Chapter 45
I stared at Jason's face, which was clearly looking for trouble, and placed the meeting details document in front of him. "Mr. Cooper, everything's written here."
Jason didn't even glance at the document. He just stared straight at me.
With his broad shoulders and narrow waist, his figure looked even more tempting in that black shirt.
I unconsciously looked him up and down.
Five years ago, Kean had a great body.
Eight-pack abs with clear definition and smooth lines.
Especially when doing that kind of thing, sweat trickling down those lines...
My face instantly flushed.
I quickly shook my head, trying to shake these messy thoughts out of my mind.
That's all in the past.
Jason raised an eyebrow slightly, taking in my reaction.
He suddenly reached out, grabbed my wrist, and yanked hard.
Caught off guard, I fell straight into Jason's arms.
His familiar, warm scent instantly surrounded me.
"You've been looking for so long, why not try touching them yourself?"
My whole body stiffened. I instinctively tried to get up, but Jason wrapped his arm around my waist. "Jason..."
My voice trembled uncontrollably, "Let me go..."
"No." Jason refused without hesitation.
His tone carried a tempting allure. "You clearly like it too, so why reject me?"
"Who likes it?" I shouted, "You're the one who pulled me up here!"
He chuckled softly.
Although I couldn't see Jason's expression, I could imagine how playful he looked right now.
He used to be like this, always loving to tease me until I blushed, then stare at me with that mischievous smile.
My heartbeat unconsciously quickened.
I reached out to push Jason away, but he grabbed my hand instead.
"Touch and see. Check out the results of my workouts over these years."
The abs under my palm were tight and firm, rising and falling with his breathing, tugging at my heartbeat with each movement.
I felt my cheeks burning. I didn't need to look to know I was completely red.
I wanted to pull my hand back, but Jason seemed to have an invisible pull, making my hand unconsciously caress his lower abdomen.
It felt good, even better than I remembered.
I couldn't help touching it again.
A thought even arose in my mind that touching through clothes wasn't quite satisfying enough.
Jason didn't stop me. His lips curved lazily as he looked at me with a smile.
After a moment, Jason asked slowly, "Well? Satisfied?"
My hand froze, and I quickly pulled it back. "Sorry."
"You've had your fun, now isn't it my turn?" Before Jason finished speaking, he hooked my chin and kissed me.
My eyes widened instantly. Before me was the man's magnified, handsome face.
Jason held my waist with one hand and cradled the back of my head with the other, blocking all my escape routes.
Possessiveness mixed with irresistible tenderness swept over me.
My hand unconsciously gripped Jason's collar. My eyelashes trembled, and I slowly closed my eyes.
Just this once, I told myself, 'I don't know how long this gentle yet forceful kiss lasted.'
Not until I was gasping for air did Jason finally let me go, saying with a smile, "How come you still don't know how to breathe?"
The pleasure between his brows became even more obvious.
Coming back to my senses, I glared at him irritably.
I haven't been with a man for five years, so isn't it normal that I don't know how to breathe?
Jason's fingertip slowly traced his own lips, which were unusually red from kissing, looking like he wanted more.
My face flushed, and I quickly tried to get up from Jason.
But Jason held me tightly, his voice carrying a hint of grievance. "Just hold me for a bit, just a little while, okay?"
This pitiful look of his instantly pulled me back to five years ago.
He was like this back then too, always loving to cling to me and hold me. Knowing full well I couldn't resist him like this, he especially loved making me give in this way.
My heart uncontrollably stirred again.
'Do I still love him?'
'Yes.'
'Will I continue to love him?'
'Honestly, I don't dare anymore.'
During those few minutes of embrace, my heart was like a small boat floating on the sea, rising and falling.
Seeing that enough time had passed, I gently pushed Jason away.
Jason didn't hold me back this time.
"I'll be going then!" I grabbed the documents and ran.
When Jason walked in, I knew his so-called issues with the meeting details were just an excuse.
If I don't leave now, I'm afraid I won't be able to!
Pushing open the office door, I saw Samuel standing right outside.
Seeing me come out, Samuel smiled slightly and said, "Ms. Wilson, let me see you down."
"Thanks." I took a deep breath, trying my best to calm my emotions.
Just as the elevator doors were about to close, a woman walked in.
I had my head down at first and didn't notice her, but her gaze was so intense that I couldn't ignore it.
I looked up and saw a face both strange and familiar.
Victoria.
The woman I had once seen from afar, leaving with Jason, and who had appeared in photos Brian sent me, looking at Jason with bright eyes.
What was she doing here? Did she come specifically to see Jason?
This thought flashed through my mind before I dismissed it.
Jason and I have no relationship. What kind of people are around him is none of my business.
Victoria's eyes met mine.
She lifted her chin slightly, showing an elegant, distant smile.
But I clearly sensed hostility in her eyes.
I nodded lightly as a greeting, then ignored her.
The atmosphere in the elevator became somewhat awkward.
Samuel coughed lightly at this moment and spoke as if casually, "Ms. Wilson, Mr. Cooper takes Friday's meeting very seriously. If there are any new changes later, we may need to trouble you to make another trip."
"No problem, that's part of my job."
I didn't quite understand why Samuel was saying this now, but I responded anyway.
From the corner of my eye, Victoria's expression seemed to darken a bit.
Finally, the elevator doors opened.
I left quickly, as if released.
Victoria followed close behind me, her gaze not exactly friendly.
Just as I came out of Glacier Corp, I ran right into Grandma Cooper.
Thinking about how Grandma Cooper had been really good to me, I was about to go forward and greet her when Victoria beat me to it, walking up in her small heels.
"Grandma, what brings you to the company today? Are you here to see Jason?"
Victoria smiled sweetly, her tone intimate.
But Grandma Cooper just glanced at her and said coldly, "Do I need to report to you when I come to Cooper Corp? Company employees should address their superiors as Mr. Cooper, right? What do you mean by calling him Jason?"
Victoria's smile froze.
She wanted to explain, but Grandma Cooper had already walked past her and came up to me, switching to a beaming expression.
"Sue, I haven't seen you in so long! Why haven't you come to visit me? I've missed you so much!" Grandma Cooper said while tightly holding my hand.
She was completely different from how she had just coldly treated Victoria.
