Chapter 251
Anna’s POV:
Blake stood with his back to me, silhouetted against the hotel Window.
He fumbled with his lighter twice before the flame taught, illuminating his face momentarily as he lit a cigarette.
I couldn’t remember the last time I’d seen him smoke.
The acrid smell filled our room, making me cough.
My entire body ached, each movement sending waves of pain through me.
Blake turned, his eyes meeting mine, filled with what could only be described as hatred. Without a word, he crushed the cigarette in the ashtray
“No way,” he said finally, his voice unnervingly calm.
I didn’t have the strength to argue as he lifted me from the bed and carried me to the bathroom. The sheets we’d been lying on were beyond salvation.
After helping me clean up, Blake moved us to another room.
“You’re sick,” he stated flatly. “Skip Seth’s wedding. I’ll pass on your wishes.”
So that’s what he’d been wanting to tell

I must have crashed at some point.
The next morning, a knock woke me up. Blake opened the door to find Claire standing there in a pink princess dress. She grabbed his sleeve and pulled hi away, completely ignoring me.
After they left, I struggled to get out

bed.
Every muscle protested, my head spun, but I was determined.
Seth was getting married today, and I needed to be there, even if just to catch a glimpse from afar. I hadn’t flown all the way to Paris to miss this.
I called Emily, asking if she could pick me up. There was no way I could make it on my own.

I managed to shower and throw on some clothes, fighting through the pain. I dabbed concealer under my eyes and had just finished when the doorbell ra
I figured was Emily, but when I opened it, there stood Seth in a white tux, breathing hard like he’d sprinted all the way here.
“You’re crazy!” I exclaimed. “Why aren’t you at your wedding greeting guests?”
Seth pushed past me into the room. “Blake said you weren’t coming today. I… I didn’t think twice, just snuck out. Who knows when I’d get to see you otherwise?”
His face, initially smiling, gradually turned serious. “Anna, what if I don’t go through with this wedding? What if I take you away instead?”
“What are you saying?”
‘I won’t get married. I’ll take you away.”
“And go where exactly?” I asked. “Even if you bail on your own wedding, the media will announce your marriage by this afternoon. go back.
Seth’s expression hardened. “So what? As long as you come with me, I don’t care what the media writes.”
After a moment of tense silence, Seth tried to lighten the mood. He playfully pinched my cheek. “I’ve never tried running away from my own wedding Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?”

Blake had been so rough last night. Everything fucking hurt.
Seth’s gaze turned penetrating. “You’re injured. He grabbed my hand and pushed up my sleeve, revealing an arm covered in shocking purple founta

Seth strode toward the door. ‘I’m not getting married. Not happening. Come with me now. We’ll announce were together to the medial
“Seth! Calm down!” I shouted.
“How can I be calm? His eyes burned with intensity. Look at you! I thought stepping back would make you happy, but you’re still suffering. I’d eve sumy company, my status, everything–none of that matters if it means you’d be happy!”
I took a deep breath. “Seth, I don’t love you!”
His hand froze on the doorknob, knuckles turning white. “What did you say?”
“You heard me.”
Seth’s shoulders slumped. “Yeah. I know. I’ve always known.”
“I gave my heart to Blake when I was young,” I explained. “What we had was brief but I gave it my best. We shouldn’t waste what we have now. Seth, we tried, and even though it didn’t work out, we shouldn’t have regrets. Let the past stay in the past.”
“No… I do have regrets,” he insisted.
I forced myself to be the rational one. “Think about what you’re risking–multi–million dollar contracts, your father Robert and brother Maxwell’s explicit orders, your sister–in–law’s unborn child’s life, your reputation in the industry, your freedom.”
“You’re too practical,” Seth said, defeated. “If you’d just be crazy with me once, I wouldn’t give a damn about any of that.”
“If you cancel today, all projects with the Morris family end immediately. Price family companies will suffer. Resources will be lost. There’ll be penalty fees. Other businesses will boycott your family’s companies. Blake’s partnership with Victoria’s family will be affected. Your cooperation with Isabelle Morris will
be over.”
“I’ve thought about all that,” Seth admitted. “But if you were in, we could handle anything.”
I shook my head firmly. “I won’t torch everything for feelings. I don’t have emotions strong enough to sacrifice it all.”
“I just needed to be stronger than Blake to deserve you,” he said quietly.
It wasn’t about deserving. But Blake’s grip on me said everything.
“Anna…” Seth asked one final question. “Even if I ran away from my wedding for you, there’s still no chance for us, is there?”
“How did you get here?” I asked instead. “Emily can/drive you back to the venue.”
Seth gave a bitter smile. “Got it.” He paused. “I’ve kept a secret for a long time. Since we’re never happening, I don’t want to hide it
