Chapter 50 — Fine Now

Robert POV:

Two Weeks Later…

I was finally cured. My new doctor was male, so I didn’t face any problems in the last few days. I was so glad that I was free now.

As I went out of the hospital, I thought of Hailey. Three days. It has been three days since I last saw her. Of course, I didn’t meet her from that day, but I did see her from out of her ward.

The last time I visited her, she was still so scared. Scared of me.

I closed my eyes. It hurts to remember that moment, no matter how much time has passed. But now that I can be with her, I have to make her believe that I am not John. And I have to end this John too so that we can finally have a happy life.

I am so done with all these turns. I wanna live happily with her now.

I called Alex to let him know about it and even if he was reluctant, he was kinda sure that Hailey’s gonna believe me and trust me.

So, I didn’t hesitate anymore and went to her hospital.

When I reached there, the nurse looked at me sadly. Lately, she has been concerned with Hailey and she knows exactly that nothing was my fault. 

“I am gonna meet her,” I told her, and she was a little shocked but nodded. “Good luck.”

I smiled and stood outside her ward. I took a deep breath and entered her ward.

“Hailey.”

She looked at me and her face paled again. “Y-You?”

I sighed. I went to her slowly and she took a few steps before on the bed. “Look, Hailey. I am not gonna hurt you. trust me.”

She looked at me and furrowed her eyebrows. I took out a few pictures we took and handed them to her. “See. We have always been happy.”

She looked at them and then at me.

“Then…then…that day…?”

“It wasn’t me. Trust me.” I repeated and went to her. Her breathing rasped for a minute, but I took her hand softly. She suddenly didn’t flinch, and I smiled.

“We are married, and I am your husband. Do you remember that?”

She thought for a moment and nodded hesitantly.

“I know it is really difficult to believe, but he is my twin. Do you believe me?”

“Your twin?” She looked at me.

“Yes.”

She looked down and nodded. “Maybe…”

“Hailey. I love you. I will never hurt you.”

She looked at me and smiled a little. “Maybe you are right.”

I smiled brightly. I knew she would believe me!

“But where were you…all this while? You never…came again…?”

I smiled sadly. “I was here, a few times. Otherwise, there was other stuff. But…I missed you every second.”

She nodded. “I missed someone who cares about me, too.”

I smiled and took the initiative to hug her. She hugged me back a little and I smiled. “I ain’t going anywhere. I am gonna stay by your side now.”

She smiled widely. “That’s great.”

Cassie POV:

The last weeks have been really good. I am with Matt, and it feels like he has changed. But Alex says that he took his Mafia people and so I should be quite cautious and well, I am.

After the classes, I returned home. 

“Now tell me, what’s wrong with you and Summer?” I finally asked. In the last few days, I have not seen them talking even once. I got a hold of his phone a few times and checked the call log, but there was no log. What could be the reason?

“Nothing.” he shrugged and sat down on the couch. “How was your day?”

“Tell me, Alex.”

“uh well, it is not of your…um, interest?”

“It is of my interest and that’s why I am here.”

“Well, she is…pregnant.”

“She is…WHAT?”

“Pregnant.”

“No, I heard that. I mean…then why the hell are you here? Shouldn’t you be there taking care of her?”

“No, uh…I mean, yeah but…”

“What, Alex?” I asked again.

He sighed. “I don’t know if it is my child. She doesn’t know if it is my child!” 

I gasped. What?

“What?”

“Yeah…uh, I don’t know what to do so I just arranged a caretaker for her.”

“So, what are you gonna do anyway? Later on?”

“Um, after a month or so, she will take a DNA test to figure out who the father is.”

“And…And if it isn’t you…?”

He looked at me and his eyes became cold. “I’ll divorce.”

I gasped a little but got a hold of myself. I can’t even imagine losing Summer. Even though she isn’t here, I’ve known her for a long time, and I can’t lose her. 

And at the same time, I can’t imagine her cheating on Alex. She loved him so much.

“Hm…” I replied.

He sighed. “Anyway, it doesn't matter. How are you?”

“Good.”

We talked for a few more minutes and I was now restless. I want this time to pass and I wanna make sure that my brother has his love life stable.
