Chapter 112
Isabella's POV
David was still on the floor.
He had not moved.
Not even a little.
One moment he had been standing at the altar, waiting for his perfect bride, smiling like everything was finally going right for him.
Now he was on cold marble, staring up at me like his whole world had just been ripped open.
Good.
Let him feel it.
Let him feel even a fraction of what I felt that day.
The cathedral was no longer quiet. People were whispering. Some were crying. Some were already pulling out their phones, recording everything like this was just another scandal to watch later.
They had no idea.
None of them understood what this really was.
This was not just a ruined wedding.
This was a grave being opened.
This was the dead coming back.
This was justice finally breathing.
I stood at the altar in white. The dress was heavy now. It pressed against my skin like it did not belong to me.
Maybe it never did.
I looked down at David again.
His lips were moving.
No sound came out.
He looked like a man trying to wake up from a nightmare and realizing he could not.
"You wanted to marry me," I said quietly.
My voice still carried. The whole cathedral heard it.
"You stood there and promised forever. Promised protection. Promised love."
I took a step closer to him.
"And you did not even know who you were marrying."
His eyes moved. Slowly. Finally. They locked on mine.
Fear.
Real fear.
Not confusion.
Not denial.
Fear.
Good.
"You want to understand?" I asked.
No one answered.
No one dared.
I turned slightly, enough to face the crowd.
"All of you should hear this. Since you came to witness a wedding. You might as well witness the truth."
I saw Anna.
Her face was pale. Tears already running down. She looked like she wanted to disappear.
I saw Yvonne.
She looked worse.
Shaking. Breathing hard. Eyes wide like she was watching something she could not stop.
They both knew.
They just never thought it would reach this point.
I pointed at Anna first.
"You remember me, don't you?"
Her lips trembled. She nodded slowly.
"We were friends," I said. "Not just friends. We were close. I trusted you."
My throat tightened, but I forced the words out.
"I told you everything. My plans. My fears. My dreams. You knew how much I loved him."
Anna broke then. A sob escaped her mouth.
"Don't," she whispered. "Please don't do this here."
"Here is exactly where it should be done," I replied.
My voice stayed calm, but something inside me was shaking.
"You watched everything happen. You saw him take my money. You saw him replace me. You saw me fall apart."
I took another step.
"And you said nothing."
She shook her head. Crying harder now.
"I was scared," she said. "I didn't know what to do."
"You knew exactly what to do," I snapped.
The sharpness in my voice made people flinch.
"You just chose not to."
Silence fell again.
I let it sit there. Let it press into her. Into everyone.
"You let them destroy me," I said. "Then after I was gone, you helped them rewrite the story."
Her face twisted in guilt.
"You told people I was unstable. That I was obsessed. That I couldn't accept rejection."
"I didn't mean it," she cried. "They made me say it."
I laughed.
A dry sound. Empty.
"They made you?"
I shook my head slowly.
"No. You chose it. Just like you chose to stand there today and act like you had nothing to do with it."
I turned away from her before she could say anything else.
I did not need her excuses.
They were useless now.
My eyes moved to Yvonne.
She looked like she already knew she was next.
"You," I said softly.
Her shoulders stiffened.
"My best friend."
Her breathing became uneven.
"We shared everything. Clothes. secrets. dreams."
I swallowed.
"And you shared my fiancé too."
Gasps spread through the room.
Yvonne closed her eyes.
"I was wrong," she whispered. "I know that now."
"You knew it then," I said.
My voice dropped lower.
"You just didn't care."
She looked at me again. Tears filled her eyes.
"I thought he loved me," she said. "I thought you would be okay. I didn't think it would go that far."
I felt something twist inside me.
For a second.
Just a second.
Then it hardened again.
"You didn't think," I said. "That was the problem."
I walked closer to her now.
"You stood there and watched him take everything from me. Then you stepped into my place like I never existed."
Her lips parted, but no words came out.
"You married him," I continued. "You lived in my house. You used my money. You lived my life."
Her knees looked weak.
"You thought you won."
I leaned closer.
"So I made sure you lost."
Her face crumbled.
"The night at the gala," I said. "You remember that?"
She nodded slowly.
"You thought you lost control. Thought you were just angry. Emotional."
I smiled.
"I made that happen."
Her eyes widened.
"I knew exactly how to push you. What to say. What to trigger. I watched you break in front of everyone."
Her breathing turned sharp.
"I needed David to see you as unstable. Dangerous. Someone he couldn't trust."
Tears streamed down her face.
"And it worked," I said.
I stepped back.
"He divorced you. Took everything. Sold your house. Threw you out like you meant nothing."
Her body shook.
"You lost everything," I said quietly.
Then I leaned in again, just enough for her to hear clearly.
"Just like me."
She collapsed.
Her legs gave out. Guards caught her before she hit the floor.
The room felt heavier now.
Darker.
Like the truth was suffocating everyone.
I turned back to David.
He was still staring at me.
Still trying to process.
Still failing.
"And you," I said.
My voice softened.
That made it worse.
"You thought this was love."
He shook his head slightly.
"No," he whispered. "No, this is not real."
"It is," I said.
I knelt down slowly so I was closer to his level.
"You looked at me and saw a second chance. Redemption. Someone who would stay."
His eyes filled with tears.
"And I let you believe that," I said.
"I let you fall in love with me again."
His breathing hitched.
"I let you trust me."
My chest felt tight now.
"I let you give me everything."
I stood again.
"Your money. Your company. Your name. Your future."
I looked around the cathedral.
"Everything you stole from me. You handed back without even realizing it."
Silence.
No one moved.
No one spoke.
Then something broke.
Yvonne.
She screamed.
A raw, broken sound.
Then she ran at me.
I did not have time to move.
She hit me hard. We both fell. The back of my head hit the steps. Pain flashed through me.
Her hands were in my hair, pulling hard.
"You ruined everything!" she screamed.
Her fingers moved to my throat.
She squeezed.
Hard.
"You took everything from me!"
I could not breathe.
My vision blurred.
"You destroyed my life!"
Her grip tightened.
"You killed my baby!"
The words cut through everything.
The guards pulled her off me.
I gasped for air. My chest burned.
For a moment I just stood there, trying to breathe.
Trying to stay upright.
Then I laughed.
Soft.
Broken.
"You killed mine first."
Everything stopped.
Even the guards.
Even Yvonne.
I reached into my dress with shaking hands.
Pulled out the folded papers.
My fingers trembled.
But I held them up anyway.
"You want to talk about babies?"
My voice shook now.
I could not stop it.
"You want to talk about loss?"
I looked at David.
Really looked at him.
"You should hear this."
My throat burned.
"I was pregnant."
Silence.
Complete silence.
"I found out a few weeks before the wedding."
My hands tightened around the papers.
"I wanted to tell you that day. At the altar."
David's face drained of all color.
"I thought it would be a surprise. Something good. Something that would make everything feel real."
My voice broke.
"But you never came."
The memory hit me like a wave.
The church. The people. The waiting.
The silence.
"I stood there in that dress. Waiting. Smiling. Pretending everything was fine."
My chest hurt now.
"I kept thinking you were just late."
Tears blurred my vision.
"I kept waiting."
My voice dropped to a whisper.
"But you never came."
The room felt like it was closing in.
"I found out everything was gone the same day."
I swallowed hard.
"My money. My accounts. Everything emptied."
I looked at Yvonne.
"And you."
Then back to David.
"And you."
My hand shook as I lifted the papers.
"I ended up in the hospital that night."
No one moved.
No one breathed.
"I lost the baby."
The words fell heavy.
"I was eight weeks pregnant."
David made a sound.
A broken, choking sound.
"My body couldn't handle it. The shock. The stress. The humiliation."
My voice dropped.
"I was still wearing my wedding dress when it happened."
Someone in the crowd started crying.
"I was lying in a hospital bed, bleeding, while you were somewhere else starting your new life."
My eyes burned.
"I lost everything that day."
I looked at him.
"My child too."
David's face crumpled.
"You had a baby?" he whispered.
"Our baby."
The words felt like glass in my throat.
"You killed your own child."
He shook his head violently.
"No," he said. "No, I didn't know. I swear I didn't know."
"You didn't care enough to know."
That hit harder.
He froze.
"You didn't ask where I was. You didn't check if I was okay. You didn't even look back."
My voice steadied.
"You just left."
Silence filled the cathedral again.
Heavy. Crushing.
"And now you stand here," I said, "talking about love."
I shook my head slowly.
"You don't even understand what you destroyed."
He broke then.
Completely.
His shoulders shook. His hands trembled.
Tears ran freely down his face.
"I didn't know," he kept saying. "I didn't know."
I stared at him.
For a long time.
Then I spoke.
"It doesn't change anything."
Because it didn't.
Nothing could change that day.
Nothing could bring that baby back.
Nothing could undo what they did.
I straightened my dress slowly.
The white fabric felt heavier than ever.
"This is why I came back," I said.
"Not just for money. Not just for revenge."
I plaed a hand on my stomach without thinking.
"For everything you took."
I looked at all of them.
"Now you know."
No one spoke.
No one moved.
The truth sat in the room like something alive.
Something breathing.
Something that would never leave.
And for the first time since I started this…
I did not feel powerful.
I did not feel satisfied.
I just felt tired.
So tired.
Like everything inside me had finally burned out.
I looked at David one last time.
Then turned away.
The wedding was over.
Everything was over.
And still…
The emptiness remained.
