Chapter 304 Prove His Affection with Actions
Chapter 304 Prove His Affection with Actions
"I'll carry you to the lounge to get some sleep," Ambrose said softly and gently.
Scarlett leaned softly against his chest, instinctively wrapping her arms around his neck. She caught the sharp scent of alcohol mixed with his natural woody fragrance, and it made her feel safe.
"Then stay with me for a bit," she said sweetly.
Ambrose had never seen Scarlett like this, soft and sweet like a cat. He lowered his head and kissed the corner of her lips.
"Don't tempt me, or you'll end up crying later."
Her eyes sparkled as she deliberately leaned close to his ear and whispered, "Why does your mind always go there? I just want you to sleep with me, nothing more."
They had already entered the lounge. He glanced at her sideways and said casually, "You only want to make love with someone you like. Otherwise, it wouldn't be normal."
Scarlett had never experienced this before and didn't know if other couples were like this. With Wesley, it wasn't like this at all. Even during their honeymoon phase, they just hugged, and they rarely even kissed.
But with Ambrose, it was completely different. He looked at her as if she were a prize he couldn't wait to claim whenever he saw her.
She found herself leaning into the sensation, unexpectedly thrilled.
"Ambrose, will you always like me?" She asked, looking at him with wide, bright eyes.
Ambrose lowered her onto the mattress, a playful, knowing glint in his eyes. "I'll show you with actions!"
He leaned down and kissed her. Soon, she was pinned beneath him, their kiss deepened, breath and heat tangling in the heavy air.
Scarlett could taste the sharp alcohol in his mouth, mixed with his strong personal scent.
Within moments, they were both breathing heavily. When he moved his lips away, Scarlett gasped and said, "My hand is still sore!"
Ambrose coaxed, "This time you won't need your hand."
Scarlett didn't understand what he meant, but he didn't give her time to figure it out. He lowered his head and kissed her again, his fierce kiss quickly pulling her thoughts back.
In his kiss, Scarlett let go of her thoughts and followed his lead to experience the most wonderful thing.
After it was over, Scarlett still hadn't recovered. That feeling lingered with her—something she'd never experienced before.
Ambrose carried her to clean up. After washing, he held her and looked at her expression. "Still questioning my feelings for you?"
Wrapped in his arms, Scarlett realized his intensity was a direct response to her earlier provocation.
Her arms still around his neck, she said softly, "I was just asking casually. Why are you so worked up?"
A heavy silence settled over Ambrose as he processed her words.
As her breathing steadied, a lingering ache settled in her limbs. Looking down, she saw they were red. She looked up and glared at him, her eyes seeming to say, "Look what you've done."
"They're a bit red. I'll put some medicine on them later." He had noticed her legs were red when he was washing her earlier.
"Ambrose, I don't think we can keep this up. We need to take it slow to make it last. You're going to burn yourself out before your time at this rate."
"I was single for so long—you have to count that too."
Scarlett had no response to that. Faced with his shameless logic, she just let it go. Then she said, "I got a call from my dad earlier. He said he wants to see me."
Ambrose calmed down. "Your dad must have heard about the Reynolds Family and the Mitchell Family situation."
Talking about this reminded Scarlett to ask, "The Reynolds Family—the authorities are investigating them now, right?"
"Yes, they're investigating. But the Mitchell Family will be investigated soon too. The Mitchell Family is desperate now and starting to cause trouble."
Sensing the underlying threat, Scarlett’s voice sharpened with concern, "Has the Mitchell Family started going after the Boleyn Group?"
Ambrose didn't plan to hide it from her and nodded. "The authorities are scheduled to audit the Boleyn Group tomorrow. But don't worry, the Boleyn Group has always done business properly. They won't find anything."
Scarlett felt anxious. His Boleyn Group naturally had no problems, but who could know if past business dealings were completely clean? And if the Mitchell Family wanted to cause trouble, they could create problems even where none existed.
"Why didn't you tell me about this?"
Ambrose stroked her hair, soothing her gently. "I only got the news this morning. Don't worry, I've prepared for everything."
"Octavia can't escape what she did, so naturally Indigo wants to drag me down with her."
Scarlett thought for a moment. She remembered that Ulysses had said he would help her collect evidence. Since returning from Luminous City that time, she had never contacted him and didn't know if he had any evidence against Indigo.
Thinking of this, she looked at Ambrose and said, "I need to tell you something. You can't get mad at me."
Ambrose raised an eyebrow. "Go ahead."
After a moment of silence, she spoke up.
"Remember when I was kidnapped in Luminous City?"
His expression immediately darkened. Her sudden mention of this must mean there was some connection.
"Actually, the person who took me later was Ulysses."
"What?" As anger flashed across Ambrose's face, Scarlett quickly grabbed his face to explain.
"Don't be angry. He didn't do anything to me, really. When I said someone else had touched me, I was lying. I just wanted you to care about it so you'd break up with me."
Hearing the first part, he felt relieved, but at the second part, his expression darkened again.
Scarlett quickly tried to soothe him. "But I don't think that way anymore." After saying this, she lifted her head to kiss him, trying to calm his anger.
Sure enough, his expression improved slightly as he stared at her. "Why did he kidnap you?"
"The evidence of Octavia setting me up four years ago—he gave it to me." As she finished speaking, his expression turned cold again.
Ignoring his dark look, Scarlett pressed on.
"He gave me the evidence without any conditions, just to make up for what he did wrong before. Since he gave it to me, why wouldn't I take it? Don't you think?"
Ambrose stared at her, his eyes carrying a sinister look that made her a bit worried.
"Which side of him was I dealing with at the time?"
"His first personality." After saying this, she felt she should add some explanation.
"Before, his second personality would appear. He developed that second personality to get close to Indigo, so it's normal for his first personality to hate Indigo."
Ambrose understood. Ulysses's first personality liked Scarlett, so he was now his first personality.
Dealing with his erratic behavior was becoming exhausting.
"Why are you suddenly telling me all this?" Ambrose grew wary; Scarlett never broached a subject without a calculated purpose.
"He said he could collect evidence against Indigo. I was thinking, should I contact him to see what he's found?"
"You can't contact him again." Ambrose immediately rejected the idea. He couldn't let Scarlett continue having contact with a mentally ill person who liked her. It was too dangerous.
"I know what you're worried about. Don't worry, I'll just ask him. After all, he also hates Indigo and her Family. Isn't it said that the enemy of your enemy is your friend?"
