CHAPTER 16: "I can't love anyone"

I heard footsteps from outside, nobody needed to tell me that it was Melvin, because I could hear his voice, maybe he was talking to some of his warriors. I hurried, cleaned the tears left in my eyes,I took out one of the stories that was on the table, laid down on the cushion and began reading. I know he doesn't love me or want me and I know I feel bad, but I don't have to let him know, I need to show him that I can live up to my expectations.

The door opened and he came inside, I only used the side of my eyes to watch his movement. If it was before I would greet him and try to help him with his clothes which he would refuse me doing, but I would not do it anymore.

I felt his eyes on me, but I kept still and pretended to be engrossed in the book that I was reading

"Seems you are now close with Elvis" it wasn't a question but a statement he was throwing at me, I just hummed to him as an answer

"You really want to learn how to use the sword?" He asked me, I was a little confused, while does he want to Know now

"That's between me and myself, I know you just asking for just a sake" I told him, Still looking at the book I was reading

"You didn't come to visit Diana, she was badly hurt by me" he said with a very almost voice while looking at me. He would really be surprised at my actions towards him, I don't want to be the timid and fragile Audrey again.

"Visit Diana!!" I scoffed

"Why would I? You were the one who got her hurt and not me, why should I then visit her?" I asked him, still not looking at him

"Are you really going to follow Kiara's foot step and Hate Diana, she isn't as bad as you think" he told me

"She has been my friend since we were little and she isn't going to hurt anyone" He thinks he Knows her very much to talk on her behalf. She is the caption of a green snake under green grass, a camelon.

"Only thinking of how you support her instead of your sister who grew up with you makes me hate her More" I didn't know were I got the courage to talk to Melvin like this, He was an alpha, a prince, a warrior, he would have beaten me up if he wants but he didn't do it.

"Two days' time is the pack victory celebration, are you in your family?" He asked, this Time I closed the book and stood up, I folded my arms and walked to him

"What are you doing?" He asked and I smirked, does he think I would do something illegal to him? He is my husband and I don't think it is illegal of me to do it.

"Why? Why do you suddenly care?, You don't care about me or my family, why now?, I think you should go bring the whole of Diana's family, or you can he beer family because she has none" I said with no expression

"Why are you behaving like this Audrey! Why are you jealous?" He asked in a yelling tone

"Why would I be jealous of someone who rejected me as his mate, Alpha Melvin, even if am an Omega, I have the right to talk freely to an Alpha, you could do anything you want to me, I don't care,I have endured this pain more than enough already, so I would feel nothing"

"You don't care,so leave my family out of it" I told him

"I care!!! I care in every way!! I care about you and everyone, but I can't love anyone, because I'm…." He held what he was about to say back. He looked at me before leaving the room

"Why was he angry? I should be the one angry and not him, he just flirted with another woman minutes ago, and he didn't say anything" I stopped talking, and tried to remember his words

"I can't love anyone, because I'm…"

"What does he mean by he can't love anyone?Now I needed to see Kiara" I ran out of our chamber and headed toward that of Kiara. When I bumped into someone, I hurriedly looked up and it was Elvis.

"Be careful!!" He told me

"Where are you rushing to?" He asked

"Somewhere really important!"

"Do you know where I can find Princess Kiara?' he looked at me and then nodded

"Go to her room, I'm just coming out from there" he answered, I was about rushing and he called my name

"Princess Audrey!" He called and I turned to him

"Can you make time for me,I need to talk about something important to you" I nodded and left. What important stuff does he have to talk about? I will know when I meet him but now Kiara is more important.

I got to the door of her room and knocked, she opened immediately as if she was actually waiting for me

"Princess Audrey!! Are you calm now? You left the garden angrily" she still haven't forgotten how angry I was," what a good friend"

I looked around her room and saw how well decorated it is, it was really decorated in a princess style

"Sit" she ushered me, and I sat on the bed, while she sat beside me

"What's the problem, do you want to talk about Diana" she asked and I shook my head

"I was really angry when I left, and didn't talk to you about it, I'm sorry" I apologize

"I understand"

"What's the problem!"

"I was having an argument with Melvin a while ago, the conversation brought about me telling him that he doesn't care for me,then he made the most confusing statement"

"Which is?"

"He said he care, that he cared for me and everyone, but he can't love anyone" I could see that Kiara was confused too

"Meaning?" She asked

"That was the same question I asked myself. He didn't finish his statement and left, he only said he is.. then stopped" I explained

"Do you think this has a connection with Elvis?" She asked and I nodded

"After the incident when we were little, That was when Melvin changed towards us" she told me

"Then it really has something to do with it"

"But if he can't love anyone, why is he caring so much about Diana?Why does he treat her differently?" I asked

"Am not sure it has anything to do with her, Elvis and Melvin were friends with her before she started living with us, and the incident happened before she came"

"Forget about things that concern Diana now and focus on winning Melvin's heart, we need to dig out their secrets" she told me, but I shook my head

"I don't want to anymore" I sadly said

"I will just take the honor as is wife, he can love whoever he wants to love, I am just an Omega and I can't run his life for him'" I told her, and she placed her hands on my hands, looking direct into my eyes

"Don't give your honor to someone else, you can do it, don't let her believe you are weak, you already made a threat Don't go back, I know I can only advice you, I can't push you, but for my sake do it" she said, almost feel like crying

"Diana has taken everything that was mine, and I don't want her to do away with yours, you are a princess too, you shouldn't be treated otherwise just because you were married to a man who doesn't love you, she is your love rival and you should win her" she encouraged me.

"Father and mother loves you, Elvis and I too are here for you" She just mentioned Elvis and then I remembered what he told me earlier

"Elvis asked to see me, that he needed to tell me something important, I think it should be about it, maybe he is looking for someone to share his secret with" I told her and she nodded

"Inform me if you feel anything Suspicious, I hope we get to the root of everything" She told me
