Chapter 103 Sudden Married
Chapter 103 Sudden Married
Enzo
"You'll apologize forever," she corrects, muttering other words under her breath. "I can't believe everyone kept this from me."
"They know what this means for you."
She exhales quietly.
"You can go. I'm sure you have plenty to do while I get dressed. Elena and Dani will tell me what happened. After I kill them both. Honestly, they both should have covered for me anyway. They're my best friends," she snorts.
"So, you're saying yes?" I ask cautiously.
Rose smiles, amused. "You didn't even ask me that when we got engaged."
"Will you marry me today or not, Rose?" I insist, demanding she say the words.
"Yes," she says with a sigh. "I'll be there. I promise," she adds in a sincere voice.
She stands on her toes and kisses me tenderly on the lips. And with one last smile, she walks over to her friends. Part of me wants to marry her.
I want to pull her into my arms and never let her go, but I force myself to get back in the car and drive away. After today, our destinies will be intertwined. Forever.
Part of me doesn't believe it. Not when I'm fully dressed. Not when I walk into the church pews filled with family and friends.
I'm nervous as hell as I walk down the aisle. My gaze finds Isa and the twins in the front row, and I take my place in front. Marie and Matthew wave at me with identical smiles on their faces. Despite everything,
I'm glad Rose talked me out of killing their mother. I'd regret it if I did. At least for their sake. Denise is now taking medication for depression, undergoing treatment, and slowly returning to normal life.
Jason is standing behind me, acting as my best man. It feels like damn déjà vu, because a couple of months ago I was here, and Roman got married. I almost can't believe I'm standing here now, and it's funny, because I already knew then that I was marrying Rose. I just didn't know how much I'd fall in love with her when it happened.
My heart beats faster as the song dedicated to the bride's entrance begins. Right on time. I pull myself together and wait. The doors open, and finally she appears, holding her brother's hand.
They both walk down the aisle, and I can't look at anything else but her. Out of the corner of my eye, I notice her mother crying. I hold my breath until she's in front of me.
"Hello, baby," I say, taking her hands. "You are the most breathtaking creature I've ever seen."
She's not wearing a veil, so I can see her beautiful smile.
"I'll still kill you for this," she whispers.
The priest clears his throat, and the ceremony begins. I'd like to say I was present every minute, but I seem to have a bad habit of ignoring wedding sermons. Including mine. However, I manage to say the right words at the right moments. The priest recites the usual vows, and then it's my turn.
Everyone falls silent, and I clear my throat to speak. However, I'm not addressing them, but the woman standing before me.
"I want to say a couple of things, Rose. Those aren't vows per se, I just wanted to thank you," I say quietly.
Her expression softens. "You're going to make me cry. Aren't you?"
"Probably." Everyone laughs. Before I begin, I take a deep breath.
"I lived most of my life alone. Without any love, without any warmth. And I foolishly thought I was alive. I was content to stay that way. I saw no reason to change. Until you came into my life. I know, I always say I know everything, but I really didn't know what I was getting into with you. There was a lot of uncertainty, many nights I spent awake thinking about you." "There were a lot of fights and arguments, which, believe me, I didn't expect," I say dryly.
Rose let out a watery laugh, tears already rolling down her cheeks.
"You truly changed my life. In the best possible way. And you made me feel. When I met you, I finally felt warmth, and even though the road was slow, I learned to love too. You have the best heart, baby. I see it every day. You were willing to give up what you loved because you didn't want me to feel hurt or alone. Today was the worst day of my life, but now I can replace that memory with this." Seeing you standing before me and agreeing to marry me. I truly don't deserve you, darling. But I will spend every minute of my life working hard to be better for you,” I promise. “Thank you, Rosario. Thank you for being my shining light. Thank you for pushing me to be better. Thank you for being my better half. I love you.”
As soon as I finished, the church erupted in applause.
“I love you too. So much,” Rose said to me, tears continuing to stream down her face.
As soon as the guests’ cheers began, we were pronounced husband and wife.
"You may kiss the bride now."
The touch of my lips on hers burns. I feel it deep inside me. She is mine, and I will never let her go. We walk down the aisle together. I never let go of her hand as we headed to the reception.
The look on Rose's face as she surveys the room is worth everything I did behind her back. The decorations are in the Christmas colors: red and green. Bright lights are everywhere, and a giant Christmas tree stands to the side. It's exactly what she wanted.
"You're the best," she says reverently.
I smile.
"Merry Christmas, Princess."
"Merry Christmas, my love."
I spend the rest of the night in the company of the family I have acquired through her. Looking back on my life, I never would have thought I'd end up here. But Rose made it possible.
I want to share all aspects of life with her—the joys and the sorrows, embracing every facet of her love. I imagine us growing old together, raising children, and cherishing her forever.
"What do you say if I slip you the baby tonight?" I suggest.
She grins.
"Can we start in the car?"
Excitement overwhelms me as I eagerly carry her to the car, my anticipation igniting a powerful passion.
Time to create our legacy.
