Chapter 93
I replied, "Only Jason's aunt doesn't really like me. Everyone else is pretty nice."
I poured tea for both of us, the corners of my lips curving up slightly, my tone softening a bit. "But the Cooper family all really likes Jessica. They all adore Jessica."
Lily's eyes lit up, her tone excited as she said, "Isn't that great? Then you should hurry up and marry Jason. What's there to hesitate about?"
I just smiled slightly at this and didn't continue with what Lily said.
Now, compared to wanting a happy and perfect marriage, I hope more that Jessica can grow up healthy and happy.
Seeing that Lily seemed to want to ask more, I naturally changed the subject. "You seem to be in a good mood lately. Are you and Ryan doing well?"
At the mention of Ryan, Lily couldn't suppress the smile at the corners of her mouth.
She nodded with a smile. "He listens to me, and he can cook. He takes such good care of me every day, I'm so comfortable."
She was about to say something more when a tall figure strode closer.
"Lily? It really is you! I didn't expect to run into you here!" The man's voice grew increasingly excited.
The moment Lily saw who it was, her expression turned completely cold. "What are you doing here?"
Chris Miller's smile became even more gentle as he gazed deeply at Lily, as if he loved her deeply.
"Lily, I knew you couldn't forget me. You still love me, right? Otherwise, why would you find out I was at this restaurant and come here to see me?"
Chris kept talking without waiting for Lily to say anything.
With every word he spoke, Lily's expression grew worse.
Unfortunately, Chris didn't notice this at all.
His eyes were fixed on Lily as he said, "I went to your place before. Did you move? I didn't see you, but I saw a man at the house instead."
Lily froze, getting even angrier.
"Do I need to report to you where I go and what I do?" Lily sneered. "Who do you think you are? You don't really think I have to be hung up on you for the rest of my life, do you?"
Chris frowned, his tone taking on a disapproving note. "Why are you still angry? I thought letting you cool down for these past few days would be long enough. Aren't I the man you love most? How could you possibly be comfortable without being by my side?"
As he said this, it was as if he felt some great sense of satisfaction inside. His face wore a pleased smile, and as if he was doing her a favor, he beckoned to Lily. "I admit I was a little wrong last time, too. I apologize. Now you can come back to me, right?"
With that, he reached out to grab Lily's arm.
Before Lily could react, I, already furious, slapped Chris's hand away and threw the water from my teacup right in his face!
In that instant, I suddenly understood why Victoria was so fond of throwing water.
That really felt great!
"Scumbag! Stop being so full of yourself! You think everyone wants to be with you?"
I stared at Chris's punchable face and said through gritted teeth, "Narcissist! Trash! You have no right to appear in front of Lily!"
Chris's gaze finally turned to me.
His eyes were dark as he stared straight at me and strode toward me.
"You dare to touch me? Do you know who I am? If I want to, I can make it so you can't stay in Seaside City!"
"Don't you touch her!" Lily suddenly stepped in front of me.
Chris looked down at her and smiled.
He reached out to hook her chin, suggestively caressing her red lips as he asked, "You want me to let her go? No problem, but you have to come back to me."
Chris said, "Lily, you know what? During this time without you by my side, I really missed you. I miss how you used to snuggle in my arms and act cute. Come back to me, okay?"
"Dream on!" I grabbed the bouquet from the table and threw it at Chris!
"Shameless man! You don't cherish her at all! Get lost!" I practically screamed myself hoarse.
I had witnessed Lily's pain firsthand.
Now that she had finally forgotten the past, Chris had appeared again.
Chris's expression grew darker.
He pushed Lily aside, his eyes full of anger as he said to me, "Even if Lily comes back now, I still need to teach you a lesson."
Chris raised his hand, about to strike my face.
My heart jumped instantly.
But I still stood there without moving, thinking about how to fight back.
The next moment, Chris's wrist was firmly gripped by a large hand.
Jason stood beside him with a dark expression and demanded, "Who gave you the nerve to hit her? She's my woman."
When Chris saw it was Jason, his anger subsided a bit. "Mr. Cooper? What are you doing here, too? This is all a misunderstanding."
"Is that so?" The corners of Jason's lips curved into a mocking arc, and before Chris could speak, he suddenly punched him hard in the face!
"Sorry, that was also a misunderstanding." Chris's head jerked to the side as he spat out a mouthful of blood.
Chris explained, "I didn't actually hit her. Mr. Cooper, isn't this going too far!"
Jason said, "Then I apologize to you. After all, it's just a misunderstanding. Let's all not take it to heart."
Jason released his restraining hand and unhurriedly straightened his slightly disheveled sleeves.
Jason looked up, his gaze cold. "Or I don't mind adding a few more misunderstandings like that, since you were bullying two women in public. How embarrassing would that be if word got out?"
Chris's face turned red with anger, but he could only leave resentfully.
"...Thank you." It wasn't until after Chris left that I quietly thanked him.
If it hadn't been for Jason, I would have been in real danger today.
But I didn't regret it.
Chris was a scumbag who dared to appear in front of Lily and be so arrogant!
I only regretted that what I threw at him wasn't hot water!
"And you—do you even know who he is before you make a move? If I hadn't been here today, you would have been in trouble."
Jason frowned slightly, scolding me in a low voice.
Seeing my defiant look, he sighed softly. "Next time you encounter something like this, don't impulsively get into conflicts with others. Come find me, and then I'll get revenge for you."
I lowered my head to avoid Jason's gaze and muttered, "It's only because he was too much..."
"Even so, you need to tell me." Jason pinched my cheek with one hand.
He raised an eyebrow and looked at me with a smile. "Got it?"
I answered quietly, "I know... Let go of me already!"
