Chapter 316 Moved and Relieved
Chapter 316 Moved and Relieved
Scarlett's heart skipped a beat, then she heard Caspian continue.
"Ulysses had a mental breakdown, attacked people with a knife, and ended up jumping from upstairs. He's in the hospital now, and the chances of him waking up are very slim."
Scarlett's mind went completely blank. It took her a while to recover. They had just had lunch together at noon, and now he was lying in the hospital unable to wake up.
"This happened so suddenly. I just heard about it myself and was shocked, but there's nothing I can do."
Scarlett understood what he meant by "nothing I can do." She didn't make any requests, just said to Caspian.
"Thanks for telling me. I won't bother you anymore."
"If you want to visit him, I'd advise you not to go for now. The Mitchell family has people watching." Caspian still gave her a subtle warning.
Scarlett thanked him, hung up, and clutched her phone, her mind in chaos.
Ulysses had a mental breakdown, tried to attack someone with a knife and then jumped from a building?
Why didn't it happen earlier or later, but right after meeting with her? This didn't seem simple at all.
Caspian's words just now had hinted that the Mitchell family had people watching.
So Indigo must have found out about Ulysses having lunch with her and went after him. Otherwise, Chase and the others wouldn't have been attacked.
Indigo knew Ulysses had betrayed him, so he wanted him dead.
After sorting through her thoughts, she called Ambrose. When the call connected, Ambrose had also received news about Ulysses's incident.
And regarding that evidence, when Xander sent people back to get it, the cabinet was empty. The evidence had vanished without a trace.
Forget about the missing evidence—even Ulysses might lose his life. Although he couldn't wake up, at least there was a slim chance. But if Indigo wanted him dead, even that slim chance would be gone.
Scarlett couldn't let Ulysses end up like this just because he helped her.
She got up and went upstairs to find Ambrose, wanting to discuss with him how to save Ulysses.
But when she got to his office, he was still in a meeting. Since it was almost time for school to end, she decided to pick up the kids first and then talk to him about it.
When picking up the kids, Xander drove. She asked.
"Xander, is Chase badly hurt?"
"Don't worry, Ms. Mellon. Chase only has minor injuries, nothing serious."
"What exactly happened during the ambush?"
Xander: "Chase and I went to get the evidence together. When we were almost there, several people ambushed us. They had many people, and we only had two, so we were outnumbered."
"Under those circumstances, we couldn't get the evidence. By the time our people arrived and got to the cabinet, it was already empty."
This confirmed everything she had imagined was true. Indigo had indeed found out about Ulysses's actions and wanted to silence him.
"Don't worry, Ms. Mellon. After Mr. Boleyn learned about Ulysses, he secretly sent people to protect him. Mr. Boleyn's plan is to get him out and take him abroad for treatment, to repay the favor from this time."
Scarlett had planned to discuss it with him, but he had already made arrangements. He did this to ease her mind and reduce her guilt.
She was both touched and relieved.
"The Mitchell family must be watching closely. Getting Ulysses out won't be easy."
"We have a plan for this. Don't worry."
Scarlett felt relieved, hoping Ulysses could still be saved. Otherwise, she would feel guilty.
At the school gate, Scarlett picked up the two kids and walked to the car.
"Scarlett, what are we eating tonight?" Hayden asked as soon as he got in the car.
"What do you want to eat?" she asked.
"I want to eat out, but Dad will probably come home late."
Scarlett thought that they hadn't eaten out for a while, and the kids probably wanted to eat out, so she agreed to take them.
While in the car, Scarlett sent Ambrose a message asking what time he could get off work, as the kids wanted to have dinner with him.
Ambrose didn't reply right away—he must be busy. She didn't keep checking for a response and instead took the two kids to a restaurant.
They went to a children's restaurant, a new one this time, with complete facilities.
Besides eating, they could also play.
When they entered the restaurant, there were very few customers inside. It must be because it wasn't quite dinnertime yet. After Scarlett ordered, she let the two kids play first, and they would eat after they had their fill of fun.
While they played, she sat nearby watching them, occasionally checking her phone to reply to friends on WhatsApp.
Briar was chatting with her about random things, and the conversation got pretty lively. Scarlett's attention shifted to her phone.
Then she heard the children shouting. She looked up and saw several men carrying Yara rushing toward the door.
Her blood seemed to freeze, but by reflex, before her mind could catch up with her body, she had already rushed over.
"Let go of my daughter!" she shouted as she chased after them.
"Mommy!" Yara screamed.
By the time Scarlett chased after them, they had already left the restaurant. Meanwhile, someone was trying to grab Hayden too.
But Hayden had learned martial arts. His little legs ran fast, and those people couldn't catch him. Seeing this, Scarlett ran over to protect Hayden.
Seeing the situation, those people didn't stick around and quickly fled.
Scarlett pulled Hayden along and chased them out the door.
Xander was nearby. Hearing Scarlett's shouts, he came out and saw several people carrying Yara running some distance away. He quickly gave chase.
The restaurant was in a mall. Although the people carrying the child ran fast, Xander was agile and quick.
But unfortunately, there were many of them. They surrounded Xander and blocked him. The mother and son who had chased out didn't worry about Xander and kept running after Yara.
They chased all the way out of the mall, but the other side was too fast. Scarlett saw Yara being put into a van.
Scarlett held Hayden's hand, anxious and frantic. There were no taxis around at that moment, and she couldn't catch up. She was so worried she was about to cry.
"Scarlett, call Dad," Hayden quickly reminded her.
Only then did Scarlett react. She quickly took out her phone and called Ambrose. As soon as the call connected, she said incoherently through tears.
"Ambrose, someone took Yara. I couldn't catch up. What do I do?"
She couldn't imagine what those people would do after taking Yara. If it was the Mitchell family who took her, who knows how they might hurt Yara.
Scarlett felt ice-cold all over.
Ambrose didn't expect something like this to happen either. After two seconds of silence, he quickly tried to calm her down.
"Don't panic. I'm coming right now. Where are you?"
Scarlett told him her location and also gave him the license plate number she had written down.
"Where's Xander?" Ambrose asked. At the same time, she could hear him walking.
Scarlett turned around. At that moment, Xander was dragging two people he had caught toward her. "Xander is dealing with the accomplices who took Yara. He caught two people."
"Our people will be there soon. You take Hayden and go home in the bodyguard's car. Wait at home. I'll rescue the child."
"Dad, Yara has my tracking device on her. Check the tracker," Hayden suddenly leaned over and said.
Hayden had always carried a tracking device that Ambrose had specially made. It was very small and fitted inside a button. That button should be on Yara's clothes.
