Chapter 234

Chapter 234

"No."

Jason's tone was absolutely certain.

He gripped my hand tightly, "Even if she has a mental illness, I have ways to make sure she never gets out for the rest of her life."

His deep eyes narrowed slightly, brewing a terrifying storm within them.

I nodded gently.

"Don't let her come out and hurt people anymore."

As for how Jason would deal with Victoria and what would happen to her, I wasn't interested and didn't want to know.

Hearing too much about it would just bring bad luck.

The doctor came for rounds.

That's when I found out.

The knife Victoria stabbed into my lower abdomen had almost pierced my spleen.

If her knife had been just a little bit off, I would have died.

No wonder Jason looked so worried when I woke up.

Fortunately, I was lucky enough to survive.

The days recovering in the hospital were really boring.

Every day, besides lying in bed playing on my phone, I just stared at the ceiling with my eyes wide open.

Jason had moved his entire office directly into the hospital room.

Good thing this was a VIP room and big enough.

When I got tired of playing on my phone, I turned my head to look at Jason, who was frowning while handling documents not far away.

He seemed to have run into some problems; his face dark at the moment.

Although he was trying hard to suppress it, I could still faintly hear the anger in his voice.

I looked away.

So boring.

"Is Sue in here?"

Just then, a familiar voice came from the doorway.

I turned to look and tried to sit up.

The next moment, a warm large hand pressed on my shoulder.

Jason, who had been absorbed in his work, had somehow walked to my side and was pressing down on my shoulder with one hand to keep me from getting up.

Jason shook his head.

I sighed and obediently lay back down.

Lying in bed all the time, I felt like my joints were getting rusty.

Now that someone finally came to visit me, he wouldn't even let me sit up.

"Ms. Blake, sorry to interrupt your work."

Ophelia walked over carrying a fruit basket.

She glanced at Jason and shook her head gently, "No worries, recovering is what matters."

"Thank you, Ms. Blake."

Ophelia didn't stay in the room for long.

She briefly checked on me and was about to leave.

Before leaving, Ophelia suddenly said to Jason, "Thank you, Mr. Cooper."

I was a bit surprised and asked Jason after Ophelia left, "What did she thank you for?"

Jason said calmly, "There happened to be a project that was quite suitable for Polaris Company."

I understood immediately.

Jason had given Polaris Company a project.

No wonder I hadn't heard any work news even though I'd been hospitalized for several days.

Turns out Jason had taken care of everything in advance.

Warmth rose in my heart.

This feeling of being cared for and loved was really addictive.

But...

"Honey, was that project really because Polaris Company was suitable?"

I asked seriously.

Jason raised an eyebrow, looking at me with a half-smile, "What's wrong? Don't you believe in Polaris Company's capabilities?"

My lips moved.

It was precisely because I knew Polaris Company too well that I knew if we were just looking at Polaris Company alone, there was no way we could have landed a partnership with Glacier Corp.

There were many partners for Glacier Corp to choose from, and Polaris Company wouldn't even rank.

Thinking of this, I shook my head.

"Honey, actually you don't need to do this for me..."

"We're family."

Jason interrupted me.

He leaned over and gently kissed my cheek.

"Honey, normally I don't interfere with your work, but this time there's a reason. I just wanted to make things easier for you."

"Don't feel burdened, okay?"

"Either way, it's making money, no big deal."

With him putting it that way, I had nothing more to say.

Lying in the hospital bed, I felt uncomfortable all over.

"Honey."

"What's wrong?"

"I want to get out of bed and walk around."

"No."

Jason refused very decisively, "The doctor said you need bed rest right now. What if you get up and walk around and your wound opens up?"

Me: "I feel like I'm turning into a mummy."

Jason laughed, "That's okay, I'll love you even as a mummy."

That's not what I was talking about.

I took an afternoon nap.

Lily and Ryan came to see me.

As soon as Lily walked in, she couldn't help complaining to me.

"Sue, Jason is such a jealous king. When I heard you were injured, I wanted to come see you right away, but he wouldn't let me, saying I was too noisy and would disturb your rest if I came."

"Listen to that—does that sound reasonable? And am I really that noisy? I'm actually quite considerate, okay?"

Jason crossed his arms, his gaze sweeping over her. "You're being pretty noisy right now."

I smiled helplessly, "It's fine, it's the same whenever you come."

Although Lily hadn't come in person these past few days, she'd sent me plenty of messages.

When I was bored lying in the hospital bed, I mostly passed the time chatting with Lily.

"Forget about him."

Lily came to my bedside and asked with concern, "How are you feeling? Does your wound still hurt? Do you want to eat anything? I'll have Ryan make it for you, his cooking skills are getting better and better."

Ryan also smiled beside her, "That's right, order whatever you want."

Jason added coolly, "Do you think I'd let my wife go without good food?"

Lily rolled her eyes and complained in a low voice near my ear, "The jealousy king lives up to his name! He's even jealous of this?"

I laughed, "You know that, so why say it out loud?"

Lily huffed, "You just keep spoiling him!"

Lily and Ryan didn't stay in the room long before Jason started pushing them out.

Under the pretense that they were disturbing my rest.

Lily was quite annoyed when she left.

Ryan had to coax and pull her away.

Only after they both left did I look at Jason.

"Honey, why do I feel like you have such a problem with Lily and the others?"

Jason was looking over some documents. Hearing this, he lifted his eyelids lazily and asked, "Do I?"

"Don't I?"

I looked at him helplessly.

He'd already directly kicked them out, and he was still asking me if he did.

Jason: "That's because they stayed too long and would disturb your rest."

Me: "But with Lily here, I have someone to chat with and won't feel so bored."

Jason looked up from his documents, staring straight at me, "I'm here with you too."

Me: "You're even jealous of this?"

"That's what a jealousy king does."

So he heard that.

This petty man!

In the evening, Jessica and Lila came together to bring dinner.

Jessica's injuries weren't serious, she was mainly just scared.

She was discharged after staying in the hospital for a few days.

"Mommy, tonight we have chicken soup!"

Jessica skillfully took the food out of the thermal container and carefully arranged everything.

"Lila spent the whole afternoon making it, Mommy—you'll definitely love it!"

"It smells so good."

I smiled and patted Jessica's little head, then turned to nod at Lila, "Thank you for your hard work, Lila."

These past few days, Lila had been making all kinds of delicious foods and bringing them over.

All of it was to get me to eat a bit more.

Lila smiled, "It's no trouble, as long as you can get better soon."

"That's right, Mommy, you need to get better quickly!"
