Chapter 19 19
Sheila’s POV
After the meeting, I intentionally went straight to Alan’s office. As I stepped in there, I felt a rush of dopamine, oozing from a place of contentment and accomplishment. I smiled widely as I kept relishing the moments Alan was humiliated by me.
I began to show Delilah the changes I want to be effected in the office, it brought me immense joy. I stood in the middle of the office for a minute, soaking it in all at once; the memories I'd made there. I remembered coming in here to see Alan, bringing him lunch which he'd complain that it was being cliché.
I'd wait for him while he attended to business and wouldn't bother to speak to me or offer me anything until I asked for it myself. I thought he was being caring, he focused on the future; our future, but he was being a jerk. Cameron showed me what being loved and valued feels like which made me realize that I had loved a total Jerk and thought he's the best mate in the world.
“Ma'am, do you want it to be a designer or customized to your taste?” Delilah asked, jolting me out of my reverie.
I smiled satisfactorily. “I'll let you decide that.”
She nodded and scribbled on the notepad she held.
I pointed to Alan's chair; the Chair I had saved up and gotten him, a ridiculously handmade Swiss leather chair. He loves the chair a lot and didn’t stop thanking me for days when I bought it.
“I want this desk replaced, I want a Swiss couch there, a water dispenser here and a-”
I was interjected by a red-faced Alan who seemed perplexed to see me in his office.
“What the hell do you think you're doing?” He barked at me and I smirked, gave him a snarky reply which only infuriated him more.
He ranted about how he wouldn't allow me to trample on his legacy which I couldn’t care about and he crossed the line by calling me a whore. Guess what I did? I put him in his place, which had to be done by slapping him hard across his face.
“Say it again,” I hissed, threatening. “I dare you to call me a slut again.” I added. I heaved heavily in anger, changing my countenance.
I wasn't intending on keeping on with his B.S, it was appalling already. He had tried several times to talk down on me during the meeting and he was trying it again.
“You little-” he hissed bitterly, scowling.
I raised my hand again, letting him know that I wouldn't hesitate to slap him again.
“There's more from where that came from.” I reminded him, mockingly.
He scowled so badly and I could see that he was trying hard to bottle up all of his anger. He inhaled slowly and exhaled sharply then his facial expression softened.
“Sheila, what are you doing in my office? You'll have an office for yourself if that's what you want.” He said, convincingly.
I shook my head and provocatively walked up to his chair and sat comfortably in it. “Oh dear, this is the CEO's Office isn't it? I'm the CEO so its only right if I'm here, don't you think? Alpha Alan?”
He looked like he would punch me in the face but was controlling himself not to attempt it.
“Sheil-”
I cut him off abruptly. “This is my office Alan, don't try to change my mind, you accused me of trampling on your legacy but last time I checked, your legacy is now built on lies, cheating others and betrayal, it needs a change, for the sake of the future of the pack. Don't worry, your legacy is now in safe hands and will be changed to what it should be.”
He seethed in anger, seeing how I casually insulted him. It was a joyous moment for me and I savored every second of it. His legacy means the world to him but here I was, trashing it; as it should be.
“You don't have to do this, no!” He stated, shaking his head. “You shouldn't do this and don't make the mistake of thinking I'll go down without a fight.” He added, threatening me.
“I'll be expecting it Alan, additionally, do not barge into this place like some uncultured barbarian, knock or consult my secretary first, she'll decide if you should see me or not.” I informed him, adding salt to his already painful wounds and he frowned. “You can leave now, I have some renovating to do.”
He gritted his teeth and Delilah got the gist. “Do you want the entire place to be redesigned? I'll contact our interior designer immediately, everything here needs to be changed, its outdated and doesn't suit your status.”
Alan had never been so insulted and it was fun to see his expressions change from horror, to anger, then frustration. He turned and began to leave but a loud clanging of heels filled the place, bearing the weight of an unbearably annoying person.
“Alan, what's this news I'm hearing that Sheila is now the CEO? Please tell me it's a li-”
Athena’s words slurred off, as her eyes fell on me. She was shocked and almost lost her balance. She looked at Alan then back at me.
“What is she doing here?” She demanded, pointing maliciously at me.
Alan clenched his fist tightly and I laughed loudly.
“Luna Athena, how kind of you to walk into my office without knocking, that's so typical of you!” I said with a loud voice, laced with obvious fake enthusiasm.
She was taken aback and couldn't say a word, she attempted to retort but decided against it but grabbed Alan's shoulders and began to jerk him.
“Why aren't you saying anything? Why's that bitch seated on your seat.” She asked him, desperation evident in her tone but Alan kept mute. “Soeak to me damn it!” She roared and this made Alan snapped and yanked her hands off his shoulders.
“She's the fvcking CEO!” Alan yelled at her.
“What do you mean she's the CE-”
“It means the investor was her all along and now my company belongs to her! She controls every goddamn fvcking thing now, is that so hard to understand?” Alan shouted, his frustration was now out in the unfold.
“How did you let this happen?” Athena barked.
He snickered. “You think I want this to happen? None of it would have happened if you hadn't pestered me to let an investor take over, this is all your fault!” He heaved heavily and walked out, infuriated.
I leaned back even more as I watched this scene unfold.
“Would you like a popcorn maker somewhere in this office?” Delilah asked, equally fascinated.
“At this rate, we're going to need it for all this drama.” I agreed and we both laughed softly.
Athena finally turned her attention to me, looking angry and killing intent oozing from her. The mockery was targeted at her and she wasn't oblivious of that. She marched towards me, like a charged soldier.
“You little piece of-”
Delilah blocked her path before she could get to me while I smirked even more, increasing her anger and frustration.
“Kindly refrain from taking an action you'll terribly regret.” Delilah cautioned her.
“Get out of my way you little-”
“I will not hesitate to subdue you if you prove to be a threat and it won't end well for you.” Delilah interrupted, in a menacing tone.
I could feel Athena’s frustration, she ached to claw our my eyes or beat me up but now, I'm seated where she can't reach me and it was exactly as Cameron had predicted, it was an heavenly which I enjoyed every moment of.
“Let her through.” I told Delilah, lazily waving my hand.
Delilah nodded and Athena was more red-faced than Alan when she finally could get close to me.
“You shameless whore! What the hell do you think you're doing? How did you even get here?” She asked, impatiently then raised a hand to stop me from responding. “I don't care about any of that, get your ass off that chair and apologize to Alan and I then scurry away like the wretched bottom feeder you are, go give Cameron a blow job or something and live like the whore you are.” She instructed, tapping her feet on the ground.
Delilah scoffed at her words.
“How much is it?” I asked her, calmly.
She arched an eyebrow, irritated at my question. “How much is what?”
“Your audacity.” I spat, changing my tone and this caught her off guard. “You paraded yourself like some clown into my own office and call me names you should be christened. I'd strongly advice that you cry about your inability to manage your own finances, in the privacy of your room but not to me. If you were capable, I wouldn't be here and whether you like it or not is your business.” I added.
She was overwhelmed by my words and scared at my outburst as well, she stopped tapping her feet.
“Luna Athena, like I said to your alpha, I will not tolerate any form of disrespect from any one, not even you too so know your place. Leave my office, your presence is insufferable.” I ordered her, bluntly.
She stuttered some incoherent words, unable to say anything meaningful. She looked at me the sort of looks that could kill while Delilah pointed her to the door.
“You'll regret this!” She cried then angrily walked out.
I clicked my tongue and turned to face Delilah as if nothing had happened. “We need to work and rebuild this company so my investment won't be wasted, are you comfortable with us resuming here for work for the rest of the week? We could be alternating here and our head office?” I asked her, meaningfully. I didn't want the workload to be too much on her.
“It's no problem ma'am. “
“It's going to be double if not triple the world you usually do, if you want it can hire another secretary who will be your secretary and assist you.” I offered.
She smiled warmly and shook her head. “I appreciate your concern ma'am but for now I'll rather stick with you, if the need for assistance arises, I won't hesitate to let you know.”
I reciprocated this with a smile. “Let's just settle in today and go through some files only. Tomorrow, we'll start the deep cleaning. I need to figure out where everything started going downhill, call my restaurant and have them deliver some food to us, I don't know about you but I'm hungry.”
Delilah laughed and did as I said. Half an hour later, the food had arrived and we ate to your hearts content before we got to work. We spent hours going through several files and comparing them. I found some discrepancies in one of the financial records and Delilah noted it down.
My phone rang and I saw it was Cameron calling.
“Hello?”
“It's almost nighttime, have you deserted the love of your life and daughter? Please come home or should I come pick you up myself?” He drawled.
I couldn't help but laugh at how childish and cute he was. “I'll be on my way. Bye.”
I hung up before he could respond and couldn't stop laughing. “Thats Alpha Cameron, it's time to go home. We'll proceed from here tomorrow. “
Ten minutes later, I was already in the car and headed for home. When I arrived home, Cameron and Xyla were standing at the door, waiting for me. Xyla ran into my arms and hugged me tightly, not failing to inform me just how much she had missed me.
Cameron pulled me into a tight hug and kissed me briefly on the lips, carrying Xyla in one hand.
“How was your day at work?” He asked, thoughtfully.
I smiled in contentment. “You have no idea.’
