Chapter 20 Mr Mattias and Lucas.
“Shimma, Be my girlfriend,” Mr Mattias said. I gasped softly as my eyes flew open in shock.
I was so dumbfounded, my tongue ceased words. Just then, my door opened as Lucas stood by the door. His eyes fell on Mr Mattias who squatted in front of me.
“Lucas,” Mr Mattias said. Still squatted in front of me. Mr Mattias seemed un-bothered, But the way Lucas glanced at me sent a shiver down my spine. I couldn't quite read his expression—was it anger, concern, or something else entirely?
LUCAS.
“Shimma,” I found myself whispering her name. A smirk escaped my lips. Why do I find myself thinking of her?
I mean, she's pretty, sure. But she's not the prettiest I have seen. There's just something about her. Something about her eyes. The way she looked at me. I loved how innocent she seemed. How gentle she sounded, I have to get to know her better. I don't know, but there's this force, pulling me towards her. And the way she stared at me, I can tell that she felt it too.
I was done with what I had to do for the day. It was the best opportunity to introduce myself to her, and maybe get to know her properly.
I stood outside her door, debating whether to knock. No, that would seem weak. As the manager, I needed to project confidence. So, I took a deep breath and opened the door.
My heart sank as I spotted Mattias squatting in front of her.
What was he doing? That felt inappropriate, especially for a boss. I turned to Shimma. She looked worried, was he bothering her? Or was he taking advantage of her gentle demeanor?
No, I couldn’t believe that about my cousin. We hadn’t grown up close, and I had only moved to the city a few months ago. Since we began working together, I'd never seen him act inappropriately.
“Lucas,” he called. He seemed unbothered by my presence. i cleared my throat.
“Sorry, I'll come back later, I can see you're busy,” I said. I turned to leave. But something made me stop.
I turned back to them. Slowly advancing towards them. Maybe Shimma needs my help. I need to get Mattias out of here.
“Bro,” I called to him, my voice firm.
He furrowed his brows.
“I thought i asked you not to call me that while we're in the office?” He questioned. I hissed softly.
“I'm sorry, Bro—i mean, Boss. There's something I need to talk to you about,” I said to him.
“Go back to your office, I'll call for you later,” He said to me.
“It's urgent,” I insisted.
“How urgent is it that it can't wait? Can't you see I am busy?“ He said to me. There was seriousness in his voice. But that wasn't enough to make me leave. I wouldn't let him do anything to Shimma. And I'm sure she needs my help.
“Uhmm, you can go Sir, we can talk later,” Shimma said to Mattias. He turned to me. Getting up on his feet as he began to slowly advance towards me.
MR MATTIAS.
I needed to know her response. I wanted to know if she wanted to be my girlfriend. But Lucas. He came in and ruined the moment.
I got up on my knees, my eyes locked with Lucas's. I walked past him, brushing his shoulders with mine. Letting him know he got me pissed.
He followed behind me, shutting the door closed.
We both got to my office. I walked in first, followed by him. I didn't even get to my seat or turn to him.
“What is it that you wanted to tell me?” I asked.
“Uhmm, I would like you to take a seat first,” He said to me, I raised a brow.
“I chose to stand, and who are you to tell me what to do? It seems you are forgetting your place right?“ I said to him, I could feel anger slowly building inside of me.
Lucas cleared his throat. He slipped his hand in and out of his hair, before parting his lips to speak.
“Shimma, who is she? And why were you squatting in front of her?“ Lucas asked. I held my words for a few seconds. Thinking to myself.
Was that why He asked to see me? And how does he know her name? I had only informed him to expect a new employee who was going to be my P.A, What was he doing at her office?
“And how does that concern you?“ I asked.
“I don't know, I'm just concerned, because, to me, that was inappropriate, and what if any other employee had walked into her office, how would they have felt about the situation?“ Lucas mumbled.
“What situation? You know what? Leave my office, I don't have time for this nonsense,” I said.
“Bu—but…,”
“Lucas, leave! If this is why you called me, you must be really out of your mind, leave!“ I said firmly. And he left.
I went over the desk, I sat down on my chair, slouching backwards. As my mind began to race with thoughts.
The fact that Lucas walked into Shimma's office without me assigning him to, meant something, and that I needed to find out.
SHIMMA.
I can't believe Mr Mattias had asked me to be his girlfriend. I didn't even see this coming. I am so overwhelmed, yet at the same time, I feel worried. Why I'm I worried?
It's literally the best news I could have gotten from Mr Mattias. It's what I have always longed for. But I guess I hadn't thought of the repercussions until now.
My parents, how would they react to me dating my uncle? How would my father react to me dating his best friend? I was so overwhelmed with the thought of being with Mr Mattias that I had to block out all what this might bring for Mr Mattias and I. The consequences and all.
I want him. I badly want to be his girlfriend. Yet I am scared.
But I won't let fear stop me. We could keep this a secret. My parents don't even have to know. What I feel for Mr Mattias is so deep that I wouldn't just just let this slip out of my arms.
I'll be his girlfriend.
