Chapter 137 Bringing Her Home
The two returned to the top-floor president's office of the Talbot Group building, where Heath had been waiting for a long time. "Congratulations, Mr. Talbot, on securing that land in the west of the city!" His tone was full of excitement, as if he had also participated in the fierce competition.
Dorian responded indifferently, his gaze sweeping over Amelia, his tone businesslike, "You two, go back to your positions and finish the remaining work. Tomorrow, there's a Talbot Group business dinner, no need to come to the office."
Amelia nodded slightly and turned to leave.
She returned to her office, her slender fingers flying over the keyboard, the dense data on the screen flowing past her eyes.
After finishing the last piece of data, she let out a light breath, a hint of laziness showing in her delicate features.
Dorian's office door was half-open, and his deep voice came out, "Heath, notify everyone that tonight's international meeting is moved up to eight o'clock."
Amelia stood up and knocked on the door frame. "Mr. Talbot, my work is done."
Dorian looked up from his documents, his deep gaze falling on her, "Good. Are you going to tutor Rhys tonight?"
"Yes," Amelia responded indifferently.
"I'll be staying at the office for a meeting tonight, so have dinner there, no need to cook for yourself," Dorian's tone was calm but carried an undeniable command.
Amelia remembered the dress left at Serenity Retreat and wondered when Everett would need it, but she couldn't delay him, so she said, "I need to deliver a dress first, then I'll go to the Talbot family."
Dorian's eyes narrowed slightly, feeling a bit displeased at the thought of Amelia interacting with another man, but he remained expressionless, "Deliver it quickly and come back. Rhys has exams coming up, don't let him fall behind."
"I understand," Amelia's tone remained cold as she turned to leave.
Dorian watched her departing figure, his long fingers tapping lightly on the desk.
After work, Amelia returned to Serenity Retreat and took out the custom-made dress from the wardrobe.
She took a taxi to the hotel where Everett was staying.
When she knocked on the door, Everett opened it and was pleasantly surprised to see Amelia, "Amelia, what brings you here?"
Amelia handed him the gift box, "Your dress."
Everett took the box, his smile even brighter, "Thank you, Amelia! I was just wondering how to get it."
He opened the box and admired the finely crafted dress, exclaiming, "It's beautiful! Mr. Ford has great taste!"
Amelia smiled faintly, "I'm glad you like it."
"Amelia, how long will you be staying in Harbor City?" Everett asked.
"I..." Amelia hesitated, "I probably won't be leaving Harbor City for now, as I have things to do here."
"Really?" Everett raised an eyebrow, "I was hoping to invite you and Isolde to dinner when you both have time. I'm here in Harbor City because the music department at Harbor City University invited me to be an honorary lecturer, so I'll be staying here for a while."
"Congratulations," Amelia said sincerely, "Once you're settled in Harbor City, let me know your address, and Isolde and I will definitely come to celebrate with you."
"Great!" Everett said excitedly, "By the way, Amelia, where are you staying now? I'll come visit you later."
Amelia didn't want Everett to know about her relationship with Dorian, so she said, "I'm staying near Intellect University, but I've been quite busy lately and rarely at home. Let's keep in touch by phone."
"Alright," Everett said, though a bit puzzled, he didn't press further, "Take care on your way."
Amelia nodded and left, taking a taxi to the Talbot family to tutor Rhys.
When she arrived at the Talbot family, it was drizzling outside.
But after the tutoring session, it had turned into a heavy downpour.
Amelia closed the workbook, and Rhys rubbed his tired eyes, finally getting through several hours of tutoring.
"Is Uncle Dorian still working late at the office tonight?" Rhys yawned, his eyelids barely open.
"Yes," Amelia responded indifferently, glancing at her phone to check the time, it was almost ten o'clock.
Outside, the rain showed no signs of letting up, instead growing more intense, with the wind and rain battering the villa's exterior like an invisible beast.
"Ms. Boleyn, it's so late and the rain is so heavy, why don't you stay in the guest room tonight?" Rhys suggested, rubbing his eyes, "The driver caught a cold today and can't take you."
Amelia hesitated for a moment and took out her phone to send a message to Dorian: [Mr. Talbot, the Talbot family driver is unwell, and it's pouring outside. May I stay at the Talbot family tonight?]
After sending the message, Amelia put her phone back in her bag.
Seeing that Amelia didn't immediately agree, Rhys thought she was uncomfortable with the idea and quickly added, "The guest room is very clean, no one usually stays there. Ms. Boleyn, you can rest assured and stay. It's not convenient to get a taxi in this weather."
Before Amelia could respond, her phone vibrated with a message from Dorian: [I just finished work and am coming to pick you up.]
Almost simultaneously, the sound of a car engine came from outside the villa, growing closer until it stopped at the villa's entrance.
"It looks like Uncle Dorian is back!" Rhys exclaimed excitedly, running to the window. Through the rain-blurred glass, he saw a black Maybach parked steadily outside.
Amelia's heart stirred slightly as she walked to the window. The car door opened, and a tall figure stepped out, his black suit jacket soaked by the rain, clinging to his body and outlining his tall frame.
Even in the dim light, his chiseled features and deep eyes were clearly visible.
It was Dorian.
He held a black umbrella and quickly walked towards the villa's entrance.
Rhys stared curiously at Dorian, "Uncle Dorian, are you staying here tonight?"
Dorian glanced at him indifferently, "No, I'm here to pick up Ms. Boleyn."
He turned to Amelia, his tone still calm, "Tomorrow is the Talbot Group business dinner, you need to attend. We need to get up early to see the stylist."
Rhys's excited expression instantly deflated like a punctured balloon. He had thought Uncle Dorian would finally stay the night, but...
But then he seemed to realize something, his eyes widening as he looked at Dorian and Amelia with curiosity. "Wait, Uncle Dorian, you mean you haven't been staying here because Ms. Boleyn is living with you?"
Dorian's face darkened, his tone carrying a hint of warning, "Focus on your studies, don't think about other things."
Rhys immediately shut his mouth, but the curiosity in his eyes burned even brighter. He sneaked a glance at Amelia, who remained calm and indifferent, seemingly unaffected by Dorian's words.
Dorian walked towards Amelia.
"Let's go," he said succinctly.
Amelia nodded slightly, picked up her bag, and followed Dorian out.
