Chapter 57 She had passed the test

"Sir!" Felix shouted again.

This time, Celeste didn't try to stop Nathaniel.

She had already delayed as long as she could, hoping Sophia would pull through.

"What's so urgent?"

"Sir, the person who attacked the boss... it might be Mrs. Ford!"

Nathaniel's eyes narrowed, his expression darkening instantly.

A moment later, he squinted and said coldly, "You better be sure."

"There were fifty-three people on the yacht, ten staff, the boss had eight bodyguards, and there were thirty-seven guests, only eight of whom were women. Out of those, only three were around Scarlett's age, and Mrs. Ford is one of those three." Felix glanced toward the room, looking more serious, "At the time of the incident, Mrs. Ford was alone in the bathroom for twenty minutes."

Nathaniel's gaze deepened as he turned to another man.

"Harvey, do you agree?"

"I've been watching her. She's very cautious and physically strong, it's possible." Harvey's words were concise, supporting Felix's analysis as he turned and blew out a stream of smoke, "But if it's true, it's damn strange."

"Plus, the mini camera I was wearing caught a blurry image that, based on body shape, matches Mrs. Ford at least 60%," Felix added.

The room fell silent.

Nathaniel stared at the camera footage, his face growing increasingly grim!

On the freeze frame, the woman looked even more like Celeste than the Scarlett he remembered!

Thinking back to the previous meetings with Scarlett, Celeste had no alibi, and Scarlett's birthmark and eyes were also eerily familiar—could it really be her?!

"So she's a scam?" Harvey blurted out, "Mr. Ford, didn't you say she was gentle, courteous, a harmless girl? Turns out... a female assassin?"

"People are not always as they seem. Now that I think about it, it was too much of a coincidence." Felix analyzed carefully, relieved that Celeste hadn't harmed Nathaniel.

Only Nathaniel's expression was as grim as ice.

He clenched his eyes shut, a dangerous atmosphere enveloping him as the air seemed to freeze.

Harvey and Felix looked at each other, the latter speaking through clenched teeth.

"Sir, hesitation brings chaos! If Mrs. Ford really is the assassin, if she really is Scarlett, now's the perfect chance!"

With those words, Nathaniel finally opened his eyes!

He despised deception more than anything, and if Scarlett was involved in his parents' deaths, if it was Celeste... she would not be spared!

Nathaniel immediately turned and strode toward the room—

But just as he grabbed the doorknob, Felix's phone suddenly buzzed.

"What now?"

"Latest intel, the police have just located the killer, there was a conflict a few minutes ago, and the suspect is now fleeing towards South Sea Road..."

"Are you sure it's the killer?" Felix was visibly shocked.

The caller was adamant, "Absolutely, it's direct info from the police, don't you trust me? I'll get Mr. Ford, tell Mr. Ford, my info is rock-solid!"

The informant hung up the phone.

Nathaniel stopped in his tracks as he was about to leave the room.

His deep gaze locked on the door, he stood by the staircase, a mysterious glint shining in his eyes. He spoke in a low voice, "Keep me posted with any updates."

"But what's going on here? If Scarlett is on the run, then Mrs. Ford can't be Scarlett... Did we make a mistake?"

"That's possible," Harvey chimed in.

Looking up, they saw Nathaniel push open the door to the master bedroom, his face unreadable.

Felix thought for a moment, "What do you think Mr. Ford is feeling? Does he still trust Mrs. Ford?"

"Maybe."

Nathaniel's tall figure vanished from sight, and silence enveloped the space once again.

...

A slender figure was curled up on the bed.

The soft, yellow light cast a gentle glow on her clear face, half-hidden by the blanket.

Her long, dense eyelashes lay over her eyelids, like those of an angel in deep sleep.

"Mr. Ford, are you finished?" she murmured sleepily, half-awake, instinctively stretching out her arms.

Nathaniel entered quietly, looking completely composed.

She reassured me that for now, she had passed the test.

"Yeah." The news from the police was clear, Scarlett was on the run, and the realness of Celeste next to him was undeniable.

Nathaniel's hand glided over her body, resting on her ample hip.

This should confirm that Celeste and Scarlett were not the same person.

Yet, he couldn't shake off his doubts...

"Then, get some rest," Celeste suggested, gently touching his face. "You've had a long day too."

Nathaniel lifted her flushed face, their eyes meeting, hers bright and innocent.

The next moment, he kissed her passionately.

He kissed her deeply, claiming her rosy lips, drawing out her breath, his tongue coaxing hers to dance.

His hand cradled the back of her head, keeping her lips pressed to his. The other hand pulled her closer, pressing her tightly against him.

Celeste was overwhelmed by his possessive kiss. Her back was against the bed, her neck arched beautifully, and her fingers clutched at his shirt.

Her breathing quickened.

Nathaniel, propping himself up on his arms, continued to kiss her, as if trying to meld her into his being.

His hand wandered lower, slipping beneath her.

He needed to be sure Celeste was willing.

If it were Scarlett, to keep up her disguise, she would have cooperated like she did in the car!

But Celeste had mentioned she might be pregnant. If true, she would definitely resist!

"Celeste, give it to me!"

Nathaniel squinted, took himself in hand, and positioned himself at her moist entrance...
