Chapter 4 The waking up
Brandon couldn't believe what he was seeing as he woke up. A strange woman was standing in front of him, looking at his body with trembling hands. Her face was filled with fear, as if she had seen a ghost. He realized that everything that had just happened was not a dream. The thought of what she might have done to him made him angry.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?" His voice was hoarse as he looked at the woman in front of him. His anger was evident, and it made Victoria tremble with fear.
"I...I am...I am your wife, who was brought here to take care of you," she stammered. Wife? Brandon's eyes flickered with confusion and anger. He pushed the woman to the ground, his gaze cold as he looked at the things on the table.
Victoria blushed, realizing that he had woken up and had caught her doing something she shouldn't have. She felt like a thief who had been caught red-handed and had nowhere to run. He grabbed her by the neck, his strength still as strong as ever despite having slept for a year. "What did you do to me? Do you know who I am?" His anger burned like fire, and it seemed like it could kill someone.
"I'm sorry, I thought you wouldn't wake up," Victoria said, her voice trembling.
Brandon finally realized what it was and grabbed her by the neck. "So now everyone thinks they can plot against me? A woman dares to plot against me?"
"No, you misunderstand," Victoria didn't know what to say. She saw Brandon looking like he was about to kill her and quickly got up and ran away.
Brandon wanted to go after her, but his legs gave out and he almost fell.
Taking advantage of the situation, Victoria ran out. Brandon cursed under his breath. At that moment, he saw the servants outside, looking surprised and shouting, "Young master is awake, young master is awake!"
Everyone in the Duncan Family was awakened.
No one expected this man who the doctor had declared would soon die to suddenly wake up. This small villa, which had been neglected for a long time, was suddenly filled with people.
The old lady with white hair held Brandon's hand tightly, tears streaming down her face. "Brandon, you finally woke up. I thought I would die before you woke up. I begged God every day, willing to give up a few years of my life for you to wake up. Finally, God has opened his eyes."
"Okay, old lady, I'm awake now. Don't cry," Catherine, who was wearing plain clothes, also had tears in her eyes. She looked at Brandon angrily and said, "Your illness has caused chaos in the family. Now that you're awake, tell us what happened. How did you suddenly have a car accident? Was someone trying to harm you?"
"Natural disasters and man-made calamities can happen to anyone. Big sister, what do you mean? Brandon seems to be in good health this year. Are you pretending to be sick?" On the other side, Lisa looked at Brandon with a sarcastic tone.
Catherine turned around angrily, "I think you're the one who makes Brandon the least happy when he wakes up. Is the car accident a year ago related to you?"
"Big sister, you're saying nonsense. After Brandon had an accident, the Cosmos Group took care of all his affairs, and that's my good brother-in-law, your good husband. I even thought the car accident was related to you."
"What are you talking about!"
"That's enough." The old lady angrily rebuked the two of them, staring coldly at them and saying, "Anyway, Brandon has already woken up now. Let's not talk about the past for the time being."
Brandon glanced coldly at the two of them, "I don't remember what happened back then, but what about that woman today?" His eyes showed a hint of anger when he mentioned that woman.
The old lady suddenly remembered, "Oh, where's your wife? I... I thought you wouldn't wake up for a while, so I got you a wife to accompany you. Why isn't she here?"
Brandon's face turned pale. "She's gone? She's probably fled in fear."
After everyone had left, Elijah, who had always been by his side, walked in with red eyes. "Sir, I'm glad you woke up. It's been a year..."
"Who caused my accident a year ago, I will make them pay. But first, help me find something." He took out a bracelet from his palm, still stained with his blood. "This bracelet fell into my hand when I was unconscious. Find out who it belongs to."
Because the bracelet fell into his hand, he was able to wake up. He had squeezed it tightly, piercing his own palm. This person was his savior after all. "Also, find out where the woman named Victoria went!"
Elijah was surprised, but nodded quickly.
He acted quickly and that night, he brought the owner of the bracelet, Diana, to the villa.
Diana was forcefully taken out and was so scared that she almost fainted. But when she arrived and saw who was there, she was even more surprised.
This person was none other than Brandon, the richest man in Hua Country.
She couldn't believe that she had the chance to meet such a person.
Looking at the stunned Diana, Brandon narrowed his eyes and took out the bracelet. "This is yours, right?"
