CHAPTER 39: THE HOUSE SECRETS.

CHAPTER 39: THE HOUSE SECRETS.
DIANA'S POV.

The door flung wide open — aggressive that I sat upright on the bed as if I was being called to order.
I sat up slowly — in the act as my gaze met hers. Her gaze stayed strong. The kind that was fiery, blazing and Flaming.
I was comfortable, unchallenged or even intimidated despite the malice that hung in the air but one thing troubled me and that was?
For someone who had miscarried, did they have much strength to fight the guards the way she did and glare at me now?
Or was I mistaken?
But I stayed still. It was all an act that needed to be played perfectly and so I just recoiled so innocently like I had done to fool everyone later even though I saw in Francesca's eyes. She doubted me.
From the way she clenched her fist and tightened her jaw and there — the smirk that laid on her lips, it was the one that sold you out and let you prepare for every outburst.
A part of me feared what Enzo might do once he found out but I shouldn't worry about that. Right now, I needed to face these two people, Fransesca and a woman who curled like a child behind her. I saw her hands tremble and the hair behind her ears stood out before she obeyed Francesca and walked slowly with calculation towards me.
My eyes traced her from where she stood earlier to now that she crouched low behind me. She opened up her back and my eyes snapped wide.
I looked at Fransesca who was too focused — she waited to see something happen.
Usually, there was no way I wouldn't suspect a nurse who came with Fransesca and behind Enzo. I trembled within me but what now that fate itself was selling me out?
Do I shout and make them know I was okay and with no mental issues?
I closed my eyes with disappointment almost washing off my face that they disappeared the instant she fixed the needle into the syringe and took them towards my hands that she had in her palm.
I looked around and grabbed the glass of water that laid over the desk before shaking the content, letting it spill on her dress as if accidentally as I let out an innocent gasp.
Fransesca cursed.
“You bitch. Would you take that already?“ Now, the nurse glanced over to her as if asking for something but the glare made the nurse shudder and face what she ought to do earlier.
Fransesca wasn't having things and even dragged the nurse's hair shouting she does their business and leaves on time, it was at that moment I pushed the glass to the floor letting it shatter.
The door burst open. Franco barged in and even when Fransesca wanted to defend herself he wasn't listening. She threatened to report him to Enzo but his response let a small smile tug at the edge of my lips.
“Even once he hears you are here, you'd be in more trouble.“ He remarked before pushing her out the doors of my room.
He came back instructing a maid to pick up the pieces of the glass that had shattered on the floor as he apologized to me, tagging it as a 'misunderstanding.'
I nodded, as everyone was playing this game I created.
I chuckled dryly.

It was evening and all I did as I curled on the bed was roll from this end to the other and vice versa. I groaned in frustration as it was hard to sleep.
Every second, my mind would race to Francesca's visit earlier, reminding me I wasn't safe and if she could do that under the watch of the guards and once I was sane, how much more when I let sleep overtake my strength.
A cold wave of air bit through my skin as fear gripped the inner army that stood in my strength. She had always been against me and the only weapon I could ever have at least for now, was pretending to be weak.
But I couldn't just sit here, something had to be done. I was restless, my eyes darted the room I was in — it was just too empty for me to find something to do. I groaned lazily and paused.
Enzo.
His words had replayed in my head. He had told me to roam the house and that — I was doing so already.
I opened the door to my room as I had tied my robe tight letting it clung onto my body as I skipped through the hallway quietly but not with fear.
The mansion stayed quiet except that it smelled for powers and struggles. The guards have retired.
I caught a glimpse of one just next to the dining from where I stood up the stairs but I didn't retreat. Things are different now.
Usually, I should tiptoe around the place but this time, I walked bravely and with much confidence as I made for the study.
I just needed a few notes to clarify the massacre. If my father had done that to Enzo's family.. What caused it?
If I was going to survive here or fight, I needed more than lies. Not the one I made but the truth.
And that… I was about to search.
This had been running for years and finding out now would need a lot of effort. I shrugged the thought off as I sneaked into Enzo's study.
The smell of new books and printed documents filled my nose and my eyes began to search where they were.
I let the door creaks just without noise and once it clicked against its lock softly, I smiled enveloping my presence to the already existing space I walked into as I looked around from the old books to new ones, I let my fingers trailed the hardcover of some as what other bliss do you feel that touching them when I sight a photo album among the other books on the shelf.
The album was old from how it was placed even though I didn't touch it.
I took it out once my curiosity pressed harder.
I flipped through the photo album. Confusion rested on my arched eyebrows once I took a newspaper that had been tucked inside the middle page out to read.
The headline was bold and there — another picture.
My father locked his hands to shake Enzo's father.
How? These things…
The truth I wanted to find was not appearing straight or even real.
If these people were enemies, why would my father meet them?
I was puzzled but I reminded myself that I needed to search some more.
I looked around the bookshelf, for some reason unknown to me, I was going to search for them instead of the drawers or even documents that were laid on his desk and that was when I noticed — marks engraved on the floor like something had been pulled repeatedly.
