Chapter 117

Chapter 117

I couldn't help but look down at Jessica.

She really loved it. Her eyes were sparkling.

"As long as Jessica likes it."

Samuel smiled warmly and led us forward. "Over here is the master bedroom, the guest rooms..."

To my surprise, each room had a different style, but they were all to my taste.

Grandma Cooper stood to the side with a beaming smile, clearly very satisfied with the entire villa.

"This is the sunroom. Mr. Cooper specifically instructed us not to decorate it yet and to wait until you arrive, Ms. Wilson, so it can be done according to your preferences."

At that moment, sunlight poured into the room, making it especially bright, as if warming one's heart.

We toured from the first floor to the third.

Samuel stood on the third-floor balcony looking down. "Down there is the small courtyard on the first floor. We've built raised beds with bricks for Ms. Wilson to grow vegetables."

At those words, I froze completely.

Memories sealed away in my mind suddenly came flooding back.

Back when Jason and I were living in that cramped rental in Sunrise City.

On rainy nights, we loved to curl up on the couch together, holding each other, talking softly about our dreams for the future.

I had leaned against Jason's warm chest, my eyes bright, gesturing in front of him. "When I have money someday, I'm going to buy a first-floor place with a small yard."

"A lot of people don't like first floors," Jason had said.

"I know, but I do. I want a small yard so I can grow vegetables to eat. It would be fun and save money too!"

I had nodded vigorously, saying with a smile, "Only Grandma Cooper would enjoy doing something like that, right?"

Jason had held me tighter, turned his head to kiss my cheek, and teased me, "What are you planning to grow?"

The sweeter the memory, the more my eyes burned.

I never imagined that five years later, Jason would still remember those casual dreams we'd talked about, and that he'd actually made them come true.

"Ms. Wilson, when are you planning to move?"

Samuel studied my expression and asked again.

I pressed my lips together slightly, hesitated for a moment, then gently shook my head. "Let's wait a bit."

I really loved this house - it was exactly what I'd once imagined.

No, it was even better than what I'd imagined.

I never thought I'd be able to afford such a nice villa someday.

"Is there something you're not happy with?" Grandma Cooper took my hand and asked with concern. "If there's anything you don't like, just say so. Samuel is right here - we can have him change it."

Samuel nodded.

I felt a bit embarrassed. "No, the house is wonderful. I love it."

"Then let's move in now!" Grandma Cooper said immediately.

I quickly waved my hands. Just as I was about to say something, Grandma Cooper spoke first. "Sue, don't feel pressured. It's just a villa. Just accept it - you don't need to feel burdened."

I shook my head even more at that. "Grandma Cooper, I didn't have Jessica for money. I love Jessica very much. She's my treasure."

"I understand. I know you're not that kind of person. But this villa is truly what you deserve. Just accept it!" Grandma Cooper looked at me sincerely.

Meeting Grandma Cooper's gaze, my lips moved, but I couldn't bring myself to agree directly.

"Let me think about it some more."

Looking at the time, lunch break was almost over.

I said goodbye to everyone and took a cab back to DT Corp.

As soon as I got out of the car, looking at the heavy documents in my hand, I walked toward the parking lot.

Before I could open the car door, a dark figure rushed out and slammed into me hard.

My hand loosened, the documents fell to the ground, and the property deed slid out.

Victoria quickly snatched up the deed, and after opening it and seeing my name, she jerked her head up.

"Sue, you really have some skills! Now you can even trick Jason into buying you a house? Have you no shame? You bitch! How dare you take Jason's things!"

Victoria clutched the property deed, looking at me with especially vicious eyes!

I rubbed my shoulder and looked at the deed in Victoria's hand. "Give it back."

"You bitch! I can't even afford to rent a place now, so why should you get to have a house?!"

Victoria screamed, gripping the property deed tightly. "What tricks did you use to get Jason to buy this for you? Shameless! You say you don't like him, but I think you like him very much!"

I frowned at her. "Your name's not on it, so it's useless to you. Even if you tear it up, I can get it reissued."

Victoria's movements stiffened for a moment, then she said through gritted teeth,

"You must be very proud, Sue. Now you can marry into a wealthy family with your illegitimate child."

My expression changed abruptly. I stepped forward and slapped Victoria hard across the face!

"Who did you call an illegitimate child?"

"Your kid, of course. No one even knows who the father is, and you still want to marry Jason!"

Victoria covered her face, her words full of venom.

She stared at me coldly, then suddenly lunged at me!

I reacted quickly and kicked Victoria hard in the stomach!

Victoria cried out and curled up on the ground in a pathetic heap.

I bent down to pick up the property deed from the ground, dusted it off, and then put it in the compartment in front of the passenger seat.

Victoria struggled to her feet, hunched over, staring at me through gritted teeth. "Online, it says the child is Jason's - how is that possible? How could Jason have a child with a woman like you? You must have tricked him! Tell me who the child's father really is!"

I gave Victoria an exasperated look and turned to leave.

After just a few steps, I heard footsteps rapidly approaching from behind.

As soon as I turned around, I saw Victoria gripping a knife, her face twisted as she stabbed toward my neck!

"Die!"

Too late to dodge, my whole body stiffened for a moment, then I backed away as much as I could.

Just as the gleaming blade got closer and closer, a large hand suddenly reached out, grabbed Victoria's wrist, and twisted hard!

The sound of her wrist dislocating was unmistakable.

Victoria screamed in pain and dropped the knife.

She looked up to meet Jason's cold, menacing eyes.

Victoria froze for a moment, her face instantly draining of color.

Her lips moved, and tears fell first.

"Jason, let me explain. It's not what you think. I just wanted to know the truth, I..."

Before she could say more, Jason kicked her away without expression!
