Chapter 50 VOL II : Aurielo's past(2)
Chapter 50 VOL II : Aurielo's past(2)
WRITER’S POV
After the poisoning of Terra, she was taken to Montagna's best doctors and kept in the best environment possible.
She could see. She could hear.
But she couldn't speak, and she couldn't remember anyone.
Massimo kept her under strict watch.
Some demons still believed she was pregnant with the Golden Witch.
After that, Luana was taken to Witchesville and placed in the care of Margaret Vale.
Her memories were wiped clean, and she was told that her parents had died when she was a baby.
Luana never questioned anything. She believed everything she was told.
Aurelio used to check on her from time to time, but always from a distance. He never got close.
He couldn't face the fact that she couldn't remember him.
But he was there every single time.
When she cried.
When she laughed.
When she was happy.
Even when she would sneak out.
He was always watching his sister, silently protecting her from afar while cultivating his magic and growing stronger.
He had to become stronger.
For her.
One day, he secretly followed her to one of her usual teleportation spots.
That's where he saw her with a young girl around her age.
Purple hair.
Red eyes.
Aurelio instantly knew she was a vampire.
He later learned that she had run away from home when she was young and hidden in Argento.
There, she had been taken in by her adoptive parents, who ran a circus.
Her real parents—the Vampire Count and Countess—had searched earnestly for her, but they couldn't find her.
Because the Head Witches had begun to detect Aurelio's presence, he couldn't visit Luana as often as he wanted.
His magical aura was too strong.
So, he decided to approach the young vampire instead.
He wanted to get to know her so he could always ask her how Luana was doing.
He still remembered the blush that would taint her cheeks whenever they spoke.
\---
She didn't trust him at first, but eventually, she came to consider him a friend.
He never told her that he was related to Luana.
Instead, he claimed to be a distant friend of hers—someone Luana would no longer remember.
Kyla eventually believed him because, at the time, she was quite gullible.
Just quite.
Kyla — Age 15
Aurelio — Age 21
"Cassandra really bullies Luana a lot. It's because she sees her as a threat," Kyla said, tossing an apple into the air and catching it.
Aurelio balled his fists.
He had seen what Cassandra was capable of. She bullied everyone in school.
But one thing that calmed him was knowing that Luana could handle herself.
"But Luana has it covered, right?" he asked, adjusting his hood.
"As always! I just worry sometimes."
"She's strong. She'll be fine. And if it ever gets out of hand, we'll be here, won't we?" he asked, winking at her.
She blushed again.
"Totally! Without hesitation. I'll give her a bite so painful she'll never recover!"
Aurelio laughed.
His deep, echoing voice was music to Kyla's ears. She couldn't help but smile gently.
She loved him.
She had liked him ever since they first met—ever since he had asked for her name at the festival she was attending.
Luana had been performing a traditional witch dance, and afterward, Madam Margaret had taken her to meet some important people who were interested in sponsoring her education to top witch schools.
Aurelio had been proud of her.
He had introduced himself to Kyla as Ace.
And since then, they had met in secret and talked about his baby sister.
"You're really good with those teeth of yours, huh?" he asked, a playful grin dancing across his lips.
"Very good," she said, inching closer to him. "Want to test how good they are?"
They were only inches apart, but she had to look up at him because he was taller than her.
"You don't know what you're saying, kid," he said, looking away.
"I'm not a kid! I told you to stop calling me that!"
"But you're so small, I can barely see you down there," he teased.
"You!"
She started beating him playfully, but it only made him laugh.
After she finally stopped, Kyla looked at him.
"Luana is lucky to have you."
"And you too, Kyla," Aurelio said.
He gently lifted her chin.
The action startled her, but she didn't pull away.
Instead, she liked it.
"I... I..."
She wanted to tell him that she liked him, but she couldn't find the courage.
"I have to leave now. He said, his eyes distracted as he stared into the far corner of the sky. See you later, Kyla."
And just like that, Aurelio disappeared.
He had received an urgent message that required his immediate attention.
\---
After that day, Kyla never returned.
Aurelio never saw her again.
And he couldn't get close enough to check on his sister because security around Luana had been tightened.
He was confused and worried.
Why hadn't she shown up?
Was she alright?
And Luana...
How was she faring?
The urgent call he had received that day had been serious.
Demons were opening the rift that protected the human realm from the outside world, and Aurelio was needed.
He had no choice but to leave.
Later, he decided to travel to Argento to see if Kyla was there.
When he arrived, a festival was taking place, and the circus performers were putting on a show.
And then he saw her.
Her long purple hair was tied into a bun, and her hands and feet moved swiftly as she performed a series of acrobatic moves.
The crowd cheered.
The audience applauded.
Aurelio was impressed.
He had always known she was good, but he hadn't realized she was this good.
Still, one question bothered him.
Why hadn't she shown up anymore?
He had thought she was hurt.
But she wasn't.
She was alive and well, enjoying herself while he had been freaking out.
He felt a little upset.
He couldn't check on his sister anymore, and Kyla was the only person who could help him keep an eye on her.
He decided to talk to her about it.
\---
After the show, he went backstage to find her.
He found her talking to a young man who was also a performer.
Something about the way the man looked at her made Aurelio uncomfortable.
He walked toward them with slow, calculated strides.
"Excuse me," he said, tapping Kyla gently on the shoulder.
She turned around with a sweet smile.
"Yes?"
She assumed he was a fan.
"I'd like to talk to you... alone."
"Oh... um, okay. Charles, please give us a minute."
The young man nodded and left.
Only after he was gone did Aurelio take off his hood, revealing his face to Kyla.
"Have you been alright? I haven't seen you since I left so abruptly the last time. What has—"
"Seen me?" she interrupted.
She frowned.
"I'm sorry, but I think you have me mistaken for someone else."
Aurelio was confused.
"What do you mean? Don't you remember me? It's me. Ace."
Kyla looked just as confused.
"I'm sorry, but I've never seen you before, sir."
