Chapter61 I'll Handle Everything for You

Chapter61 I'll Handle Everything for You
Soon, Jam's medical team arrived, and a group of people rushed into the operating room.
Of course, following them was Jam, who was purely there to watch the excitement.
He was like an overly energetic puppy, running around everywhere.
One moment interrogating Caius: "Who is that girl in there? How did she manage to capture the heart of our cold-blooded business emperor?"
The next moment sighing: "Caius, you should really thank me for not recording what you look like right now. Otherwise, everyone would be competing to kidnap your woman and force you to agree to their demands."
Caius lifted his eyelids to glance at him and said indifferently: "I won't allow that to happen."
Another batch of doctors arrived.
He signed another surgical consent form.
Finally, a doctor removed his mask and breathed a sigh of relief: "Mr. Caius, the patient is completely out of danger."
The vein at Caius's temple finally relaxed: "Thank you."
He turned his head. Jam looked at him like he'd seen a ghost.
"The most unbelievable thing happened today. Someone as rude as you actually thanked someone else?!"
"She still needs post-operative care." Caius said. "Of course I need to keep up appearances for that."
Jam teased:
"So you don't actually have a cat, do you? That day when you called me, that soft, delicate voice..."
"Did I give you permission to pry into my privacy?" Caius interrupted him. "That costs extra."
Jam complained: "I can't even talk about it? You're really betraying your friend for a woman!"
Caius ignored him and started walking forward.
He needed to go to the study on the top floor to handle the work that had piled up over the past few days.
Jam hurried after him asking:
"What's so special about this woman that she's worth you giving up land and forum hosting rights for her? Don't tell me it's a whim. I understand you better than others."
"You understand me?" Caius scoffed. "Don't flatter yourself."
Linnea wouldn't ask such stupid questions. She never thought he was some meticulous, cautious person. She knew how crazy he could be to achieve his goals.
Jam watched his departing back and shook his head with a smile.
How rare. Someone like Caius, who seemed completely incapable of emotional fluctuation, would actually do so much for a woman?
What kind of charm did that woman have?
...
After enduring countless nightmares, Linnea finally woke up.
Looking at the snow-white ceiling above, she fell into brief confusion.
She'd actually survived, after Carla poisoned her with that potent toxin.
"Swoosh..."
Someone pulled open the curtains. Bright sunlight flooded over Linnea's entire body.
"Good morning, Linnea. Nice to meet you. You really are a charming girl."
Linnea turned her head warily. It was a strange man with blond hair, blue eyes, especially deep-set eye sockets, and a slightly upturned nose tip.
Noticing her question, Jam smiled and introduced himself:
"I'm Jam. Like your man, I'm a self-interested businessman."
Jam... Linnea remembered.
When she competed with Amy for that painting, Amy's excuse was that she wanted to give it to Mr. Jam. And when Caius was helping her apply medicine while communicating with a business partner, the person on the other end was him too.
Linnea said cautiously: "Hello."
"No need to be so formal, Linnea." Jam winked at her, smiling easily. "I'm one of Caius's few friends, and you're the woman who's never appeared by Caius's side before, someone who can make him care. In a sense, we're also friends. I won't hurt you."
"Caius and I aren't in that kind of relationship..."
"But to beg me to save you, he spent a priceless piece of land and very crucial forum hosting rights."
Linnea froze.
During her coma, Caius really went that far for her?
But why?
"Who gave you permission to enter the ward?" Outside the door, Caius's cold voice rang out. "Get out."
Jam said pitifully: "So heartless? Miss Linnea was saved by the medical team I trained, and now I don't even have visitation rights..."
"This was just a transaction. Or are you not satisfied with what you gained from it?"
Jam had no choice but to leave.
As he crossed the threshold, he deliberately bumped Caius's shoulder: "You're really a boring friend."
Caius had no reaction.
Linnea watched all this in confusion until Caius's palm covered her forehead: "Does your head still hurt? The doctor will be here soon."
The doctor quickly finished examining her and left. Only the two of them remained in the ward.
Caius sat beside her, unwrapping the bouquet he'd personally carried in and stuffing it into a vase. Linnea was momentarily shocked that he would do something so romantic, while observing his appearance.
A few seconds later.
"Pfft..." Linnea couldn't hold back her laughter. "Caius, why do you look so rough?"
The Caius before her had stubble around his mouth, chaotic dark circles under his eyes, and bloodshot eyes. This was completely different from his usual meticulous appearance. He looked like he'd shed his human exterior and become a rough leopard.
Seeing her laugh like a cat who'd stolen fish, Caius was both annoyed and amused. He flicked her forehead with his finger:
"Laughing at how rough I look? Ungrateful bad cat. Wasn't it all to take care of you?"
Linnea immediately retorted: "Shouldn't you be taking care of me?"
She thought Caius would continue mocking her, but Caius closed his eyes and let out a compromising breath: "Fine, it's my fault."
He didn't blame Linnea further. Instead, he carefully embraced her, avoiding the bandages and needle marks on her body:
"Linnea, you're completely out of danger now. You'll recover soon. Don't worry, there are no side effects. You're still whole."
Linnea finally felt the reality of being pulled back from the edge of death.
A day ago, she'd been poisoned by Carla with a potent toxin.
If not for Caius, she couldn't have woken up, much less be alive and healthy.
Gratitude almost overwhelmed her.
But should she thank Caius? That seemed too distant... No, when had she and Caius ever had a familiar relationship?
Linnea blinked, hooked her arm around Caius's neck, and struggled to lean in.
But just before her kiss landed on Caius's face, he grabbed her wrist.
Caius pulled her hand into his and pressed his brow.
Linnea looked at him in confusion: "Did the doctor say we can't kiss?"
"It's me who can't."
Caius smiled. He pressed Linnea's hand to his crotch, making her palm touch that bulging mass. It was harder and hotter than a branding iron... Linnea's breath stopped in fright.
"Linnea, what's your hurry?" Caius's voice revealed neither joy nor anger, only madly surging desire. "Don't worry. Once you're better, I'll return every bit of teasing you've given me, not a drop less."
Linnea had to shelve her "repayment."
Caius quietly held her, listening to her steady breathing.
After a while, he asked: "Linnea, what exactly poisoned you?"
Linnea was at a loss for words. She didn't dare answer right away, because Caius's tone wasn't entirely puzzled, but carried suspicion and inquiry.
"I don't know."
"You can't even tell me secretly?"
Linnea fell silent.
He just gently stroked Linnea's back, his tone light as if soothing:
"Linnea, trust me, okay? Just tell me, and I'll handle everything for you."
