Chapter 53 Is Something Burning?
Mr Mattias’s POV
I stepped off the plane. My heart racing with a mix if excitement and impatience.
I had been waiting for this moment, for what felt like an eternity—two weeks of uncertainty and worry. Now, I was finally here, ready to find Shimma.
I climbed into the back seat of the car that was waiting for me.
“Good day Mr Mattias,” he greeted.
“Good day, Ibwant you to take me to this address. And hurry,” I said handing the driver the slip of paper with her address.
As the driver drove, My mind raced with all the things I wanted to say when I saw her. I could imagine the look on her face, the relief in her eyes, the feel of her skin. Gosh!
The drive felt endless, each minute amplifying my impatience. I just needed to get to her. I want to see her.
——
When the car finally slowed and I spotted the house, my heart raced.
I stepped out, taking a deep breath to steady my nerves. I walked up to the front door. My body trembling. This was it.
I knocked firmly, my heart pounding in my chest as I waited. Just as I was about to knock again, the door swung open.
A man stood there, tall and unfamiliar, with a puzzled expression. “Can I help you?” he asked, his tone cautious. I frowned, wondering what a man was doing here, or was i in the wring address? Shit! No!
“I’m looking for Shimma,” I said, urgency rising in my voice.
He frowned, glancing around as if unsure why I was there. “I think you’ve got the wrong place. I’m just here to check on some things for a friend,” he replied.
My heart sank. “Are you sure? This is the address I was given.”
He shrugged, still looking bewildered. “I don’t know a Shimma. Sorry.”
I stepped back, frustration welling up inside me. I had driven all this way, only to end up at the wrong house. “Thanks,” I muttered, turning away, disappointment settling heavily on me.
SHIMMA'S POV.
I opened the door, my hopes shattering as i saw a lady, probably in her thirties. She had brown hair, and a creepy wide smile.
“Are You Shimma,” she asked, i nodded, trying to wash off the feeling of disappointment.
“Oh! Your Aunt tells me a lot about you. Is she back yet?“ She asked, her eyes wise with curiosity.
“Uh, not yet, but soon,” i said.
“Mind if i wait for her?“ The lady asked. I nodded, paving the way for her to pass through.
As she walked past me, she quickly turned to me, her expression shifting to something entirely different, something i couldn't quite understand until she open her mouth to speak.
“Is something burning?“ She asked and that was when the burning smell Crept into my nose. My pie was burning. Fuck!
MR MATTIAS'S POV.
Just as i slid into my car. My phone rang. I glanced down at the screen, wondering why Derry was calling.
I picked it up because i was curious to know why. But the mocking laughter that followed left me stunned.
