was satisfied that I had taken enough he pulled his wrist away, allowing me to take a breath before placing me back onto the mattress.
Sweat formed along my forehead as his blood burned me from the inside, the pain like nothing I had ever felt before. Was it supposed to feel like this? I wondered, my eyes heavy, too heavy to keep open, and within seconds I slipped into the darkness of much needed sleep.
