Chapter 300 Family of Four Reunited
Chapter 300 Family of Four Reunited
At this critical moment, Octavia's incident had dragged the entire Mitchell Family into it, and Indigo was panicking.
Phaedra had no choice but to turn to her father, Hawk.
Hawk had just dealt with Octavia's last incident, and to have history repeat itself in less than a month.
Hawk got angry. "I told you repeatedly not to provoke the Boleyns. Octavia refused to listen. If she’s so determined to throw her life away, I couldn't save her even if I wanted to."
On the other end of the line, Phaedra was a wreck, her voice trembling through tears.
"Dad, please, she’s my only daughter, help her just this once. I promise, as soon as this is over, I'll send her abroad, and she'll never set foot back here again."
"The evidence is solid. No amount of influence can make this go away, there's nothing I can do. I can't handle this."
"Dad, if you don't help, even Indigo will be dragged down with her. I heard the authorities want to investigate Indigo. Once they start investigating, even if there's nothing wrong, the Mellons will make sure they find something to keep Indigo locked up."
Hawk was silent for a moment. "There's nothing I can do directly. If he’s called in, tell him to weigh every word carefully. I told him from the start not to be so aggressive, not to rush things, or it wouldn't be worth it. Now look what happened - he has no one to blame but himself."
"I'm likely under scrutiny myself now. How can I help you? My only move is to reach out to the Reynolds family and see where they stand. If they don't want to help, there's nothing more I can do."
After hanging up, Hawk went straight to the Reynolds Family, only to find them in a state of equal chaos over Tobias's situation. They had wanted to use their leverage over Ambrose's project as a bargaining chip, but an anonymous power had been shielding Ambrose, leaving the Reynolds family with no choice but to appeal to their highest-ranking contacts.
Evidence of Tobias's persecution of young women over the years had reached the senior officials, who took the matter very seriously. Owen's faction seized the opportunity, aggressively pushing the investigation up the chain of command. In just one week, Owen's faction had gotten it escalated.
A special task force was dispatched to investigate the conduct of all officials involved.
They started with the Reynolds Family. The Reynolds Family had always had backing from someone higher up, and that person initially wanted to protect them, but because Tobias had harmed so many women over the years, they could only abandon the Reynolds Family to protect themselves.
Ambrose finished his work in Seaside City. The final inspection had gone smoothly, with only minor notes for improvement, so the crisis that had threatened his career was officially over.
Once things were resolved, he immediately rushed back to Silverlight City. He arrived in the evening, and as soon as he got off the plane, he headed straight to Lakeside Garden.
He arrived at Lakeside Garden at eight o'clock. Scarlett knew Ambrose would be back and had specifically asked Rhea to prepare two extra dishes, even stepping into the kitchen herself to cook one of his favorite dishes.
Usually, Scarlett and the kids ate dinner at six-thirty, but tonight, they waited.
As soon as Ambrose walked in, the two little ones happily ran toward him. Yara reached him first, and Ambrose put down his suitcase at the door and crouched down to catch her.
The sweet, familiar scent of his daughter instantly washed away the exhaustion of the past weeks. It was so good to be home.
Hayden was more reserved and didn't rush over as enthusiastically as Yara. He just looked up and called out.
"Daddy."
After putting Yara down, Ambrose hugged him too. Hayden was thrilled.
After hugging the two kids, Ambrose changed his shoes and looked at Scarlett standing in the living room watching him. He suddenly felt like he hadn't seen her in forever.
He walked up to her. "You get a hug too."
Without waiting for Scarlett to agree, he pulled her into his arms. The faint fragrance from her body filled his nose.
The longing he'd felt these past days became even more intense with her scent. He tightened his arms.
He wanted to kiss her then and there, but with the kids watching, he forced himself to stay composed.
"Ambrose and Mommy made up, so we can all live together now!" Yara chirped, clapping her little hands happily.
Hayden just smiled at his parents. "Don't fight anymore. When you two fight, Yara and I really worry ourselves sick."
Both Ambrose and Scarlett couldn't help but laugh.
At the dinner table, there was nothing but happy laughter. The warm scene of the Family so perfect it even brought a sentimental sigh to Rhea’s lips as she watched from the kitchen.
How wonderful, they were finally reunited.
After dinner, the kids clung to Ambrose. Having been too busy with work in Seaside City to buy gifts, he made up for it by dedicating the entire evening to playing with them. Once they were tucked into bed, he returned to Scarlett's room.
Scarlett had just come out of the bathroom after showering when Ambrose pushed her onto the bed and kissed her desperate and passionate.
Scarlett didn't push him away. She wrapped her arms around his neck, meeting his intensity with her own.
At the end of the kiss, Ambrose lifted Scarlett's clothes. While asking, he focused on what he was doing.
"Did you miss me?"
Scarlett's slender fingers ran through his hair. She opened her lips in discomfort. "Did you?"
Hearing this response, Ambrose chuckled softly. While he was away, she had been sweet and affectionate over the phone every day. Now that he was back and wanted to hear her true feelings, she wanted to hear his answer first. She really couldn't change that proud nature of hers.
"Sweetheart, looking at what I'm doing right now, do you think I missed you or not?"
With that, he bit her hard. A shiver ran through her, and she bit her lip. "Ambrose, stop," she breathed, trying to find her voice. "You haven’t even showered yet."
Hearing this, Ambrose realized she was right - he really hadn't showered. Given how much she liked being clean, there was no way she'd make love with him without him showering first.
He took a deep breath and lifted his head. "Sweetheart, let's shower together."
With that, he picked her up and headed to the bathroom.
Scarlett had just come out of the bathroom and quickly said, "I just showered. You go shower, I'll wait for you in bed."
"Shower again." As he spoke, he had already stepped into the bathroom and closed the door.
Scarlett really had no way to deal with him. As soon as they entered the bathroom, she got soaked, and he pressed against her and started kissing her.
Although Scarlett had decided to open her heart and accept Ambrose.
But thinking about last time, when her private parts had torn, she felt scared and quickly pushed him away.
"No, Ambrose, I can't."
He stopped immediately, looking at her with concern. "What's wrong?"
Her face was completely red, but the fear in her eyes couldn't be hidden. "It hurts," she admitted, her voice dropping to a whisper. "I haven't fully healed from last time."
Only then did Ambrose remember something. His heart tightened, and his voice shook. "Was it very serious last time?"
Scarlett nodded. "I almost needed stitches."
Ambrose cursed himself for being such a jerk, full of regret and heartache. "Do you blame me?"
Of course, Scarlett blamed him in her heart, but knowing all the things he had done for her, it didn't seem so important anymore.
"What's past is past, but you can't do this again. If there's a next time, I definitely won't forgive you." A small warning flashed across her face.
Ambrose held her gently. "Let me check, let me see if you've healed?"
