Chapter 314 So Unreserved Even Outside

Chapter 314 So Unreserved Even Outside

Scarlett fell silent.

Ambrose saw Ulysses serving her food?

But he only did it once!

She wanted to explain, but then felt that explaining would only give him more ammunition to use against her later, so she decided to keep quiet.

When Scarlett didn't respond, Ambrose got upset and pressed on, "What? does his food taste better?"

She put down her knife and fork, pretending to look stern, "Ambrose, do you actually intend to eat, or not?"

Caught off guard by her flash of anger, Ambrose faltered. The retort he had readied died in his throat. Deflated, he lowered his head and began to eat in a subdued, brooding silence.

Maybe it was Ambrose's wounded expression, but Scarlett didn't want to see him like this, so she finally spoke up to explain.

"He only served me food once at the beginning, and I had to accept it. After I said something, he stopped." As she spoke, she reached over and served him some of his favorite dishes, putting them in his bowl.

"His gesture was just politeness to me, nothing personal about it."

"If I'm interested in someone, I'll respond in kind, like I'm doing now by serving you food."

The implication was clear that her serving him food now was her way of responding to his feelings.

After all, she hadn't responded to Ulysses.

Ambrose felt better and gave her a deep look. Thinking it over, their meal together hadn't crossed any lines, he'd watched the whole time. But somehow, it still bothered him.

He felt helpless about it, but he couldn't help how he felt!

"Still mad?" Scarlett teased, leaning forward to playfully pinch his cheek.

He suddenly stood up, leaned over, and planted a firm kiss on her lips, his way of responding.

Scarlett's face turned red. His boldness in such a public setting was startling.

But she felt sweet inside, his jealousy showed how much he really liked her.

Thinking about this, she looked away, hiding a faint, knowing smile.

After they finished lunch happily, they walked out of the private room one after the other. On the way, they ran into the owner of the restaurant, a woman who was quite familiar with Ambrose. Upon seeing Scarlett, she gestured for them to wait, explaining that she had prepared a gift of royal jelly for her.

The restaurant owner looked at Scarlett, "Ms. Mellon, the kitchen just made some excellent royal jelly. Please, take some home. It is rare to find quality this high, and it is wonderful for one's health."

Scarlett naturally understood the owner was doing this for Ambrose's sake. If she refused, it would seem petty, so she said, "Then I'll take your advice, thank you."

"I like this generous personality of yours. Mr. Boleyn has found a treasure."

The owner was smooth and knew how to talk, praising both of them at once.

As the three engaged in light conversation, a group approached from around the corner, calling out to the restaurant owner.

She turned around, smiling in response. While the owner was talking to them, Scarlett spotted Felicity.

Felicity was beside a man who Scarlett vaguely recognized - seemed to be a famous director.

This director, Nash Coleman, was looking over. Before she could avert her eyes, she heard him say.

"Excuse me, but would you be interested in acting? I am currently casting the lead for my next film, and your presence is perfect." Nash got straight to the point.

He'd seen her just now and immediately knew that this was the leading lady quality he was looking for. That's why he'd called them over.

Scarlett was momentarily stunned. Recovering quickly, she politely smiled and declined.

"I appreciate the offer, but I have no experience in acting."

"That's fine, just standing there, you have the presence of a leading lady." Nash persisted.

Ambrose's expression immediately turned cold. The restaurant owner noticed and quickly jumped in with a smile.

"Mr. Coleman, casting for a new film?"

"Yes, I'm looking everywhere for the lead. What luck, this lady perfectly fits my new film's leading lady."

The restaurant owner smiled and said, "This is Mr. Boleyn's girlfriend."

This was her way of telling him to back off, she wouldn't agree to act.

"Mr. Boleyn, hello, I'm Nash Coleman." Nash introduced himself first.

Ambrose looked up and, seeing him, gave a polite nod.

Nash didn't mind Ambrose's attitude. He knew people with status and position were like this. He wanted Scarlett, so he stated his intention directly.

Ambrose said coolly, "My girlfriend just said she's not interested."

Nash didn't take offense, just expressed his regret.

"Mr. Boleyn, Ms. Mellon, what a coincidence." Felicity suddenly stepped forward, smiling.

Scarlett met her gaze with cold indifference and remained silent. Ambrose did not even acknowledge her presence.

Felicity didn't seem to mind and continued on her own, "After the incident at Celestial University, I was quite worried that Ms. Mellon might harbor some misunderstanding toward Mr. Boleyn on my account. Seeing you together now, I can finally rest easy."

Just then, a server came over with the royal jelly and handed it to the restaurant owner, who quickly passed it to Scarlett.

"Ms. Mellon, take this. Just heat it up when you get home and you can eat it."

Scarlett thanked her with genuine warmth, then turned to Ambrose, suggesting it was time to leave.

The interruption effectively dismantled Felicity’s staged performance. Although everyone present was surprised by how similar she and Scarlett looked when standing together, the couple’s total dismissal of Felicity made her attempts at familiarity appear pathetic.

Felicity stood there, watching their backs as they left hand in hand, her fingers digging into her palms. They were ignoring her to this extent.

The restaurant owner left shortly after. Nash and his group stood there, no one moving. Nash stared at Scarlett's retreating figure with deep regret.

Then something occurred to him. He turned to look at Felicity and asked, "What's your connection to Mr. Boleyn?"

Felicity had been staring at where their hands were joined. His voice pulled her back, and she answered respectfully, "Mr. Boleyn saved me once, Mr. Coleman. Perhaps it was because I resemble Ms. Mellon so closely."

This was said ambiguously. Nash questioned her.

"The woman with him is his real girlfriend? He saved you because you look like his girlfriend?"

Felicity actually admitted it, "That's right. Because I look like her, he cares about me by extension. But who can guarantee they'll last forever, right, Mr. Coleman?"

Nash nodded thoughtfully. In his experience, the companions of men like Ambrose often had an expiration date.

He re-evaluated Felicity. She was only twenty; while she lacked the commanding presence of the woman who had just left, she possessed a certain raw potential.

Men all like young, fresh women.

"Mr. Coleman," Felicity’s agent whispered, leaning in close. "I’ve heard that woman is the daughter of the former mayor—already married with a child."

Nash nodded.

After Scarlett and Ambrose got in the car, she was still thinking about Felicity's performance earlier.

Perhaps she'd been quiet too long. Ambrose squeezed her hand, shifting his attention from his tablet to her. "Why so quiet?"

Scarlett looked up, her expression serious. "The director’s sudden offer was strange enough, but Felicity’s timing was far too precise. She certainly knows how to orchestrate a scene."
