Chapter 51 His confidence would be his downfall!
Time just flew by, and before they knew it, the day of the meeting had arrived.
"Celeste, are you sure you're okay doing this alone? Once you're on the yacht, you'll be out there without any support."
Zoe, who had heard about her plan, tried to talk her out of it, "For your safety, it might be better to handle the boss on shore..."
"I can't miss this chance," Celeste replied coolly.
Seeing her resolve, Zoe didn't press further.
"This event is very private, and it might be tough for our people to get in. I can only arrange for two teams to be on standby on shore. Celeste, please be careful!"
"Understood."
She put away her communicator, then opened the door and stepped out.
Nathaniel's eyes narrowed, his gaze lingering on her for a solid half minute.
"Mr. Ford? Why are you staring at me like that? Do I look weird today?" It was the first time Celeste had worn such heavy makeup, and she felt somewhat uncomfortable.
"No, you look breathtaking," Nathaniel didn't skimp on the compliments. He extended his hand for her to take and casually draped his jacket over her shoulders, whispering, "You look so sexy, I almost want to keep you to myself. I kind of don't want others to see your beauty."
The woman before him was fiery and alluring, like the intense sun of June. Her large, wavy hair beautifully framed her face.
She was wearing a sexy blue dress that faded into lighter shades, with a daring backless design that left her sleek back fully exposed, while the front was just a thin strap holding up the barely-there fabric covering her ample chest.
The dress clung perfectly to her figure, the material flowing smoothly over her curves.
Celeste gracefully took Nathaniel's wrist. "I'm just trying not to embarrass you, Mr. Ford. After all, the lady of the house has to look decent."
"I might end up wanting to gouge out their eyes," Nathaniel murmured with a low laugh, placing his jacket on her as they got into the car.
…
The black Rolls-Royce pulled up at the harbor, where people were already disembarking and undergoing checks.
"Everyone, this is a high-tech exhibition. To prevent any damage to the exhibits, all weapons and magnetic metals are not allowed onboard."
Celeste's expression changed subtly, knowing the thin dress she wore concealed a handgun.
"Do I need to be checked too?" she asked.
"Our host insists on these measures for everyone's safety," one of the staff members explained quietly, approaching with a metal detector.
Nathaniel frowned slightly, thinking she was just nervous about the unfamiliar situation, and whispered reassuringly, "It's just standard procedure, just go through with it."
"Fine!" Celeste puckered her lips briefly as she shrugged off Nathaniel's jacket, draping it casually to one side while flashing a sly grin.
"Would you mind holding this for me?"
With this request, she cleverly removed the pistol strapped to her thigh and subtly placed it on the staff member.
"Absolutely, madam." The metal detector passed over her without detecting any anomalies.
"Thank you," Celeste said politely, turning to pick up her jacket and deftly retrieving her pistol.
With her phone easily in hand, as she boarded the yacht, Celeste's smile grew wider.
Her smile, spreading across her face, caught the eyes of many in the night.
"I'm starting to regret bringing you here," Nathaniel commented as he scanned the crowd. Her smile had attracted many admiring looks.
He then pulled her closer by the waist, a gesture that told everyone she was his woman.
As the yacht moved away from shore, the lights on land began to blur. Celeste watched as trays laden with gourmet food were brought onto the deck, several attractive models attending to the guests. She could clearly see several pills on the plates...
These were definitely the latest addictive drugs, strictly banned substances!
The boss was brazenly supplying these illegal items.
A flash of murderous intent crossed Celeste's eyes, her hand instinctively moving towards her thigh, ready to act should the chance arise to take down the boss today.
…
Mr. Ford, it's an honor to have you and Mrs. Ford here," a familiar voice suddenly announced.
The boss had arrived!
Celeste's expression subtly changed, her hands tightening as she braced herself.
"Surprised to see you here in person. Aren't you worried about assassins following you again?" Nathaniel's tone was light, almost taunting, as he sized up the boss. "I hope you manage to stay alive until we finish our deal."
"I've taken extensive precautions, so I'm not concerned. If she dares to show up, she'll be the one dying," the boss confidently replied, narrowing his eyes.
Celeste, hearing this, quickly composed herself.
She offered the boss a genuine smile, her gaze calm and measured as she sized him up. Given his cautious nature, she wondered if he might be wearing a bulletproof vest. Maybe aiming for a headshot would be more reliable.
It was quite a surprise.
Despite being a wanted man, the boss was bold enough to appear publicly on a yacht far from land, confident in his security measures.
Sadly for him, today his confidence would be his downfall!
