Everyone has skeletons in their cupboards

...... **Flashback**.......

"What brings you here Señor Pattinson?” General Nikolas asked.

"I'm here to reveal the truth you've been hunting, I know you've been suspecting. There's no Robert Pattinson, my real name is Santiago De León, the adopted son of Señor Santiago De León. I know you are going to ask me why I was hiding behind that identity."

"Let's be honest if you were in my shoes you'd do the same when the entire world hates you because of your late father's past life. I couldn't stand the hate and all so I decided to change my identity, for myself and my family." He concluded.

"What do I make of this? Why are you telling me this now?" General Nikolas asked. He sounded relieved but disappointed as well, although Santiago has revealed his true identity, there's no evidence to pin him down because he was never seen in the crime scenes.

"My sister was abducted and my girlfriend is being threatened by the abductor. I don't know who it was and why they did that, but I got a whiff about it so I planted a tracking device on her. Can you go with me to catch this person?"

General Nikolas has no choice but to accept, that it's his job to capture criminals, he can't turn Santiago down just because he has a hunch that he is a mafia boss.

....... **Flashback End**.......

Ruth and Sofia were taken back home, Santiago didn't utter a word to Ruth, although he knew that she was being threatened, he was still angry at her.

Andrew, Sofia, Dera, Ruth and Santiago are currently sitting in the living room.

"Why did you reveal your true identity? You should have denied it when he asked." Dera asked.

"I'm tired of hiding in the shadows and also there was no way out of this. Mateo knew who I was, he would tell everyone including the police that I was Santiago De León and they'd believe him because he was a public figure.

"I knew was recording our conversation the moment I saw him press something on his body. He was trying to get me to confess to the crimes I've committed."

Sofia rolled her eyes, "I don't know why you didn't just send a bullet right through his skull the moment you saw him. This would have put an end to all this."

"Trust me I desperately want to do that but I can't at least not just yet. Do you think Mateo didn't have a plan B? Mateo is predictable, I have known him forever and I know how he works. He certainly had a plan B, that recording wasn't only for the police but also for the people. Do you think he didn't have it connected to something at home? If I had killed him then one of his men would have released the recording."

Santiago had already planned everything, he knew that Mateo would have a recording attached to it at home, and this would have caused him problems the moment they killed him. Also, he knows that Mateo won't stay in police custody for long.

Meanwhile, back at the police station, Mateo was being questioned by the police, they wanted to know why he kidnapped Sofia.

"Señor the only reason why we haven't locked you up in one of our cells is because you are a public figure, and you also help the people. I want to know why you kidnapped Santiago's sister." General Nikolas asked.

"Like you, I had my doubts about Santiago De León, I was trying to see if he would reveal himself when I kidnap his sister and as you all saw, he did reveal himself."

"That wasn't your job to do, the police force is meant for such things, you didn't have the right to capture her and torture her."

"Are you sure the police are doing their job? Santiago is hurting my people, do you know how many youths have become drug addicts because of him? Do you know how many families that have mourned the death of their loved ones because of drugs? You weren't taking a foot further so I took it."

"And you believe all that crap he spilt? Let me tell you, he is a mafia. He is hiding behind his father's name, he is a dangerous man to the society. I can't sit and watch the lives of the people in this community become victims of his dirty business."

"Señor I Know that you have the interest of the people in your heart but two wrongs don't make a right. You don't fight fire with fire and yes I know that he is a drug lord but what evidence do you have against him? Do you have his fingerprint on anything confiscated from any crime scene?"

"I'm going to let you go with a warning, but the next time you kidnap someone again, I don't know care for what reason just know that you'll be rotting in jail next to the other criminals."

Mateo left with his stuff, he was angry. His plan didn't work, he couldn't have Ruth to himself and he couldn't get Santiago locked up. There's no way he can present a shred of evidence against Santiago, it will also incriminate him.

General Nikolas watched his retreating figure, he called one of his most trusted officers. "Give me everything there is to know about Mateo Lopez." He dismissed the officer.

He just realized something fishy about Mateo and it's not because he was once accused of being a mafia but because of how determined he was trying to get Santiago into trouble. It looked like he was trying to cover something up by throwing Santiago under the bus.

"Everyone in this damn country has skeletons in their cupboards. I wonder if the public work he is doing is to cover his true business." General Nikolas mumbled.

"I promised the higher-ups to catch a mafia and bring him to justice and I'm not going to stop until I do that, I will do everything it takes to bring a mafia boss to justice."

Ruth sat in their bedroom, she had been trying to get Santiago to talk to her but he had been giving her the cold shoulder. She decided to stand in his way, she raised both of her hands blocking him from taking a step.

"Move Ruth, I have work to do." His voice wasn't as soft as it used to be whenever he was talking to her, it clearly showed how angry he was.

"What did I do wrong? I only wanted to help Sofia, he would have hurt her." She cried out.

"What did you do? Ruth what if something had happened? What if I didn't get there on time? What if he had accomplished his plan by taking you away from me? Yes, I know that he badly wants to have you. Sofia told me."

"I didn't know what to do, I was scared."

"You are dating a mafia, I know how to handle such things perfectly well. What if I wasn't keen enough to know that you were being threatened by him?"

She pouted and hugged him, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry for what I did. I should have told you, I shouldn't have gone there all by myself. You are right and I'm wrong. Forgive me please, I don't like it when you give me the cold shoulders." She stood on her toes and kissed him.

"Don't you ever try something like that again," he warned and she nodded.
