Chapter 128

Chapter 129

Early the next morning, I went to Celestial University.

Standing at the entrance of the Registrar's Office, I took a deep breath, pushed open the door, and walked in to process my withdrawal.

Just as I finished the withdrawal procedures and came down the stairs, I ran into Liliana.

She was holding several books and hurried toward me, her face full of surprise.

"Sophia? What are you doing here? Coming to class?"

"I would like to process my withdrawal from school." I smiled at her.

Liliana was shocked: "Why are you suddenly withdrawing? What happened?"

"A lot has happened. I'll tell you about it later."

"Tell me now. I don't have class for a while. Let's find a coffee shop and sit down to talk." Liliana pulled me to a coffee shop.

"Why are you really withdrawing?" After ordering coffee, Liliana handed me the menu and asked.

I smiled: "I came to school to find someone. Now that I've found them, there's no need to stay anymore."

I took the menu from her and glanced at it: "I can't drink any of these, so I won't order anything. No point wasting money."

"Didn't you use to love coconut lattes? I never saw you have any problems with them." Liliana seemed puzzled. "Why can't you drink them suddenly?"

I gently placed my hand on my stomach: "Because I'm pregnant, so I can't have anything with caffeine now. I'm worried it might be bad for the baby."

"What!" Liliana shouted in shock, standing up. "You said you're pregnant!"

"Why are you shouting? You scared me to death!" someone scolded Liliana. She apologized to that person and sat down.

She lowered her voice: "Whose child is it?"

She realized and tapped her own head: "Look at me asking such silly questions. The baby in your belly is, of course, James's."

"Does James know about this?"

I shook my head.

"You're not planning to tell him?"

I shook my head again.

Liliana nodded: "That's probably for the best."

"But I'm worried it'll be really hard for you to raise a child alone." She gently placed her hand on mine. "Sophia, you need to think this through."

"Don't worry, I'll definitely take good care of myself. I'm planning to go abroad in a while." I put my other hand on top, gently patting the back of her hand. "Once Grandma's health improves a bit more, I'll leave."

Liliana looked at my face, her brows furrowing: "Raising a child alone is already hard enough, and going to a foreign country where you don't know anyone—I'm really worried about you."

"Amelia is pregnant too."

"What, she's pregnant... wait, how could she be pregnant?" Liliana's eyes widened. "That's impossible. She, I... this..."

"Amelia's baby is James's."

Liliana: "What!"

"Can you people let others drink their coffee in peace or not? If you're not drinking, get out and stop bothering everyone."

Liliana got scolded again and apologized to that person once more.

"Wait, how did James end up having a baby with Amelia? This..." She looked at me with a trace of pity. "No wonder you're not telling him you're pregnant and going abroad."

I hesitated, then continued: "James and I are planning to divorce."

"What?" Liliana's voice shot up again instantly, but fortunately, she covered her mouth, muffling part of the sound.

She lowered her voice: "Is he crazy? Why would he divorce you? Is it because of Amelia?"

"Scumbag! Homewrecker! Neither of them is any good!" Liliana cursed, her face flushing red.

"That bitch Amelia! Is James blind? He has such a wonderful wife and doesn't want her, but goes after Amelia!"

"Liliana, stop." I tugged at her arm. "Things are already like this. Saying more won't help."

"How can I not say anything?" Liliana was so angry that her chest was heaving. "I've never liked Amelia. She always acts so fragile and innocent, as if the whole world owes her something."

"And she uses people to do bad things for her. So evil and disgusting! I'm going to teach them a lesson right now and help you get revenge!"

"Don't go." I stopped her. "It won't help. Besides, I've already decided to leave this place. I don't want to get tangled up with them anymore."

Liliana looked at me and slowly calmed down. She sighed: "Sophia, which country are you planning to go to? Do you have any other plans?"

"I don't have any plans yet. Grandma just woke up, and I want to spend more time with her. Plus, isn't Christmas coming up? No matter what, I should at least get through Christmas."

Liliana was silent for a moment, then nodded: "I understand. When you go abroad, make sure to take good care of yourself and the baby. If anything comes up, you must tell me. I'll always be your best friend."

"Okay." My eyes welled up, and I couldn't help but hug her. "Thank you, Liliana."

"Why are you being so formal with me?" Liliana patted my back. "Oh, before you leave, let's go out and have fun once, okay? Just the two of us, like before."

I nodded with a smile: "Okay, where should we go?"

Liliana was happy: "Oh, right, I heard there's a church that's really good for making wishes. Let's go make wishes too—wish for your baby to be healthy and for your life to go smoothly from now on."

"And wish for that scumbag and homewrecker to die a horrible death!"

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry: "James is still your brother. Isn't it bad to curse him like that?"

"So what if he's my brother? Does being my brother mean he can be a scumbag? Just because he's a scumbag means I can't curse him? I'm going to curse him anyway, that damn scumbag. If he weren't my brother, I would've rushed up to him and slapped him a hundred times. I'd beat him so bad his own grandmother wouldn't recognize him." Liliana was indignant.

"You seem even angrier than I, and I'm the one this happened to."

"If you're not angry, can't I be angry for you?"

I nodded repeatedly: "Yes, of course you can."

"But Sophia, have you really never suspected that the baby in Amelia's belly isn't James's? No matter how confused James might be, he wouldn't mess around like that. I still trust him on this point. Could there be some misunderstanding? Could Amelia have used some trick to make you misunderstand?"

The more Liliana talked, the more she felt her theory was correct: "Do you need me to help investigate and clear up the misunderstanding?"

I smiled softly: "Whether it's a misunderstanding doesn't matter anymore. Liliana, even if the baby in Amelia's belly isn't James's, I still won't stay. Between Amelia and me, he chose Amelia. If I stayed, it would just be embarrassing myself."

"I might as well take my child abroad where it's peaceful." I lowered my head and gently stroked my flat stomach, my eyes tender.

Liliana smiled and said, "Sophia, whatever decision you make, I support you."
