Chapter 308 Asking Clearly About the Opposite Sex Around You Because You Care

Chapter 308 Asking Clearly About the Opposite Sex Around You Because You Care

Ryder reported honestly, "Mr. Ambrose Boleyn, Mr. Bodhi Boleyn hasn't shown anything unusual at the company. He only attends business meetings and maintains no close connections with department executives."

So clean.

Actually, the cleaner it was, the more suspicious it seemed. After all, given Bodhi's personality, he didn't like work. Making him work would surely provoke some rebellious behavior, but there was none.

"I understand. Arrange for someone to observe him without being noticed."
After Ambrose hung up, Ruben's call came in at just the right time. He originally wanted to invite him out for drinks, but learned he was at the hospital.

Ruben inquired solicitously, and once it was clear that it was nothing major, the discussion shifted to the central matter.
"About the Mitchell Family, have you figured out how to make your move?"

"I'll begin with Octavia's situation, but I currently don't have strong proof of Indigo's misconduct. I'm working to gather it, though it's difficult."
Ruben was silent for a few seconds, then said, "Indigo just got promoted, so we can't catch him doing anything wrong now. We can only work with past incidents. I'll help you look into it."

"Ruben, don't get involved in this. Your position is special. Don't make any rash moves for now." Ambrose didn't want to drag Ruben into this. The Lawson family couldn't be touched for now.

"Alright. Is your company okay?"

Ruben shifted the topic to the Boleyn Group. The Boleyn Group had been investigated today, and the news was spreading like wildfire. Today, the Boleyn Group's stock price had dropped quite a bit.

"It's all right, merely a standard question. No need to be concerned."
Ambrose's confident tone put Ruben's concerns to rest.

"Okay, I can't help with other things, but I'll definitely help you handle Octavia's matter."

After conversing for some time, they hung up.
Ambrose walked into the hospital room, lightening his steps. He walked to Scarlett's bedside, and seeing she was fine, he got into the single bed nearby.

The next day, Ambrose was woken up by Scarlett's phone. Scarlett woke up as well. She was about to reach for her phone when Ambrose got to it first.

The caller ID shown on the display caused him to furrow his brow a little, after which he turned his gaze toward Scarlett.
"It's Finnian calling."

Finnian usually didn't call her this early. There must be something going on. She reached out her hand.

Ambrose handed it over expressionlessly, listening to Scarlett talk on the phone while slowly getting out of bed.

"Finnian."

"I'm alright—I simply fractured my leg. There are no other serious issues."
From Scarlett's conversation, Ambrose could tell that Finnian had learned about her injury and was calling to check on her.

Scarlett kept the conversation brief and hung up after saying just a little.
Putting down the phone, she looked up at him. Seeing no expression on his face, she couldn't tell if he minded, so she took the initiative to explain.

"Finnian just found out that I was injured and rang up to inquire about it."
"I know," he said, acting like he didn't care while tidying the thin blanket.

But Scarlett could tell he did care, so to comfort him, she explained, "You don't need to mind him. My relationship with him is just friendship."

Ambrose turned to look at her. "That's how you see your relationship with him, but he doesn't see it that way. Like me, he's liked you since college. He came back to the country when he learned you got divorced, which shows he hasn't given up on you."

It was rare for Ambrose to say so much at once. Scarlett went from stunned to smiling, then reached out her hands, wanting him to hold her.

He put down what he was doing, walked up to her, and held her hand. Scarlett threw herself into his arms.

"I once claimed that his emotions were genuine, but I've recently realized that your affection for me is even more so."
She lifted her head and stared straight at him. "I didn't accept Finnian even when I found his feelings pure. Now that I know someone even better than him, no one can compare to you in my heart."

Scarlett felt that men needed to be coaxed, and Ambrose especially loved her sweet words. Plus, all her sweet words were sincere.

He looked at her for a long time, then asked about something that had been bothering him, "If that's the case, then why did you let him hug you at the school reunion?"

Scarlett grinned and reached for his face. "Ambrose, you have a real fondness for jealousy."
"Finnian did that to help me save face. He saw you being close with Felicity and felt indignant for me, so he made that move."

Ambrose's expression improved slightly, but being accused of being close with someone, he defended himself.

"I was definitely at a distance. What makes you think I was near?"
Bringing this up, Scarlett was also a bit unhappy and pouted. "A man and woman standing together always looks intimate."

"And she's a woman with bad intentions."

Ambrose's irritation faded. He pressed a kiss to her brow. "Back then, I believed you were indifferent."
Scarlett still felt bothered about the night Ambrose saved Felicity. She asked.

"That night you saved her, was it really not because she looks like me that you stepped in?"

Ambrose responded to this matter without pausing to think.
"It was precisely because that face looks like you. If I had let Tobias succeed, it would be like he succeeded with you too. I couldn't tolerate it."

Upon hearing that, Scarlett was at a loss for words.
That night he saved Felicity, it was still because of her.

Her heart felt relieved, but thinking about how Felicity might use that face to ask Ambrose for help in the future made her feel disgusted.

"Ambrose, no matter how much her face looks like mine, she's not me. If she does something again in the future, are you going to help her too?"

"What's on your mind?" Ambrose asked with a soft laugh.
Scarlett reached out to hug him, making her position clear.

"Even though that face looks a lot like mine, she's not me. I don't want you to soften and help her every time she appears in the future."

"I won't. It's just that I couldn't tolerate what Tobias did to youI only used that moment to seek vengeance on your behalf."

Only then did Scarlett breathe a sigh of relief. She really didn't like having a woman who looked so much like her hanging around him. Who knew, maybe one day if he got drunk, someone might take advantage of the situation, and then it would be too late.

"Then what about Finnian in the future?" Ambrose looked at her and asked quietly.
She glanced at him and furrowed her brow. "Are you comparing Felicity to Finnian?"

Ambrose sighed, "There's no comparison between the two, but he's also a pursuer around you."

Scarlett didn't know how to explain. Since Ambrose brought it up, he clearly minded. But asking her to have no contact with Finnian at all was impossible.

"Finnian really helped me a lot before. Now he's already stepped back to just being a friend. If you still mind, I can see him less, but asking us to have no contact at all is unrealistic."

"When you see him in the future, I need to be there too." Ambrose took a step back.

Scarlett felt this wasn't a problem and nodded, but she wasn't sure about his attitude toward Felicity, so she asked.

"So, how will you handle it if Felicity comes to find you later on?"
"Am I someone just anyone can see?" He said dismissively.

Upon hearing that, Scarlett grinned. "That's perfect."
Ambrose was satisfied with Scarlett's concern. Having laid out all the opposite-sex people around each of them, they had resolved a knot in their hearts.
