Chapter 111
Jason sat stiffly at the dining table, his tone carrying a hint of tentative disbelief. "Is it really that bad?"
Jessica didn't want to hurt his pride, so she held back from being direct.
But Thomas said bluntly, "You spent all that time messing around in the kitchen, and this is what you came up with? If you ask me, you should just hire a chef for Sue."
Jason turned to look at Chef Linda with a gloomy expression.
Linda, who had also suffered in the kitchen, looked helpless. "Mr. Jason, don't look at me like that. I taught you exactly how I normally cook."
She had no idea how, when everyone followed the same process, the food that came out of Jason's hands turned out so different.
"Just go make the food. We're all hungry," Grandma Cooper urged.
Linda agreed, gave Jason one last complicated look, and hurried into the kitchen.
Linda made four servings of pasta.
"Mr. Jason, you should eat something too. You must be hungry after all that work this afternoon."
Jason didn't eat.
He looked at the pasta Linda made, then at his own thoroughly criticized dishes, and walked off with a dark expression.
Linda looked troubled and wanted to say something, but Grandma Cooper waved her hand first. "It's fine, don't worry about him. Sit down and eat with us."
I watched TV for a while, and, figuring Jessica had finished dinner by then, I called her.
"Jessica, have you eaten?"
Jessica's voice sounded a bit strange. "I ate... I guess..."
"What's wrong? Didn't you like today's food?" I asked in surprise.
Jessica held back and held back, but finally couldn't help asking, "Mom, could you maybe talk to Dad and tell him to stop cooking..."
"What do you mean?" I didn't understand what Jessica meant at first.
Jessica sighed and continued, "Dad spent all afternoon cooking at home today and made us try his food."
Jessica's tone was quite resentful.
"His cooking was super terrible!"
Hearing Jessica's description, I couldn't help but smile. "Is it really that bad?"
"Really! It was the worst dinner I've ever had."
"If it's really that bad, you can tell Dad you'd rather have Chef Linda's cooking from now on."
I intended to help Jessica learn how to communicate with Jason.
But Jessica's next words completely stunned me.
"That's what I was thinking too, but seeing how Dad was specifically learning to cook the food you like, I didn't say anything."
I never imagined the situation would be like this.
I never thought Jason would actually learn to cook for me.
Jessica's voice continued in my ear, "But it really wasn't good, Mom. From the look of things, Dad's probably going to keep cooking at home tomorrow. I don't want to eat his food anymore."
Hearing her whining voice, I said with a smile, "Okay, I got it."
I spoke helplessly but didn't immediately agree.
Knowing that Jason was learning to cook for my sake, I couldn't just agree with Jessica right away.
After reminding Jessica to behave at Old Cooper Mansion, I hung up.
The room fell quiet, with only the sound of the TV.
I curled up on the sofa, lost in thought.
Suddenly, someone knocked on the door.
I knew it was Jason, but I didn't want to open it.
I didn't know what expression I should use to face him right now.
"Sue, open the door, I'm back." Jason's voice came from outside.
My whole body tensed up, and I turned to look at the door in disbelief.
"Sue! Are you home?"
"Sue! Open the door!"
"Sue..."
Jason's repeated calls outside gave me a headache.
Worried that he'd keep shouting and disturb the neighbors, I had to open the door.
I pulled the door open and stared at Jason expressionlessly.
"Sue, I haven't seen you all day. Did you miss me?" Jason looked at me with a smile.
I stepped back two steps and turned to walk toward the sofa.
Jason didn't get angry. After changing into slippers, he followed me to the living room.
"Sue, I missed you so much. I want to hug you." Jason said while reaching out to hold me.
His familiar scent instantly enveloped me, and I suddenly remembered what Jessica had said on the phone, and I could smell the kitchen smoke on him.
I pressed my hands against his chest and pushed him away with a frown. "No, you smell too much."
Jason withdrew his hands and lowered his head to smell himself.
"I guess I do smell a bit. Let me take a shower then."
Jason said this but didn't move, looking at me pitifully. "Sue, I haven't had dinner yet. When I finish my shower, can I have a loving dinner made by you?"
I hesitated for a moment before refusing. "...No."
Jason blinked. "Anything is fine."
I insisted, "Still no."
Jason raised an eyebrow. "I'll pay extra."
"I don't want it!"
"Twenty thousand dollars."
My lips moved, and I couldn't resist the temptation of money. "What do you want to eat?"
Jason immediately laughed. He pinched my cheek. "Anything, I'll eat anything Sue makes."
I walked toward the kitchen.
Jason chuckled softly and headed to the bathroom to shower.
I suddenly thought of something and quickly ran after Jason.
Jason had just taken off his shirt and was leaning against the bathroom door, bare-chested. "What's wrong? If you want to shower with me, I have no objections."
My ears burned, and I looked away from his eight-pack abs, pointing at the two bath towels in the bathroom.
"You used my old towel, so I don't want it anymore. You can only use the old one. The new one is mine, you can't use it!"
"Is this a towel you specially prepared for me?" Jason's eyes lit up, and his tone became lighter.
I glared at him angrily. "No! That's my old towel!"
"It's mine now." Jason raised an eyebrow, looking at me suggestively. "Just admit it, you have feelings for me, and you want me to live here."
Hearing him get more and more ridiculous, I stopped responding and went to the kitchen to make curry rice.
When the curry rice was ready, I put it on the dining table.
I went back to the sofa to watch my show.
Jason finished his shower and came out with a towel around his waist, bare-chested.
The water droplets on his body weren't completely dried, glistening suggestively under the warm yellow light.
My gaze couldn't help but linger on him for a moment before I reluctantly looked away.
"Like what you see?" Jason walked up to me and grabbed my hand, pressing it against his abs. "I'm generous. Go ahead and touch."
