Paranoid

The door opened and a doctor came out, "How is she?" Santiago asked the moment the doctor came.

"It's nothing to worry about, she is fine. She passed out because she was anxious but luckily when she fell, she didn't hurt the baby." He smiled.

"Excuse me, baby?"

"Yes, don't tell me you didn't know she was pregnant.."

"I didn't, can I see her?" The doctor nodded, and he ran into the room. She was already conscious, Ruth spread her hands he hugged her but not tight.

"Are you okay?" She sobbed, and Santiago cleaned her tears.

"Don't cry, I'm fine. Look at me, no scratch." He sat on the bed and held her hands, he kissed her knuckles.

The others just stood and watched them, they were both happy and shocked. No one knew that she was pregnant, it frightened them of what could have happened if she had hit her stomach when she passed, only the thoughts of it scared them.

"Did the doctor tell you?" She held her stomach and smiled.

"Yes, he did, how did we not know? How far gone are you?" He asked.

"He said three months... You don't seem happy about it Santiago." She pulled her hand out of his hold and placed it on her stomach.

"Are you crazy Ruth? Of course, I'm happy, I'm still in shock. From now henceforth, if you are living in the house without me or Andrew, you will have bodyguards with you. I can't risk it." He caressed her cheeks, then her stomach.

"I'm pregnant not in trouble," she laughed.

"You are carrying my child, trust me it's dangerous." He said with a serious face, Although his enemies don't know who he is, he can't be too sure. What if someone finds out about her and the baby?

"Santiago why don't you stop this kind of business? Did you see the number of officers who lost their lives today? The number of men you lose too, we can't risk the lives of others like this." She searched his eyes as she spoke but there was nothing to see inside his eyes.

"You should rest, I'll go ask the doctor when you'll be free to go home." He brushed off the topic. "Come with me Andrew," both of them left the room.

Dera finally had the chance to hug her best friend, "Chubby" She hugged her, "You scared the shit out of me, why didn't you tell me you were feeling dizzy?" Dera asked.

"Dera, that's enough question and answer. Let her rest." Sofia said she helped Ruth lay down and covered her up. They left the room so she would be able to rest.

Ruth was discharged from the hospital since there was nothing wrong with her, just so she'll be okay, Santiago has been working at home. Having a child has been one of his dreams but the dream couldn't come true because of his job and promiscuous life, he can't believe the dream is about to come true and it's all thanks to Ruth.

"What have you done about Quevo?" Santiago asked, Cortez. Cortez had come to the house since Santiago had chosen to be indoors.

"Cortez is behind bars, we planted some incriminating evidence against him. We gave him a taste of his own medicine only that his medicine was bitter. We also took care of his men." Cortez smiled, he loves doing jobs that involve taking care of the enemy.

"Give me the report of this month's sale."

Cortez handed him an iPad, "What is wrong with the Casino? Why is the income dropping?" He asked.

"I was going to tell you about it boss, The casino in Toledo isn't doing well. I don't know why though because I know there's no single night without customers, The money we receive is much but it's not what we are supposed to be receiving. I think someone is stealing from us, boss." Cortez concluded.

"Go to Toledo tomorrow and supervise how they operate, Don't interfere with the business there just act like you know nothing." He instructed.

After the long meeting between them, Cortez retired home. Andrew walked in minutes later. "Isn't it risky for Cortez to come here? Sure the police have never seen his face but don't you think Mateo and the others would recognize him?" Andrew asked.

"I know it's risky but I'd rather risk being caught than risk Ruth and baby."

"Santiago, Ruth is pregnant, not crippled. If your enemies find out who you are, she would be in much bigger trouble." Andrew wasn't happy with the way Santiago was reacting to the news of her being pregnant.

"I'm thinking of sending her away, you know to a different town or country."

"You know Ruth she is not going to accept this, You shouldn't send her away."

"I know this is your first time and you are worried but think things first before doing anything. You might make a mistake that might lead to something disastrous.... Let's change the topic, What did Cortez say?"

"It looks like someone has been stealing from me," he smiled. Instead of the smile to brighten up his face, it only made him look evil.

"Poor soul." That was all Andrew could say.

"What do you think about the proposal from Mendoza? Bolivian product is highly rated, it will bring us more cash. I know that we are making a lot but with Bolivian products, we are going make more."

"I don't want to deal with Bolivia, they are good but I'd rather continue with our production. The reason why I'm changing our location is because I want us to go big."

"If that's the case then it's good."

Meanwhile, the police station was in Chaos, General Nikolas was burning with rage. "I am sure the people who came with masks are Santiago and his most trusted partner."

"What do we do boss? None of the men we shot are alive and we've lost some officers as well." Officer A said.

"And this is because of Robert, I Know he is the one who is behind all this." General Nikolas mumbled.

"We don't have enough evidence to pin him down," Office A said.

"I know we don't, we need something strong to pin him down. Even if we find out that Robert is Santiago, there's still no evidence against him. All the properties we've acquired are not in his name, we've never seen Santiago doing something illegal All we've heard are just rumours." He breathed out.

"That's another problem...."
