A Heated Moment

A Heated Moment
Jared unbuckled my seatbelt and pulled me onto his laps, I could not stop sobbing.
"Shh. It's okay."
"I...I..." I hiccuped, words failing me.
"You don't have to say anything now." His hand on my back, comforting and soothing was a bit helpful.
"But...oh God. I don't want to believe her, but..." I trailed off as more tears interrupted my speech.
"Me too. I thought she just being her sly self but when I heard her talk, I knew she wasn't lying."
I sniffled back snot, raising my head to look at him. "You heard her talk? When?"
"When we worked together. See, everyone makes mistakes, including your father. And that mistake led to his untimely, unfortunate demise. Denise too and we both know where the mistake landed her."
"I can't imagine being poor and having a rich father who didn't want you. I know my dad was wrong to have pretended Denise didn't exist but killing him didn't solve anything. She only killed the man I've loved all my life till the day he died."
"And I'm sorry for that. I truly am, but knowing what you know now, isn't it better you forgive and let go? For your sake, our son's sake and even for Denise's because she's already suffering."
I squirmed uncomfortably on his laps. "I sympathize with her but that's a lot to ask for, truly."
"You and me we have one thing in common." He lifted my chin so I met his gaze — soft, loving and understanding.
I felt my insides melt. "What is it?"
"We both had fathers who loved us but made mistakes that took them away from us. Yours was his other family and mine was mixing up with the bad people. But we can not let their mistakes limit us from achieving goals and dreams." He advised, his thumb caressing my face.
I contemplated for a very short while then shook my head. "I'm not ready. I don't want to think about it right now."
"I understand. Take your time." He leaned in, wrapping both arms around my waist and took my lips in a deep passionate kiss.
Passion got heated and lust flamed. Moans and groans filled the car as we peeled clothing off of each other and soon, I was grinding atop him, enjoying the heady feel of him inside me.
And when we reached our peak, it was a harmonious climb back down to reality. I laid my head on his chest with him still inside me.
"I've always wanted to rip that dress off you ever since you wore it this morning." He said, still a little breathless.
I chuckled. "I never envisioned today to end this way."
"I can remember a certain someone promising me she would me mind tonight." He kissed my forehead, his tone portraying his joke.
Another light chuckle from me. "Oh, yeah. With all that had happened, I'd forgotten. But that wasn't what I meant. I thought I'd tell everyone who I really am and tell Zion who you are to him, have every adversary in jail, except for Mia whom I'm going to teach a lesson before handing her over."
"I can not believe you're the CEO of Astra-Z Corporation."
I laughed. "I'm sorry I kept it from you." I raised my gaze to meet his, cupping both sides of his face.
"Out of curiosity, why though?" He asked, a bit serious.
Effusing a sigh, I moved one of my hand up to the back of his head to toy with his strands of hair. "I wanted to keep a low profile and just...you know...I couldn't trust anyone plus the shock factor, I was thrilled about the shock factor."
It was dark, except for the dull light trying its best or keep the car's interior bright — Jared had set it that way — but I could see he had a brow up. "Really? Well, the shock factor worked because my jaw almost dropped to the floor. Also, I can't wait for Zion to know who I truly am. How do you think he'll take it?" Was Jared a bit nervous about his five year old son knowing he was his biological father?
"Are you nervous?"
"What? Me? No."
I let out another laugh. "That's a yes."
He emitted a chortle. "Maybe I am a little nervous. You know he's a kid, I have no idea how he'll take it. What if he reacts badly? Zion is so smart I am finding it hard to guess what his reaction will be."
"Don't sweat it, Jared. You'll know when he knows. So for now, let's go back to uncle Pete." I began to shift against him, trying to crawl to the passenger seat and make myself decent.
But his arms tightened more around me, preventing me from leaving. "You do know the events of today have been carried by media houses and online platforms. Everyone's talking about how you magically rose from grass to grace."
It was my turn to quirk a brow. "Grass to grace?"
"Well, they dug up old news, you know, stuff that circulated six years ago before you left."
"Oh. That grass. Hm. Well, I hope it makes for a good, motivating story."
"Thank you for putting Jerome behind bars again." He sounded grateful.
"He deserves it. He hurt me too, having sex with a drugged me on my birthday. Plus Johnson Investment is also Zion's birthright so I wasn't really doing it for you but my son." I widened my lips in a smile to show him I was kidding, only a little though.
"That's reasonable." He noted my half-joke with a big smile of his own.
"Yes, it is. There are still a lot of things to be done before all of this is finally over."
"Things like?" He asked, then morphed his features as this he forgot something. "Oh yes, do you know Christian is behind bars too?"
"Oh really?" I didn't know this.
"Yes. Managing Codza Company gave him quite the fame so he was also apprehended by the police while on the run and that was because Denise had spotted him as he was fleeing the scene and alerted the attention of the police." He said.
"Wonderful. That leaves me with three more to go."
"Four, if you're counting the President."
"Oh yes, exactly. Four. But I have no idea how to get him."
"Let's just take it one enemy at a time, three were arrested today, that's a commendable effort."
"I guess." I relaxed again on his chest, letting the stress of the day swim through my blood, making me feel weak and tired.
"Oh, there's something else Denise found out."
"What is it?"
"She got a recording of Jerome's confession of everything that happened that led to my father's death, that's how I got to know Jerome was already asking questions about who was feeding you information."
I heaved another sigh. "I'm glad you did what you did to help Kazim, I never realized how far I was pushing or what it would mean to Kazim's security and safety."
"It's okay, don't think much of it, he's fine and safe now."
"Thank you." I lifted my head from his chest and locked lips with him briefly. "Now where's the recording? I want to listen to it."
He brought it out from a bag in his backseat, with me still positioned on his laps of course, and played it.
From the beginning to the end of the tape, my mouth refused to close.
"What the heck?!"
Jared's calm gaze met my stunned one. "That was the reaction I had when I listened for the first time."
