Chapter 45
Connor's POV
Some time after I returned to London, I was approached by the elders of the family, who told me that the DQ Group matter had almost subsided, but public opinion had not yet completely passed, so they intended to let me operate the company's affairs remotely.
Just as I was dealing with my work, my phone rang.
I looked at it and the number looked a bit familiar, but I couldn't really recall where I had seen it before.
"Lydia is in my hands now."
That familiar voice rang out again on the other end of the line, it was Claire's real father Peter!
Hearing his voice, my guilt reappeared in my heart, and I couldn't help but think of the last time Lydia was covered in blood, and of our child.
"The last time your son was a lesson!" The caller continued to remind me viciously.
Was it really necessary to hand over the core documents of the Carter Group this time? I began to hesitate in my mind again.
Before I could even think about it, Peter hung up the phone.
I didn't think that I had sent so many people to go to great lengths to protect Lydia, but in the end I still let him find a loophole to kidnap Lydia away.
Now there is no more time to scold the gang of rice buckets, because I know that the one talking to me on the other end of the phone, can not be called a person, he is a beast, even his own daughter are willing to let others gang rape, so this time I dare not use Lydia's life to bet with him.
I quickly went to the office to get the required documents, I came to the parking lot, looking at so many cars in the underground parking lot, I finally chose a convertible car that can show my sincerity, and drove to the agreed location by myself.
Ever since I filed for divorce from Claire and regained possession of Lydia, I have deeply believed that I am God's favorite, and I hope that this time, God will bless me as much as before.
There was no one in the agreed location, but Peter knew exactly where I was going, either he had installed a location system in my phone or he was watching me from a distance.
As soon as he started ordering me to show him the documents, I knew he was hiding not far from me, watching my every move.
For the sake of Lydia's safety, I was even more afraid to do anything rash and could only follow his instructions step by step.
Finally, he let me put the file on top of the trash can, my whole body breathed a sigh of relief, soon I will be able to see Lydia, the love of my life will be able to return to my side.
By then, all misunderstandings would be explained and Lydia wouldn't have to spend every day in tears.
Just a few seconds after I put the file down, a group of black-clad men rushed out from around me. They split into two groups with clear goals, one of them rushed to the trash can and took the file, while the rest rushed to me and started punching and kicking me.
While taking care of Lydia and thinking about the stack of papers, I couldn't spare my mind to protect myself and took a few punches from them.
It was at this point that I realized that God had not helped me, that it was all a trap by Peter, that maybe he really did have Lydia, that maybe he hadn't kidnapped Lydia at all, but had just taken me by the scruff of the neck and tricked me.
After a few moments of fighting with the men in black, they were fought off by me.
This is when I had time to get out my phone and contact Charles to investigate Lydia's whereabouts.
"Have someone from the neighborhood go to Green's house to investigate Lydia's whereabouts." I spoke my instructions briefly.
Charles didn't dare delay and called me back three minutes later, telling me that after checking the surveillance at Green's house, he found that Lydia had gone out in the morning and that the group of rice bucket bodyguards hadn't even noticed Lydia's whereabouts and still thought Lydia was at home until now.
I instructed Charles to get rid of the group and picked up the phone to call Locke.
"Peter kidnapped Lydia, but this matter can not alert the police, only you can help me to find her whereabouts."
This time, my tone is very serious, Locke should also realize the seriousness of the matter, and did not make fun of me as usual, hurriedly answered a "yes" and hung up the phone.
I was waiting anxiously for Locke's message in the suburban garden while looking around for clues about Peter's whereabouts.
Just then, I saw a tire tracks on the road to the west, I touched it, some black powder on my fingers, I felt that it should be left by the car just left.
At that moment I jumped into my car and accelerated to the west, hoping to catch up with Peter and find Lydia.
Ivan's POV
According to what I know about Connor, he had a hard time getting back together with Lydia, so he would not just break up with Lydia without even explaining why.
I knew he was worried that Claire's group would harm Lydia when he returned to London, so he had to break up with Lydia without saying a word.
I have to say, he is really a very cautious person.
Out of the same concern as him, I quietly installed a location system in Lydia's phone when I went to visit her.
Yes, no one knows that besides being a college student, I am also an internationally known hacker, and there is hardly any system in my hands that cannot be deciphered.
Every few days I would turn on my computer to observe Lydia's whereabouts in case something bad happened to her.
On this day, I turned on my computer as usual and found that Lydia's location was abnormal, she was not at home but in an unfamiliar place.
I hurriedly opened the map to search for that location. There was no specific location shown on the map either, which made me feel worried.
I had to take my computer with me and hurriedly hailed a cab to the vicinity of the location.
It was a dilapidated house that looked as if no one had lived there for a long time.
I gingerly pushed open the door and there was no one inside!
I was confident that the program I had written did not have any loopholes that could have misdirected me to such a place. Since it's not above ground, it must be underground!
As long as someone is there, this place must be able to search for clues about the cell phone network. After thinking about this, I left the house, found a hidden place to take out the computer, and began to enter the program I had designed.
Soon, I searched for several cell phone network signals here, and there was a camera and computer network.
I entered the computer network and found that it was a dark network for sex slave trafficking. I had a feeling things might get a little tricky and decided to crack the camera to see what was going on before I made my next move.
I hit the keyboard quickly and the webcam was quickly cracked and the computer came up with the image from the webcam.
Lydia was tied up and left on the floor, her eyes still blindfolded, unable to see any expression.
I carefully turned the camera and saw several burly men inside, one of whom was holding a camera on Lydia.
They were auctioning Lydia live! I understood at once.
I couldn't wait any longer, no matter what method I used, I had to hurry to get Lydia out, because once Lydia was not auctioned off, she would be killed here, which is the rule of all underground auction houses.
The situation is urgent, I put the computer on the stone, leaving traces of their existence, then immediately returned to the small house to look for access to the underground, and finally in the corner of the house let me find the mechanism.
I found a wooden stick in the house, opened the mechanism gently, took the stick with me, held my breath and walked down, hoping that those people would not find me.
Just around the bend of the stairs, there were two black-clad men resembling thugs standing on either side, who should have been sent to look out.
I quietly walked up to them and knocked the black man on the left out, but I didn't expect to let the black man on the right discover my presence.
I saw him swing a fist at my face. I just reached out to block it, but I didn't expect his other hand to hit me straight in the stomach, while extending his right foot and tripping me up.
Immediately after that, he twisted my hands backwards and escorted me to the place where the camera was shooting.
I didn't think I would be knocked down just at the door, I was so impulsive.
I blamed myself in my mind while thinking of a way to get out.
"Boss, this kid broke in and knocked out one of the brothers." The man in black reported towards a man with a sinister expression.
The man paced in front of me with his hands behind his back and lifted his foot and stomped on my face hard: "I think he came to rescue this stupid girl, tie her up and dismember her live later for some reward."
Hearing his words, I knew that if I didn't find a way out, my life would soon come to an end.
"Don't get me wrong, I was just live exploring and accidentally barged in." I said an excuse that even I didn't believe, trying to stall for a little time.
Lydia, who was off to the side, heard my voice and exclaimed straight away, "Ivan!
The sinister man clicked his tongue and his voice was as chilling as a saw: "How else are you going to weasel your way out of this?"
I knew there was no way to muddle through, closed my eyes and laughed softly, ready to accept what fate had in store for me.
Did I hate Lydia at this moment? Not really, I was willing to sacrifice myself to save her, all I hated was my impulsiveness and incompetence.
The man in black tied me up and then casually threw me into a corner and left me alone, turning his head to the live auction of Lydia.
"$10,000 a time!" The man in black shouted out the price of the auction to the camera side.
"This chick has a great body, it's worth it even if you buy it for $15,000 to go home!" Another man in black said as he walked over to Lydia and reached out and grabbed her breasts.
I looked at them like this, anger from the heart rubbed up.
No, I had already put myself and Lydia in this predicament because I was led by emotion, and I couldn't make the same mistake again now.
I kept telling myself to calm down, and only then could I think of a way to get Lydia out of the situation.
I remembered that my phone was still in my back pocket, which I hadn't been aware of before because I was nervous, and kept moving myself around to try to get it out.
Just as I was sweating profusely, I finally reached my phone.
I judged the front and back of the phone by touch, then tried to send the location by virtue of my familiarity with it, and put the phone back on the far side with difficulty.
Although I did not really know who the message was sent to, I hoped that the person who received it would notice the difference and hurry over. Even if there was no intention to save Lydia and me, as long as they came over, we had hope of escape!
