Chapter 26-3

"You are just going to take money from Landon without him knowing. He going to kill me. He will beat me, fuck me, before he stabs me through the chest, most likely while fucking me and let me die out." She giggled between each word until it turned into full-blown laughter that had her ribs and head pounding. Once she started, she found she couldn't stop as peels and peels of laughter unfolded from deep inside of her. She couldn't stop laughing even as Chase gently cupped her tender face between his hands. "Why am I laughing? It's not even funny. He will honestly kill me when he finds out I've talked. So why am I laughing?" She chuckled as she clutched her ribs as she gasped for air between each breath. She looked into Chase's worried tears and tears spilled down her face despite the giggle escaping through her mouth as she tried to gasp for more air. "Charlotte look at me and listen to me carefully. You need to relax. Its been an emotional day, and it's starting to get to you. I can tell you are in pain so I'm going to give you some very strong medication the doctor gave me. It will make you sleepy, but it will calm you down. I'll be back okay." She looked into Chase's hazel eyes and nodded her head while still laughing like she had heard the funniest joke in the world. She watched as Chase stood up and Nathan took his face and gently grabbed her hands. "It will be okay, Charlotte. I will help you get back on your feet and I promise he can never get his hands on you again. I will hire some men and watch out for him and keep you safe. In return is you and Chase have dinner and my place with my wife and kids okay." Charlotte's laughing turned into giggles, which turned into hiccups. She nodded her head while smiling despite her brain raging at her to be sad. She didn't understand why she was laughing when she was sacred. She didn't understand why she found it so funny that Landon would find her again. Her thoughts and emotions kept racing like a never-ending tornado when Chase came back with a tablet and some water. "Charlie, take this, it will make you feel better." Charlotte took the water and tablet off Chase and swallowed without giggling. She placed the cup on the coffee table with shaky hands and giggled when Chase wrapped his arms around her and pulled her to his chest. She felt warm and safe and quickly her body filled heavy. Her giggling faded as her limbs became noodles and her eyes felt so heavy, she had no option but to close them. Her head was still pounding and so were her ribs, but she felt relaxed. "Sleep." Was the last thing she heard Chase whisper before her entire body became heavy and shut down. *** Chase watched as Charlie slowly fell asleep on him. He looked towards Nathan who was watching Charlie with a sad look on his face. The hospital had warned him about when Charlie was discharged about her emotional state and watching her have an emotional breakdown was heartbreaking. The medication he gave Charlie was given to him in case she needed it and it was to calm her down and make her sleepy. "I will put her to bed. I'll be down in a second." Chase gently stood up with Charlie in his arms, making sure not to cause her any more pain. "That's okay, Chase. I'll finish setting up her accounts and you can help me finish the last bits." Chase nodded at Nathan and took Charlie up to his room. He gently placed her on the bed and brushed some blonde hair out of her face. He sat at the end of the bed and watched Charlie for a few seconds, knowing her recovery would not be easy. The bruises on her face were still clear and her eye was red where the blood vessels had broken. He knew soon the visible injuries would fade, but the emotional scars would be left behind. He wasn't sure the effect of what Charlie had gone through for so many years would have on her and he hoped that she would confine in him when she needed to and share her burden with him. Chase lent forward and placed a kiss on her forehead and made his way back to Nathan, who was still typing on his computer "I have set up her bank account and talked to my guys. I have also transferred through 5 million to start with and a monthly transfer of $500,000 for 1 year." Chase sat down on the couch and nodded his head. His heart was pounding a thousand miles an hour as he did some sums in his head. He knew that was more than enough money to get Charlotte set up for life and while he was worried about the legal implication, he was also glad that Charlie would never have to worry about money again. "Thankyou for all your help, are you sure Charlie won't get in any trouble?" Chase watched Nathan stop typing on his computer and looked up at him. "No, if anyone questions they will see money being transferred form an account from Landon without him ever knowing. Many rich men like Landon give their partners an allowance so they would never question it." Chase nodded his head and chatted with Nathan while he finished up what he needed to do before closing his laptop. "I have some news, I wasn't sure if I should mention it to Charlotte but I'll let you know to decide if you should tell her. Landon went off-grid the day Charlotte went hospital. He booked a flight out of Australia and has gone missing. I have alerts out for if he returns but for the meantime, he isn't in the country." Chase nodded his head as his stomach dropped, leaving a sickness in the pit of his stomach. "Thank you for telling me." He wasn't sure if he would tell Charlie, but he knew she was worried about where Landon was and what he was doing. Nathan stayed for a few more minutes before Chase walked him out. "I'll keep you up to date on what is going on and I'll have my boys bring Charlotte's stuff over once she sends me her list of things need." Chases nodded his head and said goodbye to Nathan before going back inside to do some work while Charlie slept.
